  1. I subscribe to several threads some of which require you to be signed in. When attempting to view them I have to sign back in. Leave the thread to view another I have to sign back in. Get knocked out of sign in way to much. This is happening to me on three different computers in IE and Firefox. Have cleared cache and deleted browsing history. Any thoughts on how to fix this? Thanks

I am having the same problem on Google Chrome but only with my account and not DH’s and only on my one computer.

It retains its login going from page to page in IE11 without problems.

I have cleared all history, cookies, retaining passwords as far back as I can in Chrome.

What I found does work is opening up Chrome or a tab in incognito mode. So I believe it could be a setting that is ghosted itself somewhere. I have not tried uninstalling Chrome and reinstalling.

This started about 2 weeks ago. When I have more time I will continue to troubleshoot it.

Not sure if this was an update that caused this but very well could have.

There doesn't seem to be a common theme with all of these that I am picking up.

Now since you are having this in IE and Firefox I am wondering if certain accounts got corrupted within CC’s database. Grabbing straws here.

  2. Yikes!!!.....http://shanghaiist.com/2015/07/09/chinese-cruise-ship-passengers-sweep-through-small-japanese-village-buying-out-goods.php

How did RCCL choose this port?? They could barely handle 200 tourists, never mind 4,000!

This might be just the start of it! as they have the money to spend.

I have no idea as I have never sailed over there. Very interesting article.

    Thanks for posting.

  3. One of the things I love about the Radiance Class is that they have a true movie theater. I love that small compact stadium seating theater. The movies are usually boring but I still love the fact that the option is there. I never saw one on any other RCCL ship class.

What are your thoughts on ships having a true movie theater? Not sharing time with the main stage theater, but a true movie theater... I really love that little nook of a cinema on Radiance class and if I had any say I would still try to make room for them on future ships too.

    So, your thoughts?

We really enjoy the theater last month on the Brilliance and Serenade especially on TA's. :)

Hardly boring movies showing last month were:

American Sniper..had to get there an hour before to get a seat.

Fury...another true story which was excellent.

St. Vincent which we really enjoyed. Whole theater stayed for the roll call at the end:eek:

When ever we are on a Radiance class ship we always check out what movies are on board.

Would love to see a theater on all RCCL ships.

  4. I've seen posts that this will be for Pinnacle Gold Card holders. Can I ask where you saw that this will apply to Suite guests?

If you have a gold colored card ( and it says it applies to Gold colored cards) it will apply to Pinnacles and Suites guests as they both have Gold colored cards.

I know this is not answering you question on the link, but Gold color is Gold color in my mind.

  5. Many thanks for your good wishes and suggestions.

I am going to sleep on it before making any decisions .

It has been helpfull reading everyone's opinions.

I don't need to worry over him reading cruise critic, he never does !

Also he wouldn't be suspicious at me being on cruise critic as I am a bit of an addict:):)

Could I lie to him, hell yes ........for the last 40 years he thinks I have had some damn good shoe bargains ! ::)

My birthday is in 4 days, I may have to wait till then.

I will promise to keep all my CC friends updated

Where are you supposed to be thinking your going on a vacation? Is it somewhere where you would probably pack the same type of clothes or pretty close to the same type of clothes. Or is it something like camping?

If you think you would indeed pack completely different for the cruise then I would mention it if he notes what you pack. If it is going to be pretty much the same then I would not say a word.

Love the shoe bit......been there done that LOL

    Have fun not matter what!

  6. We are Diamond plus, we cruise the Freedom quite often. We have done all types of cabins. If we were to book a inside guarantee what are chances of getting a upgrade or a half way decent cabin.

Please let me know if anyone has done this.

    Thanks.

We have a guarantee cabin booked right now and feel our upgrades options are slim even though we are Pinnacle and this is why:

On all guarantee cabins the original assignment comes from a computer program. It does not take into consideration your C&A status at all.

Upgrades, whether it be "upsells" or "free" upgrades comes from a human. Usually it is Revenue that begins the upgrade process approximately 2 weeks before boarding. If you have your GTY cabin assignment before this, that is when you will have the chance of an upgrade. Revenue tend not to look at loyality status but what was paid for the original cabin or when it was booked. When they are done with their shuffling around and have some cabins left over they will pass it over to C&A to assign to loyalty cruisers.

  7. Yep, excellent points all around... btw I don't have a vested interest to want to move Brilliance to a diff port, just offering maybe a different angle. I have to fly a long way to get to any sunny port of call in winter months, and was actually looking forward to visiting another different starting point (Tampa) and ship I have never been on (BoS) but I just will not ever put myself in the position of the possible delay/cancellation that just occurred... ever. My wallet will be the determining vote on this.

So to never put yourself in the possible delay/cancellation position, I guess you need to avoid cruising also from May 15th - Nov 30th (hurricane season) and then the fog season as already mentioned. Not to mention the winter seasons as the snow storms from up north tend to ripple down into the south and cause flight cancellations:eek::confused:

  8. Not meaning to hijack this thread, but have a similar question.

You said a sea pass card can be flagged. Would this also work for an adult?? We are taking my mother in law, who is just starting the early stages of dementia. While I don't think she would ever try to get off alone. I just want to be 100% sure that she can't. Several of the island we are planning things all together. But the one day we are staying onboard. If she would walk away to go to the restroom or something, want to make sure she is ok.

Also, can her card be flagged with our names and room numbers in case she is lost on the ship.

Again, she is in just the very first stages and plan to stay with her 24/7

Yes it would work for an adult. When we had a sea pass card flagged it was for the security at disembarkation just one day. I don't know if it works if the card was inserted at a cash machine at a bar or in the stores. . Also I don't know if you can flag it for through out the whole cruise or just for one event. I would think for the whole cruise. GS will be able to help you with this once on board.

  9. On our next cruise, my kids will be old enough to check themselves in / out of the Kids' Club. As they will have their Sea pass, is there a way to restrict them from actually leaving the ship on their own while in Port? I don't think my kids would ever do this, but I would like to know whether I can formally put this restriction on their Sea pass (i.e. They would need to be with a parent in order to leave the ship in port).

You can have their sea pass cards flagged with a message not to allow them off the ship without their parents.

Or with any other message if you like.

  10. Timetables for the trains on the 28th of May looks like this.

Departure Skagen 09:51 with R79 towards Frederikshavn

    Arrival Frederikshavn 10:27

Departure Frederikshavn 10:38 with Lyn 42 towards Københavns Lufthavn

    Arrival København H 16:22

If that is to early then you have this option.

Departure Skagen 11:50 with R 79 towards Frederikshavn

    Arrival Frederikshavn 12:26

Departure Frederikshavn 12:38 with Lyn 46 towards Københavns Lufthavn

    Arrival København H 18:22

On both trips I will recommend to get seat reservations on the Lyn tog as its almost 6 hours in a train.

Great information, just what I was looking for ........thank you.

  11. We are debating getting off our ship in Skagen May 28th to make our May 30th cruise in Copenhagen. We can either stay one night in Skagen or 2 nights in Copenhagen if a Thursday or Friday make a difference.

I have researched this and it seems trains do this route, but have no luck when actually trying to put it in a mock booking.

Any suggestions or links that allow this route?

We are supposed to be flying out of Gatwick and landing in Copehagen May 30th at 2:35pm. Our ship leaves at 4:30 and I am afraid we might not make it as I am now hearing traffic can be horrendous going to the Oceankaj port and it is a 30 min drive.

Edited to say we wouldn't be opposed to a ferry either which I am just researching.

Thank you for all your help.

  12. I have today received notification that Visby has been dropped from Baltic cruises in 2015 on Brilliance of the Seas, it has been replaced with Skagen, Denmark. Such a shame Visby is apparently a beautiful old town and I was looking forward to visiting, now I have to research Skagen to see what there is to see/do there.

My TA sent me the itinerary change yesterday. I also was looking forward to Visby, but haven't been to Skagen either so will now focus on that.

Didn't realize it was for the whole season, just thought it was our sailing.

  13. Have been to Santorini 8 times, used the cable car each time, and never found it horrific :). As to "how to do" Santorini, we do it quite well :). We have always gone on our own, have used the buses, rental cars, taxis, and our feet (varies on each trip). Doing both Oia and Fira on a long port day is quite easy, and with a rental car we could cover most of the island in that amount of time.

    Hank

    Thank you for your information...

Do you mind explaining exactly how you do it quite well:D

So you used the cable car, buses, rental cars, taxis and feet.

Can you please post your itinerary for that day so we know how to structure it for ourselves. :)

Looking forward to your expertise being there 8 times.

  14. Thank you for all the input and I can see I need to provide more information and gather more information myself.

We will be getting off the Brilliance of the Seas May 30th and hopefully boarding Serenade of the Seas the same day. Even though the Serenade is a shorten version of what we have just done on the Brilliance, it's the Arctic cruise to follow that is the appeal. We were going to spend 7 days between London and Copenhagen but decided we rather be on the ship.

Before the Brilliance docks in Harwich, it's last port is Visby Sweden followed by 2 days at sea.

If we join the Serenade it has one sea day after sailing out of Harwich and docks in Stockholm.

I am going to try and find out what a realalistic time is to disembark in Harwich and if we have to abide by the 90min ruling of being on the ship before sailing. I can see where this is very important information.

Sounds like EasyJet might be a possibility. Once I have this information I will post it here.

  15. Probably not possible!

The only flight I found with a quick search was BA0814 9.55 from Heathrow but I doubt that it's possible to make that flight even if the ship is on time and you are the first off.

Yes that is what I was getting out of it too. If there was a flight around 11:00am it might work, but not seeing anything either.

I guess we'll be flying to Stockholm 2 days later. Bright side is I'll get to see some of London and bit more of Stockholm from the airport to the port.

Thank you very much for your help.

  16. I’m not seeing how this is possible in the timeframe needed.

Disembark in Harwich. Ship arrives at 4:00am but I am guessing earliest would be 7:30 to get off the ship, then fly to Copenhagen where we would have to be on the ship by 3:30pm. It leaves at 5:00pm.

This would be for May 30th 2015. I can’t seem to find flights that would accommodate this timeframe even when I do mock bookings for any date. Not being familiar with all the different airlines/airports on that side of the pond I was hoping I’m missing something that might fit.

Other alternative which we are prepared for, is meet the ship at its first port 2 days later.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  17. Hi everyone! Back from an awesome cruise from Venice to the Greek Islands and Turkey! I wanted to throw it out there in case anyone had any questions I could answer for them!

I stayed in Venice for two days, departed on Splendour of the Seas and we stopped in Dubrovnik Croatia, Kusadasi Turkey, Santorini and Katakolon Greece. BEAUTIFUL itinerary! :)

We are doing the same cruise in Oct. of this year. So happy you enjoyed so much.

Would you mind giving a rundown of what you did at each port?:D

Were there any particular restaurant's in Venice that you would recommend?

What hotel did you stay in precruise?

  18. You only want to use the old certs on 6 or 7 days cruises to get the best value. I have 2 left so will watch what I use them on. I won't waist them on 3-5 nights.

7 days and over is best to book onboard now with the higher OBC and reduced deposit.

I won't be buying the new certificates anymore unless I want one for a very popular cruise coming out and don't want to put out the full deposit.
