  1. Is there a way to get to Placencia without going through Harvest Caye? I am not sailing on NCL so am assuming will not be going to Harvest Caye. Thanks

Not that I'm aware of, most other cruise lines port at Belize City which is on the northern end where Placenta is on the southern end...you can take a water taxi from Belize city to Caye Caulker which is a very nice little island as well

  2. We were there in October of 2017...it was so new that when we went to book through or concierge he didn't even know they offered it. They didn't even give us a return time, just said it ran every hour on the 1/2 hour...there was a guy at the dock with a golf cart and he took us to his business to fill out the paperwork. ..I think it was $25 for the day....they even sent me a thank you note for renting from them...the people there are incredibly nice and I felt totally safe the entire day

  3. Something does not seem right about the post.

I would not let a one time inconvenience ruin a 1 week cruise.

My friends and family would not leave anyone behind unless they were someone they wanted to dodge. There are a few ;)

Not enough substance behind the cruise comments to warrant much attention on CC

I never said it ruined my whole cruise...I love it when people put words into my mouth...I enjoyed the cruise, just that the service wasn't what I was used to with NCL...I wasn't the only one on our cruise that said the same thing...

  4. I was very disapointed in the way things were handled. First let me say I have mobility issues. We arrived at the port of Miami and got through the security check just fine. From that point on, it was a mess. We waited in the Haven lounge and got our key cards. They took my family through the port, but when we got to the escalator to go upstairs, it was broken and I cant do stairs. Well, they took the rest of my family up leaving me to sit in a crowded corner. They wouldnt let me go up in the elevator because they said there were still 59 people still on the ship. What that had to do with taking the elevator up I have no clue. About 1/2 hour later, the got me into the elevator and up I went to find my family. When we finally got to where they scan your card, my daughter's and mine didn't work, so had to sit right there in folding chairs for another 20 min while they went back down and reprinted them...We missed the welcome talk in the Haven. I will get back to this with an update when I hear back from customer relations. Just wasn't what I was expecting [emoji35]

  5. I'm happy to try to help. I hope it works out well for your boss. I can imagine it could be unnerving to be on a ship and not know what the immediate future holds. It seems a lot of the media coverage has focused on the greater Houston area. From reading the Galveston news today, it sounds like the worst for them so far has been last night and earlier today. I hope they're out of harm's way very soon.

Did your boss drive to POG or fly into Houston?

ABC Houston has been streaming live coverage 24/7:

He drove in and is parked at the port...to make matters worse, this is their first cruise ever and I talked him and his family into going...

  6. Port of Galveston has been posting Harvey updates here. They continue to say that the 2 official port parking lots are not flooded, but a couple days ago I read the road to get to the parking lots was flooded. Port of Galveston posted information about available resources for anyone who does get stranded, and says the special rates require cruise documentation. POG also has Carnival's latest update posted below their own update. From everything I've read, Galveston island isn't as bad off as northern Galveston County is.

Here is a recent article (it says 50 mins ago) from Galveston County Daily News:

Thank you for your answers without being snarky....I have been googling about it and having a hard time finding that info...

  7. Hi, has anyone heard anythig else about the ccl valor? My boss is on it and the last I heard they stopped in New Orleans for supplies...has anyone heard if Galveston is flooded at the port parking and if they open the port will they be able to get off the island?

  8. Just read this:

There are four different cruise ships that were headed to Galveston that are now stuck out on the water. They are being forced to remain in the Gulf of Mexico at this time and it doesn’t look like they will be able to go in to port at the next expected time either. As of right now, the ports are closed until at least Tuesday.

Carnival spokesperson Christine de la Huerta said the Carnival Freedom and Valor will stop in New Orleans on Saturday. This will be so they can get food and supplies for the passengers. At least, passengers will be taken care of and have the prospect of having a good time on their unplanned extended vacation. While they are in New Orleans, passengers can get off and then find their own way home or get back on the ship and go to Galveston.

  9. Well, here is the latest from carnival for Valor: The Port of Galveston is expected to remain closed to all marine traffic until the storm has passed and a port assessment has been completed. Please do not proceed to the cruise terminal until you have heard from us again. Our intention is to return to Galveston as soon as it is safe to do so. The duration of our cruise will be shortened and the itinerary modified. Please visit carnival.com for more details.

  10. On the same sailing. We received the offer to bid. Ironically, we are allowed to bid on several categories of stateroom that I know to be sold out. And, they're not going to open because they are filled above.

From what others have said, they hold some back for the bidding, but I don't have a clue, this is all new to me

  11. My favorite dining is Teppanyaki...that one has limited spots, so booking ahead of time is good....in the haven, you also have a pre-cruise concierge you can call to order the pillows you want, types of coffee and tea you want in the cabin, wether or not you want the fridge emptied, if you want any juces or milks put in(we have kids with us, so we asked for choc. milk and juce put in it) we asked for snacks for the kids to be in the cabin before we boarded to keep the kids happy...the phone number for the concierge is 855-625-4283
