  1. We got the 10% future discount when NCL cancelled a cruise a couple of months back.  We recently applied it to a new booking, together with 2 CruiseNext certificates.

If we cancel the booking more than 41 days prior to departure, the NCL EU/UK cancellation policy states that we take a 20% cancellation charge.

My question is - will they return the 10% future discount voucher (guessing not), and from what I understand, they WILL return the CruiseNext certs, minus 20%.

If anyone has any experience of this thanks.

Just been on to look and looks like it’s disappeared again off the website again now for the 5th. Rome is still there from the 8th.

They did explain this though (if it can be believed, but it seems to be logical), that they were sold out at capacity for 5th.  Then the balcony and higher re-appeared, with studio and inside "sold out".  So hopefully this was just a few cabins becoming available with cancellations, and now gone again.

I am going on an MSC cruise on Aug. 27th.  I have a PCR test scheduled for this Friday and then an antigen test scheduled for 8/20.  I am fortunate to work from home, so I am also basically putting myself in quarantine for the last two weeks before my trip.  Just in case.

Good point!  Self quarantine for a couple of weeks, and pretty much guarantee being negative at the port.  Will do that myself!

  4. I saw them weighing a couple of people on Encore on it's maiden transatlantic.  They weren't too strict, the machine was there but they weren't paying much attention to it.  Though if you looked too heavy perhaps they would get interested.

On the karts - I went once, it was grand, I felt it wasn't as fast as I'd have experienced on land karts.  Fun, but not worth paying for a week subscription.

If a cruise is no longer available for online booking then taking it off the online booking site makes perfect sense.  It is only because of the current situation that it gets people trying to read between the lines.  I'm sure they could let the cruise show up on the search with a notation that you must call to book, but that sort of web site upgrade is probably not something they need to be dealing with right now.

Yeah, sorta agree with you Karaboudjan.  But it's also because of the current situation that there are threads about re-evaluating plans to cruise.  And whether there is good reason for deleting the cruises or not, it would be counterproductive if they lose bookings from people (including those on the 5th Sept. roll call) who get jittery from this.  It would not seem much to allow people see current sailings, and just not let them book them if they are capacity.

Anybody heard anything about all the August cruises not showing as available across the NCL fleet?  Bump

I think you should do what I did in relation to the EPIC, Mightyjoey - chat to them and get a response - I told them their way of doing this, deleting sailings, is very worrying.  But at least they were able to confirm the status of the sailing to me.

  7. So aft

The daily offers email hasn’t arrived for a couple of day’s?
Im able to do an upgrade offer on the 5th September ?

Thanks Trimone.  When I rang them they said they couldn't explain why it was off the website.  I have since gone through the "chat with an agent" and they told me:

"September 5th has still very little inventory but we do have rooms left"
"Only too book direct to not oversell - We are not selling full capacity, when a sailing is no longer in the system is because is no longer available to book online. We have never added the sold out option only if categories are gone, looking at the sailing there is only a very few cabins left, no longer inside or oceanview available."

So it seems like the sailing is safe.  But it would be great if NCL could find a way to block bookings without suggesting sailings were gone!

  8. I am currently now re-evaluating, as I have a hold on a 26th Sept EPIC cruise, but the 5th Sept cruise has just disappeared off their website.  Customer Service say they have no idea why.  That does not encourage me to pay deposit and final payment in next couple of weeks.

  9. And now their 5th September sailing from Barcelona has just disappeared off their website.  Customer service don't know why.  How can a company just remove sailings and not post information to potential and current customers.  It's very poor.  8th Sept from Rome still showing on site, but "fully booked".

Shows the first Epic sailing September 8.

I'm seeing Sept 8th all sold out (from Rome), no mention of 5th September from Barcelona.

I rang customer service, who said they had no further information on whether it was a cancellation, just fully booked, or temporary website changes.  Hoping to go on 26th Sept Epic sailing, this is a little worrying.

NCL really want to get their act together - it should not be asking too much to be able to know why a sailing disappears off their website.

  11. Yep, saw that.  So the same as July offer (which only applied up to cruises to end year) .

I have a 7 day and a 10 day booked over next 6 months (hopefully!), which will get me 51 points - that sort of bonus would bring many up to platinum if they've done a few cruises before.  I'm just platinum myself since 2019 (i.e. last cruise), but the rewards program holds no value for me now - get to Plat Plus and eat a meal with officers (no thanks) and get another few minutes internet (generally end up getting the package) and dubious access to priority seating.

Will they end up with a glut of people at Platinum and if so, does the reward program become irrelevant.   It seemed fairer that you got a point a night and if you got platinum it was because you cruised a lot.

The question I want to ask then is would you be willing to pay the extra 70% to get the $200 OBC if you didn't get it? As it might not be worth.

Say a balcony is $500pp so double occupancy would be $1000.

But you are only paying $650. It would be silly to pay more just to get the $200 as it would cost you more.

Find out if you get any OBC and how much

And definitely not worth paying the extra 70% for $200, nowhere near it!

I'm surprised the answer isn't on the website, but I'm guessing I will get the $200 as it is more likely to be that they were trying, badly, to say singles (albeit paying double normally) would get the OBC.   Fact that they are currently not imposing a 100% penalty for single occupancy is probably not going to change it.  I hope!

Hard to say.  You might be able to see it on your summary - sometimes the OBC will show.  Since the booking is on hold, there isn't a link to the summary page but you can get to it by typing in your latitudes # and reservation.

    www.ncl.com/shores/latitudes#/reservation#/vacation-summary

It might also show on the invoice, under add-ons.

    Curious - what cruise?

Thanks, that's an interesting way to get to the summary alright!  It didn't show the OBC unfortunately though.  I might ask a customer rep.

  14. So I have a booking 'hold' for a new NCL promotion which offers $200 OBC for a balcony booking.  I am travelling with a friend, and they are in a separate cabin.

The terms and conditions state:  "Singles paying 200% are entitled to full onboard credit value".   Now, the price at the moment for single occupancy is not 200% - it's only about 130%.

    Do I get $200, $130 or $0 OBC?!
