  1. A recent thread on RCCL involved a man who stood in line for over an hour outside the locked buffet on embarkation because they didn't open on time. They had a surprise inspection, so, they couldn't open. Instead of exploring the ship, having a drink, etc. he stood on line and posted on CC about it.:confused:

Well, obviously, I'm gonna have to man the stand myself. I'll order a few of those 11 pound jars of Nutella. :D

If you can find it Maureen!!!

  2. Sorry to interrupt but we've beento Aruba twice and St. Maarten four times, and I personally liked Orient Beach the best. Beautiful crystal clear water and nice sand. We just loved beaching it there for a few hours each time. Maho is very nice too with the jets flying over. In St. Thomas, we loved Magen's Bay the two times we went there. Enjoy them all....none are bad!

Sonic,,don't think you'd be enjoying the beach, or lack there of at Maho right now.

  3. Apologies - I should have mentioned this as well. The existing trade UK web site will close at end of November 2014.

Just a thought maybe they want us to book via Travel Agents only in the future??

    Annie

I hope not Annie!!! I finally have a PVC at MSC who answers my calls,,takes care of any and all of our requests, and lets me know of any special offers MSC may be doing. If this becomes the case,,I'll just pay the piper and book all of my excursions, spa treatments, drink packages onboard to get those points!!!

  4. Sound great Mike. As a good Scot, I'll see if I can keep up with the minibar being restocked.

Not long now - can't wait. Leaving on Thursday, staying in miami to recharge before we board :) :)

Make sure you make it down to Bayfront for some great food, shopping, and music. It's located close to the Port Of Miami and next door to the American Airlines Arena. Oh,,and one more thing,,please say hello to the One Bar bartender "Dayman" from Mike and Kim. He won't remember us probably, but just tell him the Zing Zang guy,,and he'll know exactly who you're talking about!!! Have a great trip,,looking forward to hearing all about it!!

  5. Thanks for the review, I do find it amusing that it took 6 people, 30 minutes on hold, etc to put a bar of soap in the trash. I think I would have done it myself in 2 seconds.

Maureen,,,I remember you had asked me to check on the Nutella crepes for you. I never seen anyone in the little booth they had set-up at the AquaPark so I wasn't able to get that info for you. I noticed on Friday that the stand has completely disappeared from the pool deck and I haven't seen it since. While I'm thinking about it,,FLAMOM is cruising this week,,they only had 8 jars of Nutella left and the clerk in the store didn't think they would be getting anymore in. I'm thinking FLAMOM may scoop up the remaining jars!!

  6. I did wonder the same thing. But I've read of many people doing similar (on different lines) including one memorable thread where the woman hustled her daughters out of the cabin and kept them away until a pair of boys underpants was removed from the back of the closet - because it would have traumatized them and ruined their holiday. :D

Are you serious Kat????? OMG!!! I wished I was on the MSC boards when that little gem of a thread came along. I'd want to read it just for the replies alone!!

  7. Here's ours from last week. It's built like a pack and play, and folds up the same way, but it's more rectangular instead of square like most pack and plays. We had a YC2 with a big walk in closet, and the crib actually fit in there perfectly, giving the baby his own room. A real sanity preserver, that.

OMG adavidw!!! Were you in The Top Sail Lounge Saturday(disembarkation day) morning having breakfast?? If so,,we always saw you up at the One Bar,,,I was the guy always carrying around a camera with that big lens on it,,,

  8. It is very easy to mess up salmon. It's not a very forgiving fish (Tilapia) and if it's not super fresh will be fishier then most. You cannot cook away the taste and smell of 'fishy'. I'm a Salmon snob and will only eat it when I know it was caught that day so I only get it when I'm in the Pacific Northwest. Others have said that seafood is really not good on this ship-so I'll just skip it (except for the Mahi and popcorn shrimp! ) :)

I too don't like to be in the sun and was concerned about the lack of shade. But I love people watching so I'll manage to hang out in the shade near the pool. :)

Thanks for the review! It's great to hear from everyone and their different perspectives! Cheers!

Even for us in the Yacht Club,,we have no shade either, unless you sit on the bench near the pool, or sit in the One Bar:

  9. I was on the Divina last week and took this tour. We saw way more than just cold storage in the galley. It was all along the lines of what Kat said.

We were on the same sailing Adavid and wanted to do this tour. We were sitting at The One Bar when the tour came through the Yacht Club,,,uggghhhhh,,,guess we'll have to try and do it January.

  10. My in-laws were in 15029 last week, and their butler's name was Putra (sp?). I don't have any idea if he'd still be there in November, but they said he was awesome, just came out of nowhere anytime they'd even think of needing someone.

On the opposite end, if anyone has 12001 booked, the butler for that room, Rai, leaves much to be desired. On top of that, the room still has a few unresolved plumbing problems and a shower that leaks a lot. Hopefully they can fix it soon.

Putra is awesome!!!! All of the butlers work double duty either in the Top Sail Lounge, The One Bar and Pool, or servicing their assigned staterooms. We would see Putra up at the One Bar quite often and he was fun to interact with,,always asked where "madam" was,,love all the butlers and our junior butler "Deve"!!!

  11. Thanks for the pictures Gambee, that beach looks so nice

That's funny, poor people of dutch Sant Marteen they accept three currencies on a regular basis, also the Euros, that must be so confusing

There's been talk of the Dutch side switching to either the Euro or the American dollar and doing away with the Guilder. Many people will be up in arms if they switch to the Euro!!!

  12. Great review so far! We are doing this exact cruise in Nov and you have already provided some great new information...Thank you!

I had a question about currency in St. Maarten. One of the pics you included listed the prices in Euro. Do they only accept Euro? Or do they have an option to pay in USD? Are the exchange rates/prices comparable or should we bring some Euro with us? We are planning on booking the same tour with Bernard's...

Euro or the American dollar is accepted on the French side of the island. The American dollar or the Guilder is accepted on the Dutch side of the island.

  13. My thanks also....I've been lurking and reading but now have a question....is La Traviata the current opera presented now on Divina or is is the new one coming? We sail October 18th this year so I'd like to know which opera I will be seeing....very much looking forward to this :)

La Traviata will be replacing one of the current opera shows ionblair. Andre never said when the current production will be replaced, as this was the first time anyone has seen it. Like I stated earlier in this thread,,my cousin has seen La Traviata in New York and London and loved it,,,she was in tears during most of this performance aboard Divina. If you're a fan of the opera,,I think you will enjoy this,,very well done!!!

  14. Mike

Sorry to keep asking Q ,wife wants to know if there a library on board ?

Did you visit the cigar room ?

We are traveling with friends on the TA next oct ,who are also staying in the YC

    Regards

    Paul & Dawn

Yes there is FL LION. Actually there are two,,one in the Yacht Club and another library on deck 16 next to the Galaxy Disco. They are pretty limited, but if you like to read while on vacation, I'm sure your wife will find something. I think the library in the Yacht Club would be your best bet though,,there seems to be more of a variety of books, available in different languages as well.

I don't smoke anymore,,,finally gave that habit up back in February,,so I never went into the cigar lounge. We passed by a few times and it seemed to have a few people always in there. They have a very good ventilation system installed in that lounge to exhaust all of the smoke.

One section of the Yacht Club Library,,there are shelves of books for each language:

  15. Come on Mike you are slowing down you only have 4 more YC cruises booked.:D:rolleyes: We hope to get there soon and hopefully we will meet for a couple of drinks!!!

Let me know when you're thinking about booking something Riclop. We'd love to meet up and have drinks!! I can work anywhere in the world so long as I have a good internet connection, and Divina has the finest network I have ever experienced on a cruise ship,,,7 megs down??? C'mon,,,that's fast as h*** for a cruise ship.
