  1. I'm sorry you're disappointed with your booking, but IMO it is your responsibility to know what you are buying before you pay your hard-earned money. Chalk this one up to a lesson learned the hard way. It sounds like you not only didn't know about the cabin you purchased, but you also did not understand the early saver booking rules you booked under.

While early saver does not allow you to downgrade, it does allow you to upgrade if you are not happy with your cabin, but of course you'll have to pay the going rate for the cabin you choose. Or maybe the upsell fairy will call you before your cruise and offer you a deal on an upgrade.

I hope it works out well for you. There are worse things than spending 10 days in paradise while sleeping in an ocean-view cabin. And it sounds like you booked at a pretty good rate, so that is something to enjoy too.

    Hope you enjoy your cruise.

In other words People who work for Carnival know absolutely nothing about the Carnival ships and it is up to you to find out what the room size, I mean come on why should a Carnival employee know anything about a Carnival ship.;)

  2. Yeah, just like the Plats are tired of those deplorable FTTF cruisers who are able to purchase perks they didn't esrn....

    Sent from my Galaxy 4

Well the rumor is the new change will be called FTTFBP- Faster to the Fun Before Platimums . Will cost n extra 5 dollars. ;)

Lets see you earned platinum by spending money to go on cruises. FTTF people also spent money on something the cruise offered. hmmm

  3. We are getting ready to take our cruise in a few weeks and my friend has Bronchitis. She is being treated by a DR., on breathing treatments and is taking or using emergen-c. She quit smoking and took up the vap and Dr. said thats how she got it. My question is ,,, is there going to be a problem with her going on this cruise. TY for your help

"Chronic, which means your airways are irritated over and over. This type lasts for a few months or longer, and usually comes back year after year. Things that irritate your lungs, like dust, chemicals, or smoke from a fire or cigarettes, usually cause it. Chronic bronchitis isn’t contagious, but it’s a serious health problem that requires a doctor’s care."

If it's chronic bronchitis it is not contagious , if it is acute bronchitis it is, which usually last one to three weeks.

  4. Wow......That's something that may be true too if you held a mirror up here on cruisecritic. But that's none of my business.....

**I don't happen to live my life on FB, but do follow his posts. I also don't live my life on cruisecritic. Both sites are full of judgemental, whiney, entitled people. However, BOTH places are also full of fun, nice, welcoming people. Let's not cast stones....or be jerks to one another. Someone asks a question, answer it without being rude.

You must not have realized they are the same people on both sites. They are also known as "cheerleaders".;)

  5. They're stating it because the dress code clearly says:

    "

    The Steakhouse

The dress requirements for the Steakhouse follows the dress code specified for the Main Dining Room(s); if the evening is specified as 'Cruise Casual', shorts are not permitted."

    https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1093/~/what-to-wear---evenings

Even for the MDR code, the only part of the code that specifies "men's" in the Elegant code is "sleeveless tees" (women are allowed to wear sleeveless shirts, but that's likely because the style of a lot of elegant female clothing is sleeveless and not as typically so for men). The prohibited shorts has no gender listed. (Shorts are allowed on Cruise Casual nights for anyone and everyone, so long as they are considered "nice" enough and that basically amounts to not "cut-offs". This is in the MDR though, which is why the Steakhouse specifies otherwise.)

I imagine with things like capris and whatnot, it is a lot more likely a woman in shorts is not noticed by the Maitre'D in the MDR, plus not all MDRs on Carnival are super vigilant about policing the dress code, but the Steakhouse is not the MDR... it is much smaller for one and they are very specific about their code (even note it when they call to confirm) for another.

Personally, I don't care about dress codes. I only learn them because I, by nature, follow rules. But this thread, with the screenshot someone posted was the first time I heard about dress shorts for women being any different. That must be new or maybe even vary ship-to-ship, I don't know.

Edit: If you're saying someone got away with it somewhere, I mean... that might have happened (definitely, I assume, in MDR; less likely in Steakhouse, but not impossible) but that doesn't change the rule. If you get away with going 90 in a zone where the speed limit is 45, it doesn't change the speed limit...

You need to go read post #45. It is the steakhouse dress code and specifically shows women allowed to wear dress shorts.

  6. Too much grease in an 80/20, especially when cooked on a grill and the burger just sits in the grease.

If I do eat a burger, I prefer lean cuts, including buffalo and angus. A burger is just not a priority item on my menu. I'd rather a filet mignon.

Then why are you on a hamburger thread(guys). I don't believe the OP asked whether you liked hamburgers over filet mignon. By the way you will not find a decent filet mignon on Carnival and that can't be denied.

  7. I would take him if I was you, if he gets fussy I am sure you will take him out. Carnival allows kids to eat there, if people disagree then they should be mad at Carnival or cruise a different line. Carnival is a "FAMILY cruise line".

I have eaten at Davids sitting next to toddlers and never had a problem. I have had many problems with adults. It is usually the wine drinkers who get so loud the whole place can hear their conversation, and then the loud obnoxious cackling laughter that comes from them. I have had to tell many adults to keep it down, they might argue until I stand up and then they usually quiet down. Drunk adults with no volume control is far worse in Davids than toddlers.

  8. A poor comparison at best. Your three crew members changed completely. Her kids just id being held at a different location on the ship. <sarcasm>My God that is the most horrible thing I have ever heard of happening on a cruise. I think she should get a 100% refund, a 100% credit for a future cruise, and unlimited dining in the steak house, shore excursions, and drinks on both cruises. After all it is just fair!</sarcasm>

Sure and if Carnival decided to move camp carnival(while it is getting it's makeover) to the serenity area for camp carnival you and everyone else on this thread that criticized her and caller her a complainer would be all over this board complaining 'how could Carnival do this to us?, how can they put those bratty kids in our adult only area, don't they know who we are".. To funny Much hypocrisy on this board. Have a great trip OP and hope the best for your friend.

  9. Arnold Donald was just on CNN. He said prices are up, profit are up and bookings are strong. There you have it. . .right from the horses mouth.

Cruising is still a great value, in my humble opinion.

Unfortunately hardly anyone saw it. Have you seen how bad CNN ratings are.

  10. We have sailed her twice. Everyone has opinions. Never felt more crowded than other ships. I have posted two reviews with pics if anyone is interested with details.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Were you on the same cruise as the OP? If not your reviews mean nothing to his experience. Why is it that when anyone has a criticism of a Carnival cruise you immediately show up to point out your reviews. It was extremely over crowded when I was on the Sunshine but that was a different cruise than the op's, so it is of no significance. Op thanks for the review.

  11. Well yes they are. It's because people were smuggling alcohol in them.

This is the biggest fallacy on this board. Carnival has even admitted that smugglers were not the reason that they implemented the no bottles except one wine to be brought on board. Why people keep saying this is laughable. By the way if you think you can't smuggle alcohol in cans you are completely wrong. People are still smuggling and no I will not say how, and NO I do not smuggle alcohol on board anymore.

  12. You can see affluent people in Wal Mart all the time, but you can't see trailer trash in Nordstroms. Just sayin'.

    You mean like these trailers?

"Multimillion-dollar properties are no rarity at Paradise Cove, the Malibu, Calif., mobile-home community where the couple, both retired from the film industry, this spring purchased a two-bedroom, 1,800-square-foot trailer for $1.25 million. Earlier this year, a trailer in the park—which in the past has included residents like actor Matthew McConaughey—sold for $2.55 million. And in July, a four-bedroom, 2,200-square-foot trailer with a hot tub and two-car garage went on the market for $3.75 million.":)

  13. "Merlyn Parola, 42, is from the Philippines, and is a 15-year Carnival veteran currently on the Carnival Fascination."

"The pay is fair: Pay comes mostly from pooled passenger gratuities. "The salary is good, I can't complain. I pay for my son's education and I support my family," said Berzina. "Imagine how many years I've been with the company. If I'm not happy, maybe I'm out of here," said Parola. "I am saving a lot."

  14. I couldn't agree more. Honestly, I always feel badly for those poor unfortunates who misstate that Princess is part of Carnival or owned by Carnival; the main intent of their question or statement gets lost in the ensuing kerfluffle.

The fault, if any should be levied, lies with the parent group CCL for naming the umbrella organization nearly identically to the name of one of their owned cruise lines.

But it's also important to remember that, regardless of how some might like to believe that Princess has nothing to do with Carnival, or HAL, etc., it's simply not true and has not been true since the purchase many years ago. CCL purchased Princess (and other) cruise lines with economies of scale in mind. Keeping them separate would have hampered that effort.

Carnival does own Princess. Carnival Corp. that is . So if someone says Carnival owns Princess they are correct as long as they don't say Carnival cruise line owns Princess. It matters not. After cruising both lines many of times there is not much difference.

  15. First off I am not sure what kind of debit cards you people are using but my debit card has the exact same protections my credit cards have. I suggest learning more about them before making statements that are false about "every debit card". Trust me not all debit cards are equal, so your general statements about them are false.

Secondly to the OP, you said nothing that was harsh until post #2 took a shot at you. Once you criticized Royal you had to know the cheerleaders would immediately attack you and your character. Just typical, glad everything worked out for you except for the food poisoning you got from Royal.

  16. I believe there's a per day drink limit anyway, so what difference does it make whether one person drinks 15 drinks in a "day" (24 hour period) or two people. I always get the soda card and so does my son but my husband doesn't drink soda and he doesn't have to get it. I might have one drink per day but the cheers program would be worth it for my husband. :(

Because the guy without the cheers package would be purchasing regular priced drinks from the bar without his buddy sharing his cheers package.

  17. Couple A buys two drink packages and each of them consume an average of 6 drinks per day on the cruise.

Couple B buys one drink package and shares it, and each of them consume an average of 6 drinks per day on the cruise.

Question- under which scenario does CCL make the most profit?

And that is why every adult in the cabin needs to purchase Cheers.:)

Couple A has only one drinker between them but are told they have to pay for both of them. Couple A decides not to purchase and only buys a few drinks on the ship for their trip.

Couple B decides to smuggle alcohol on do the the cheers policy of having to purchase two cheers packages even though only one drinks.

Hypothetical couple C- buys one cheers package under carnivals hypothetical new rule that one person in the cabin not all can now purchase the cheers package.

Question-Under which scenario does Carnival make the most profit?:)

  18. Sorry, but if that's their only requirement, and I can book anyone I wish I to any room, and I can drink 15 drinks daily, not my problem.

They are actually banking on non drinkers and people falling off the early week heavy drinking activity. Again, not my problem but the algorithm they came up with. And keep tweeting by cause they just can't quite figure it out.

Such a far cry from before their monopoly, where you could just freely take your own booze on board. The ship is a hotel with bars, not one big bar.

The hotels I stay at(and yes these hotels have bars), allow me to bring my own liquor to the room.
