  1. I just wanted to take the time to sincerely thank you for your input - it really helps folks in trying to made decisions and also cuts time getting upset or irrated with not finding right answers

If folks would give their inputs on one thread then folks, I feel would like its a "safe zone"

    Thanks again

No, thank you two for keeping the old thread alive. Is the Lone Cabbage still open? I would recommend that place for anybody with a rental car and time to kill before a flight out.

  2. Bicycles

Prices vary but average about US $12 per day for a 10-speed bike and $14 for a mountain bike. Note that traffic can be extremely heavy along West Bay Road during morning and evening rush hours.

Call Cayman Cycle Rentals or stop by the offices at Coconut Place on West Bay Road, the Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman, or Treasure Island Resort, all on Seven Mile Beach. Mountain bicycles are also available for rent from Cayman Cycle Rentals.

Soto's Scooters and Car Fun Rentals also rents bikes; (345) 945-4652.

  3. Hi Folks I thought I would start a new thread about the best hotel director on

Royal Carribbean. He's a great guy he'll help everyone out unless he is playing Tiger Williams golf. He wears some great studs on formal night too. Little golf clubs he must like golf almost as much as I do. He helped us get to know the second best hotel director John Ray on the Rhapsody

So if anyone wants to join the club join in.

    Do you mean Tiger Woods?

  4. I got the Caribe Hilton for $85 plus taxes 1/4/09 one night post cruise. I read on this thread that others have declined the resort fee at the Marriott. Has anyone been successful refusing to pay resort fee at this Hilton?

Was there on 12/6 and 12/14. No luck. They will inform you at check in that it is mandatory. It will be $11.90. Watch out for the rooms at the Condado Lagoon Villas. There is construction next door, and some noisey equipment on the first floor.

  5. My main beef is: Would you pay the regular/rack rate for these rooms?

I would say, most people would not. Those rooms and furnishings were old and worn out. They are putting those rooms on Priceline because they are not 4 or 5 star rooms. I've used Pricline a lot, and stayed at other Hiltons, and did not get the dreaded "Priceline" rooms. I'm not the only one with this view. The Caribe has a lot of negative reviews.

  6. I just got back and used Priceline for one before/after the cruise. Yes it was cheaper, but be warned about this joint.

Cons: $11.90 per day added resort fee

no food joints nearby, hotel charges $15 for a burger

they will put you in the Condado Lagoon Villas.

the first night they gave us a room, #7116. it was across

from a loud machine that never stopped making noise.

the last night we were "upgraded" to #7727. this room had a view

of the contrsuction site next door. the workers there started work

at 6:00 AM, and their hoist is extremely loud.

Pros: lovely grounds, with a good beach and pool area.

close to piers, ( though on Sunday cabbies won't take you

    to pier for posted rates).

local hamburger place. two blocks east

The people had the front desk were nice, but it was the first time I felt that they put these rooms on Priceline because nobody would pay their regular rate for them...

  7. Is this the one on Higgins next to Hooters? Great location, but you have to watch out for the mopes who come off the expressway to break into the cars. They were going to tear it down and rebuild, till the bottom dropped out.

The one I was thinking about is the Wyndham Garden. The O'hare is the old Sheraton. There is a hopping late night sports bar a short walk south at the Best Western. A little North, you have Chil's, Krispy Kreme, Steak n Shake, all the fine dining...

  8. You'll love the Wyndham, it's a short walk to great pizza, etc. which many of the O'hare hotels don't have. I would bid for a resort in San Juan, you'll enjoy all the amenities and the beach and pool, it's a great way to start a cruise!

  9. I know it's too early to bid for our upcoming cruise out of San Juan, but I am watching with interest what you are all getting. We have 3 rooms reserved at the Clarion Collection Le Consulat at $120 per night currently. However, I was thinking of bidding when it gets closer to our cruise date of May 3.

I have never used Priceline, but am doing a trial run for an upcoming trip to Chicago in the end of January. I asked for bidding help on Biddingfortravel.com and they gave me some good advice. However, my bids were rejected today. BFT said to wait another month and then try again. How far in advance do you usually bid when you do Priceline? Any advice would be helpful.

Watch out for the Congress Hotel in Chicago. Its a dump and the workers have been on strike for years..
