We've had YTD a couple of times when we booked too late to get early dining.  Maybe it was just the ships we were on but it was our experience that dinner seemed to take longer with YTD, plus it was generally nice to have the same wait staff each evening and to get to know them a bit.

As far as not having any obligation to carry on a conversation with folks at a table next to yours, the only time I had a bad experience was with YTD.  We we next to someone who insisted on showing us photos of all their kids, grandkids, bragging about how little he paid for the cruise, and even bringing up politics.  I understand that's not the norm, and thankfully we never saw those folks again for the rest of the cruise.

However, with all that being said, we may still consider YTD.

You can have the same wait staff with YTD every night.  All you have to do is ask.

wemjam Thanks for the PVP idea. Never used one before. I sent a request. If they can help me with this, I will definitely use them for future bookings.

If you get emails from Carnival you already may have one and not know it.  I couldn't get through either and after looking closer at some of my emails I found ones name number and ext in one of the emails.   It wasn't really promentaly placed

I dont think any cruiseline will welcome unvaxxed any time soon ..maybe 1 or 2 years, but I'd say not this year. Not with new variants. It's fine if they dont get vaccinated but right now cruising isnt a good vacation choice for them.

You really think they will keep kids of ships for that long?

Louisiana has been very slow to get vaccinated. Even when bars gave away shots for shots. Don't try to blame the mayor for everything. I'm not sure how people think they are going to cruise without being vaccinated.

A matre d' I know emailed he is schedule to be on Glory in early September.

I am in Louisiana.  And the Major in New Orleans has done a bad job.

This will make it easier for Carnival to know who to deny initial boarding or later quarantine if any member of the group tests positive.

On a fully Vaccinated cruise I don't see why you would need to quarantine anyone for exposier that is the whole point of the Vaccine.

Keep your fingers crossed but our mayor has been very very very slow to open anything. She is still trying to say that everyone at Saint’s games this year has to wear masks.

I live in Shreveport so I know how your major has mistreated  you guys.  It is about the same drive to either port.   New Orleans is usually cheaper.   But I have family in Galveston County  so I save on a hotel and parking if I go that route.   But Still Like to compare.

I know I am reaching, but this stuck out to me this morning. Carnival filed bankruptcy in 2012.

    Quote from his post:

So please can ask or a dollop more patience from you and once we kick off the new year I am sure the beards will tell me exactly what will be happening as we bring cruising and bring the fun back to you as soon as possible.

After this bastard of a year, the year 2012 tried so hard to be I realised this morning I must not get irritated by silly little things. Yep, I must summon my inner Elsa and “ let it go.”

Yes liberty OTS is out of Galveston. I have as cheap as 650 plus taxes for a pr cabin. (Gty rate cheaper but rcl doesnt allow solo to book gty for some unknown reason), 3 in the high 600s to under 750. One is 1007 including taxes for a prime corner aft balcony. It's the only one over 750.

The one for 650 showed about 613 for a gty but I'm not allowed as I said to book gty.  Rcl also still has cwc that carnival no longer has and lift and shift. The 650 rate was originally for jan 2021, but I lifted it to dec 12, 2021. The pr .. promenade cabins are the ones that look inward at the promenade and have the bowed window seat to watch parades and stuff going on in the promenade. So you dont have to stand in the crowd. I like them.

This new vista is almost 1000 for the lowest cost cabin I could find on vista next sept 2021.

The two I have march 2022 were both originally booked on jewel OTS but lifted and shifted to allure and then rcl changed them to liberty, but my TA called up to get first choice of cabins. I could have had any balcony almost on Liberty, only a few humps on deck 8 I saw booked. But I had my choice of pretty much the best balcony on liberty for total cost of 1007 with taxes and fees. I had upgraded to a D2 the top balcony on rcl on jewel before the lift and switch. I actually downgraded to a D4 with the move from allure to liberty, but they let me downgrade to the corner aft facing balcony. Looks like a bigger balcony though they say deck 7 is even bigger, but holds 3 people.

So yea I am paying a lot less on rcl ... but it took some work by my TA and all the little games rcl is playing. So yes good reason I have 5 rcl booked and only moving the one ccl out to later 2021. Price is better on rcl.

Idk what to expect, but I get the diamond balcony discount on rcl, carnival doesnt offer similar and free drinks in the diamond lounge though I've only been in once, I prefer a little wine. I get 3 drinks a day added to my card I can drink anywhere during the 3.5 happy hour in diamond lounge, so can order 3 glasses of wine or mixed drinks with dinner. Free. As a added sweetener to lower prices. So yes I think ccl prices are artificially high due to the big obc being offered.

I am looking at September now on Vista is no were near what you are quoting.  And everingthing I am seeing shows RCCL in the same period of time cheaper.  Honestly I have never seen RCCL cheaper out of Galveston and I have looked.

Carnival is already higher than my rcl cruises, I think because of the $600 obc. That's the only reason I booked the one ccl cruise the high obc. The others are all rcl and at much lower prices than what I can book ccl at for the same number of days. ..which is unusual for rcl to be lower than ccl. Like I said I think it's the large obc propping up ccl prices. Once they quit canc.... if they ever do ccl prices will drop imo.

Rcl never offered extra obc and their fcc rules keep changing and much more restrictive so prices didnt push up like ccl did. The vista cruise my ta is booking is about $200 more than some of my week long liberty OTS cruises. I dont expect this to last.

Ccl prices artificially propped up atm.

Are the RCL  out of Galveston like Vista?  Because I haven't seen RCL cheaper than Carnival out of Galveston.  If you are comparing RCL non Galveston it is apples to oranges because Galveston cruises almost always cost more?   I ask because I haven't seen RCL cheaper out of Galveston on any cruise that has a chance to sail

I have been thinking about this for the past year. Covid just made it more real. What I'd been thinking is, Would Carnival ever try to compete with Royal and increase not only the price, but the quality of the product as well? Carnival, like all the lines, used to be pretty classy. That's gone the way of the dodo, but if Carnival is forced to raise prices, will they change their targeted audience?

    Just a thought.

I find the ideal of raising prices unlikely.  Carnival would always like to charge more.  But the question is will people pay more?   I think it is highly unlikely they  will.
