It may well have arrived by air to start with, but the criminal investigation taking place in to the Ruby Princess is about the actions of the ships management after the illness became apparent on board - on two cruises.
If their actions are found to be wanting, then they should be held to account.I am not sure why you have aimed your comment at me about the Ruby Princess.Just remember
if we could not fly we would not be up this creek and some of the responsablity must go to the airlines.

Im sure the increase in new Covid cases that have been reported in China due to overseas
travelers has not come from cruise ships.
Me thinks it might be the airplane again.

I understand that NZ Govt is considering taking legal action against Carnival as it has been established that the Ruby Princess Cruise port stop resulted in several NZ'ers developing Covid. Australia has already commenced its criminal investigation into Ruby Princess.True or not Covid -19 arrived by air and we had no idea it was here until the infected fell sick.
Should we consider legal action against the airline?

If these were ocean liners being used solely as transportation, that might be relevant. These are floating hotels taking people on vacation. Airplanes serve many more functions. Most flights are short in duration versus days or weeks long. They therefore never get to the point of becoming sick wards that require so many government resources (federal, state, & local). It's this last issue that has put cruise lines on the ropes because most governments, particularly the U.S. government, have insisted the industry come up with a way to plan for & pay for these situations going forward. Basically, the industry shot itself in the foot by not voluntarily stopping cruises sooner, particularly when it was painfully obvious what was likely to (and did) happen.
Here in New Zealand it was the airlines that were the main reason for infection which came very quick.
At least with cruising and proper reporting they were easy to send away. Put the blame where
it belongs on the airlines.Cruising it just an easy target

Looking at a online cruise agent that shows booked and available cabins.
They are still plenty of people booked for next season and they are advertising all cruises.
I think domestic cruises will be a go from October.
The cruises that go to the islands and NZ may be altered and have a lot of sea days.
When it does start,it’s going to be busy as everyone has cabin fever.
Yes you must move forward with a positive attitude. Those of us that enjoy cruising will be able to
cruise again when things get sorted.

This has been discussed. If your new cruise is cancelled your FCC will be reissued.
Thank you

Hi all I have cancelled our b2b cruises for Europe in July and booked one in Australia for January using my fcc from my deposit
to book and will apply the fcc from the second cruise when that turns up in a couple of weeks or 6 .
My question is what will happen if that cruise is cancelled by Celebrity will I be able to forward those fcc amounts on to another cruise.
I thought I read some where you could only use fcc once or is that not the case with this covid-19 scenario.

Thank you Celebrity today I cancelled my two cruises to the Baltic and the Med B2B July and re booked to cruise out of Melbourne
new years.I had payed my non refundable deposit for both they used one for the deposit and will apply the second to that when is comes available as FCC.
I was very happy with how easy this was.He did let me know it would take about 4 to 5 weeks for FCC to show.

I think cruising might resume later this year, but whether international ports are visited is incredibly unlikely. In other words if you embark in the US you will probably stay in the US.
Here in New Zealand the government has made it very clear that they do not expect to reopen borders this year and that it could be as long as 18 months, that's the expected timeline for a covid-19 vaccine being ready and so for the foreseeable future international travel is done and dusted.
Hi where did you get the information about our government not expecting to open borders this year or as long as 18 months.

I started by saying “this is my crazy thought” Celebrity has not officially cancelled any cruises after April 10th.
Hi all we have a B2B in July and August and would be surprised if they sail or even if we could fly to Europe by then.

Rumor has it and you will only get 100% FCC. Call your TA to make sure this is true.

Limiting travel at this point is largely for show, so that people don't panic and so they feel like the authorities are doing something. More and more mathematical models and infectious disease specialists are admitting that stopping the spread of this virus is nearly impossible. What should be talked about more is that the vast majority of people who contract the virus will be fine. The mortality rate among known cases is around 3%. It's likely lower than that in reality because many people have had a mild case or no symptoms and so were never diagnosed. I'm truly sorry for those who have lost a loved one. For relatively young and healthy people, this illness is no worse than influenza. I cruise Saturday on Equinox and will take reasonable precautions but am not worried.
Well said I had this same conversation with my wife.

Hi all I was thinking of shouting my wife a hair cut on board our next cruise as we are doing a B2B Baltic and Med cruise in July
and thought being away from home for 2 months she would need a hair cut.
Nothing shows up on the planner and I was wandering if it ever would.
Just trying to get and idea of a price. She would need a colour and cut
This is how we spell color in New Zealand

Hi all I noticed on our last 4 or 5 cruises on Royal there did not seem to be a lot of people using the main dinning for dinner.
On our next cruise with Celebrity we are cruising the Baltic and the Med on Silhouette and was wandering if we should get
a table for 2 or try our luck at a bigger table, but from what I saw on Royal we would have spent most nights alone.
My question is do you think table mates are more likely to use the main dinning room on this type of cruise.

Yes, you definitely can. If you know the TA you want to use, Celebrity can add them to the reservation immediately when you book and you will still get all of your perks. If not, you have a window to add a TA after the booking is made.
Cool thanks
-
Hi all when you book a on board future cruise while sailing on a Celebrity ship and receive perks, can you transfer
your booking to your own TA when you get home and receive further perks.
I think I remember doing this years ago with royal.

Yes, you can set your smart phone to ignore cell towers and to connect only via the ship's wi-fi. There are several ways to do it, depending on your iPhone. For example, you can put your iPhone into airplane mode and then selectively enable the wi-fi.
Thanks very much for your help

Hi all can I disconnect my phone from the network on my cruise so that I don't receive any incoming calls.
But are able to connect to face book via the on board internet to send my holiday snaps.

Diamond members have access to the lounge if the ship has one. There are also 3 drinks per day loaded on your card.
