Second was the only aspect of the refit I did not like.  Lots of new cabins were added to where the spa used to be.  Gone are the wonderful mens/womens steam and sauna with the great views of the ocean.  All cabins now.  Also gone is the forward facing fitness center with great views.  It's all cabins now as well.  The size of the spa was greatly reduced and now occupies just a small interior area that is in the center of where all these cabins were added.  It's disappointing especially because the Voyager Class had one of the nicest spas and fitness centers afloat.  The fitness center was actually moved aft, to an area on the port side of the ship.

Thank you for the great review, in it you have answered one of the main questions I had about the new refurbishment of Navigator and that is your confirmation that the GYM has been relocated further aft and that the Mens and Womens change rooms are gone that previously offered the steam and sauna rooms. I agree the Voyager and Freedom class ships offers/offered the best set up and I'm now fearing that both class of ships when "Amplified" will suffer the same fate as Navigator........do we know if the same was done to Mariner when it was amplified?? Could you tell if the new Gym area was offering Mens and Womens steam facilities? cheers

  2. New ports would be very welcome, unfortunately infrastructure is very poor in Australia and New Zealand and even worse in the South Pacific so thats a big challenge, Thumbs up to Brisbane and Carnival for sinking some money into their new facility, now basing a ship in Brisbane might enable striking different points further north than the standard Sydney offering so good news re Radiance.

Sydney just needs to get its act together as its loosing a lot of business due capacity constraints, and Melbourne needs some money poured into as the port their is too susceptible to high winds, I see the Goldcoast as massive potential but again the hunger for an outcome to all parties up there is proving a big challenge.

  3. Whilst another RCL ship is more than welcome in Australian waters and especially great news for Brisbane Im hoping the "Big news" "Big Adventures" and "Big Debut" is alluding to another Quantam class or perhaps Oasis class ship for Sydney.

Seranade would be still be welcome in Sydney as it would add more sailings (to some extent as we lost Explorer) it will still fall short of offering better and more modern RCL presence in local waters, should Seranade be the candidate perhaps it would be best utilised for a year round home port to compete with Carnival and P&O.

I believe the market would support it and if RCL are buying up a position on an "Perfect Day" island it would further  validate and support year round porting to that mystery island and winter itineraries to the South Pacific.......can only hope!

  4. I only know a couple of answers from my recent cruise:

The rooms do have a mini fridge

12 cans of soft drink per person can be loosely packed in your hand luggage. Soft drink in bottles is not allowed to be taken onboard.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Howdy and Thankyou for the update, I will be sure to pack only cans then! lol, Cheers

  5. Hi, can anyone provide the following answers?

What does a standard soft drink cost eg can of Pepsi Max?

What does a standard beer cost?

What does a standard Glass of Red and White wine cost?

What is the lower and upper range for cocktails?

Do staterooms have a mini refrigerator?

Does P&O Australia allow any soft drinks to be carried onto theship or is it a NIL liquids policy?

Does Pacific Explorer offer seperate Mens and Womens Sauna like it used to be when operated by Princess as Dawn Princess?

Is it correct that all Specialty dining venues can only bebooked onboard?

Is it correct there are two (2) adult retreats on Explorer?is there an admission charge like they have on Princess at the Sanctuary?

Is there a cover charge for the caberet shows? how much? andwhat is included?

Having done 80 cruises with other carriers I find the P&O website almost useless, and their Philippine based call Center on three occasions I called seemed staffed with representatives not being that knowledgeable and always in a hurry to handle the call.

After reading all the reviews I'm a little apprehensive trying P&O Australia but I'm willing to try giving it fits our schedule with some friends.

If anyone has definitive and accurate answers to the above it would be appreciated, cheers.:D
