  1. I've done this cruise twice. Both times we could check in around 11:30-12. Get on board eat lunch. D get back off to explore OSJ or head down the block to CVS to get waters, juices or wine whatever you forgot. Our luggage was in our room by 130ish. Awesome ports enjoy!

  2. Haha, we are known for seafood. IDK where you're coming from but I'd go for Alaska. Perhaps consider flying into New England renting a car and spending a few days touring Boston then driving to Portland among the route 1 corridor. There's so much you can do along the coastal area in NE it would be a shame to just spend a few hours in each port. As far as spending time by the pool. Is there an indoor pool? It could be 90 and muggy or 65 and cool lol. It is New England were if you don't like the weather just want an hour it will change. We run the hear in the car in the am and AC by noon 😉

  3. If we're looking at the August 27th sailing wouldn't the weather still be relatively warm because it's before labor day?

If you were going between this cruise and an Alaska cruise, which one would you choose?

We live between the Boston and Portland area. It can still be very warm and muggy late August/early September the last few years. If you can I would suggest later in the year as their won't be any color that time of year and Boston can be a bit crowded as the college kids are all moving in and the other kids aren't back in school until usually after Labor Day.

Both cities are very easy to navigate and Boston has so much history. We love just going down for the day and seeing what we come across. The Freedom Trail is free and now that the Big Dig is complete (or is it:rolleyes::rolleyes:) the city is actually very tourist friendly

  4. There's a CVS like a block away. You can see it from the pier. Leave the pier take a left and keep walking past the Marriott and señor frogs. It's right there. They have EVERTHING in there. As stated before I've seen people buy the booze at the pier go through security and simply put in in their backpacks or carry ons. Carnival has their tables set up just inside the ship to hand over your liquor. I've also seen people buy liquor at the ports the security tells them to go to tables and they just keep walking. It's pretty simple

  5. I will be on the same cruise on the 22nd! I have been a few cruises, but never to Puerto Rico. We are flying in the night before as well. I figure we can drop the luggage at the port early and then explore. Is there a lot within walking distance from the port?

Yes, if your cruising with carnival then drop your bags and go explore. The forts are within walking distance and there is actually a free trolley that brings you from fort to fort (idk where you catch it in OSJ we always just walk). Also a great CVS about a block away for any last minute things you forgot. Easy port to get around.

  6. LOVE both places. Both are super easy to walk around on your own. Boston is loaded with history! You'll have a blast, you'll be cold but you'll have a blast!

  7. We're going on the AOS in a couple of weeks. First time on RCCL but we have sailed twice out of San Juan on another line prior. Yes, there are lots of locals but who cares. We sailed last year out of Miami and guess what...there were lots of Miami based people on that ship that were rude as well. No matter where you go you'll find nice, kind, rude and arrogant people. Who cares. Are you there for them or for the ports? Personally I love the southern ports and guess what....we got some ideas of things to do from some of the locals chatting with them at the bar or hot tubs because they are experienced in these ports! Just book it and enjoy!

  9. Good Morning Isa65,

My DH and myself will be at your beautiful island on Fri 2/6 from 8-6 For some reason I can't figure out what we want to do. We've talk about the Marriott for a day pass or Blue Bay. However, the floating bridge and market sounds cool as well...Usually I can figure this out quickly but for some reason Curacao has me puzzled.

    thanks for all your help!

  10. It's very easy to do. Take a taxi to Red Hook and then catch the ferry to Cruz Bay. Once there you'll find a ton of open air taxis to take you were ever you want to go on the island. Same for the reverse. Id suggest leaving STJ in the 2pm ferry if you're all aboard is 430ish. Traffic can be heavy getting back into STT

  11. Why not do it on your own? Get off the boat and take a cab to Redhook. From there you catch a ferry over to St John. There are plenty of open air taxis once you get off the ferry that will give you an island tour. They will usually drop you off at trunk or cinnamon if you like for a couple of hours. Then you can catch a cab back for the ferry back over. Its super easy and lots of posts/info on doing it on your own

  12. We will be docking in St Thomas on 2/2 and are looking to venture over to St John via Red Hook. We are super early risers so we plan on being right off the ship and over to the ferry. Last time we did Trunk and this time looking in to Cinnamon. Are there public restrooms there are are the taxis back to the port for the ferry back across as readily available as they are at Trunk.

    Thanks everyone!

  13. When we went w Javin we were back around 4-430. We didn't depart until 6 so it gave us time to shop.

We almost did Javin a 3rd time but we are doing a volcano hike this February with Poinciana Tours. He's also bring us to Corkleshell beach after so we can hit Lions

  14. Javin picks you up at the ship and then brings your through the city on the way to the black rocks. Now you don't only go to see the black rocks he actually guides you down the rocks and takes some amazing pictures with the waves crashing behind you. From there you stop at an old sugar plantation and while learning history you also get to try some fresh sugar for the upcoming hike. He stops in his 'childhood backyard' where nobody else from your ship will see. It's amazing! You hike right into the rain forest. The first time with Javin it was just my husband and myself and we got to walk right into the water. Our second trip we had a larger group so we stayed up a little higher but it was still amazing. He makes sure to watch for time so you can get everything in and still get back to the ship in time. Once out of the forest you'll have some juice/water and some local pastries. Now I'm fussy but they were yummy! He also makes sure to brings soap and water for fresh hands when you're having your snack. Next you're off to a ship wreck to snorkel over it and see some of the largest star fish ever. Finally you end up at Cockleshell beach and Lions Bar. You have to have Lions punch. (I prefer without the spice) but it's to die for! Our entire bus was a weee bit tipsy going back to the ship. Enjoy it's our favorite tour! Ohh and he takes pics the whole time and uploads them for free to his site for you. ImageUploadedByForums1419623822.277525.jpg.915d664d7d1ec8e8e9766abff51a3ba8.jpg
