I didn't realize until today that NCLH shares held in my IRA would count as Shareholder OBC.
1) Is that correct - it can be held in my IRA?
2) Two of my next three cruises are as a solo in a solo balcony. Ready about shareholder OBC on nclhltd website, it says "Singles paying 200% are entitled to full onboard credit value." Any clue how much my credit would be sailing in a solo balcony on a 7 day cruise? It says "$100 Onboard Credit per Stateroom on Sailings of 7 to 14 Days."
3) I already purchased premium internet for both cruises, but could cancel and purchase on board to use up my credit. I have purchased excursions for one of the cruises but could follow the CC advice to cancel at the shore excursion desk and then repurchase. I do have the FAS $50 excursion credit for both cruises.
I understand that this is non-refundable and can't be used for daily service charge, CruiseNext, or gambling (although I did read mixed reviews on Bingo - but I think Bingo has been overpriced)
Any other tips? Thanks!

Try post #16 or #80 on this thread.
Thanks! I was reading too fast and thought the letter in #80 was the example of what it would look like. (Long day! I need a nap!!)

I have a cruise booked on this ship. All of my looking & research indicates that BALCONY cabins do NOT have any outlets near the beds. I purchased a long (withOUT surge protector) extension cord so I can use my CPAP.

Any withdrawn posts could be because the person's name (which I suppose could be fake) was on the letter that is now posted here on CC even if it was withdrawn elsewhere.
I keep looking and can't find the letter posted on CC ??

One couple will not tender. The other couple is likely to tender. Activity level 1 sightseeing type tours.
-
Not adventurous at all! One of the excursions we are looking forward to is a golf cart excursion (with driver / guide) in San Juan which will be basically like a private tour as they aren't open that day but said they would have a driver & taxi for us that day. 🙂
-
Thanks - the most disabled couple does have experience w/ tender ports and the other couple has some cruising experience as well. They may opt to stay on board for tender ports.

Is there any reason he can't just make the new reservation, then cancel the other one after he is onboard?
-
Thanks - they have been in touch with the accessibility department but haven't yet discussed tender ports that I know of. Good point on tender port. He has a progressively degenerative disease so not sure what his status will be then. Right now he is able to walk, uses walker most of the time, scooter for long distances - but at some point that will become a wheelchair. Others in our party can not walk for long distances, etc.

@DorothyB we saw men in dress pants, jeans and dress shorts. I have read on some European cruises dress shorts were not allowed in the evening.I didn’t see any tee shirts. A lot of 3 button collared shirts. Women were in capris, pants, dresses or skirts. I saw one tux. Nothing too fancy.
Thanks - still too fancy for me 🙂

We always cruised NCL. A friend told us about the MSC Yacht club. We tried them the week of 5/5. 1/2 the price of the cheapest haven room for the same route. Different menu every day in YC restaurant. Filet Mignon on the menu every day and it was fork tender.Salmon also was always on the menu. High tea complete with white gloved butlers served in the top sail lounge. Free Wi-Fi. Contents of the fridge included and replaced. A free bottle of liquor or wine of our choice in the cabin.A daily newspaper delivered to our cabin.Different entertainment every night in the theater. Just a fun ship.MSC Seashore. There was no comparison. The only thing we’ll miss from NCL is our free bag of laundry. We won’t be going back.
What is dress code?

Thanks - it is St Thomas instead of St John but they might either go to St John or be able to recommend a company on St John. Passed the info on to my friend.

Thanks! We actually have an update on this port - my friend contacted the company that was closed on Saturday. They are going to have a driver for us on the day they are closed!!

Five of us are cruising in January and George Town, Grand Cayman is one of our ports. One person in our party will use either a scooter or wheelchair and I think one other with a walker and maybe one with a cane.
We are looking for accessible excursions. Any that you can recommend?

I am thinking about doing this solo. Leave the ship, take the taxi round trip to the cable car, ride the cable car and back to the ship.
Any thoughts on safety / ease of doing it safely solo?
How long was the taxi ride each way?
Thanks!
-
Edit - never mind - I see that it is NOT handicap accessible.
-
I read a bit about this, but at least one in our party uses a scooter or maybe a wheelchair. Wondering:
1) Are there handicapped accessible taxis at port (I saw that there are fixed price taxies and willing to pay more if needed)?
2) Are there weight limits for the cable car?
3) What is involved on actually getting from the taxi to / from the cable car?
Thanks!!

We found an awesome golf cart excursion but they are closed on Saturdays which is our port day . . .

I'm booked on a cruise in October which happens to coincide with Taylor Swift. A few people have cancelled due to cost of hotels and parking because of the concert. I'm hoping that makes our cruise "less full" but I suspect it won't make a difference.

RE: NCL Concierge
The question is what level of Suite would qualify. Would a Club Balcony Suite qualify since it's really just a balcony cabin with a bigger bathroom? That's just one example. I don't have an answer.
Club Balcony Suite is NOT a Suite - you have to look at the cabin class - if it doesn't begin with S or H then it isn't a suite. 🙂

If we book the FAS do we have to have the specialty dining, and the excursions? We would not book either. Would we save anything in gratuities doing this.? Thank guys
No - when you book, there comes a point in the booking process where there is a little section on the left with the FAS options and little check marks in little boxes. I took the checkmark off the beverage package and the related gratuities were removed automatically. You could do the same for the other options.

We have the "Free at sea" for a cruise in November but we declined the beverage package .... We can have the other free at sea options without the beverage package.
I did the same for all three of the cruises I currently have booked

Thanks for the info on Taino Bay - A lazy river sounds perfect. Might do the cable cars on my own, then the lazy river!
