Thank you for the tip on the butler. And carrot cake sounds yum! We will be sure to try 😃

They serve carrot cake in the main dining room (not sure, but think it is not every night) and for lunch in the haven dining area, but the O'Sheehan's carrot cake is much better!!

We enjoyed breakfast & lunch in the haven dining area almost every day, but a couple of times I ended up having "second breakfast" (I remember once it was bacon and sticky buns from the Garden buffet.

  3. The butler will bring you food from the various restaurants - for instance, I was hungry for O'Sheehan's carrot cake one evening.  I could (and did other nights) go down there to eat it, but they don't do "take out" so if I want it in my room, that is what the butler is for.

Remember that the butler & concierge services several cabins, so give them as much notice as possible.

I'm worried about standing around in a line that's not moving (I'm handicapped and use a cane). My boarding pass says "terminal arrival time: 10:30-11:00". Is that realistic? Should I try to get there earlier? Is there anywhere to sit? Thanks.

I haven't been to San Diego terminal, but at other terminals, a friend using a cane tells the first person to look at paperwork that she is disabled and needs to sit, they took us to an area with chairs.

  5. I was watching a walkthrough of the Jewel and realized that NCL has missed one opportunity to make more sales.  I know you can buy candy (at relatively expensive prices), but they really should start selling soft drinks!!  Many of us have been disappointed that NCL doesn't have our favorite soft drinks available and we aren't allowed to bring them on board.  I would pay $3 for a can of Dr Pepper a couple of times during a cruise!  I'm sure that there are many others who would be willing to pay a premium price for their favorite beverage.

  6. It is different if you are in a suite vs a regular cabin.  Also might vary by vessel.  Is this for a regular cabin?

They have a room service menu. You will pay a fee for each room service order - but if I remember correctly, continental breakfast might not incur a fee??

  7. The suites that have "suite privileges" (not "mini-suites") do eat in the same place as the Haven guests. I've had "suite privileges" in the past (actually on the Jewel Panama transit repositioning cruise) and had breakfast & lunch in the same place as the Haven guests.

  8. I sailed on the Pearl in the Haven last June.  I've never sailed in the haven on a larger ship.  Since the Pearl is also Jewel class, they should be very similar.

Honestly, while I think the "suite" adds a lot of benefit to the cruise for me, I don't know that the actual "haven" makes that much difference.  As long as we get suite benefits, including breakfast & lunch, I'm good.

There are three of us sailing together so we really like the two bedroom suites which we could only book in the haven (actually not sure if they are available as suites outside the haven if they aren't grabbed up before we book).  There are two bedroom "suites" that don't get suite benefits.

The haven part - there isn't really "good" food / beverages.  The quiet lounge area on the main haven deck as well as higher up is nice, but it was HOT in the main haven deck part of the time.  The two hot tubs were great as the ones on the pool deck are frequently crowded.  I never made it into the infinity pool, but want to this coming cruise (I am on the Jewel Apr 9 - 16 in the haven)

  9. Exactly what do you mean by "mini bars"?  The cabins in the Haven have the mini-fridge and a bar area with wine glasses as well as a few dishes, etc.  I suggest that you go to youtube and look for the type of cabin you are interested in to see if there are any tours of those cabins on youtube.

  10. It is subject to change, but the intinerary shows on ncl.com either on your account looking at your booking OR if you just search for your cruise like you were buying it again.  Don't count on being off until an hour after arrival time.  All aboard is 30 minutes before departure so I would be on board an hour before departure.
