  1. I was thinking of purchasing the photo package, pre-cruise. We have all our excursions booked thru Princess. I was wondering if you are on a Princess tour, do you have the opportunity for photos with the dressed characters as you disembark, or are you whisked away with the tour group?

    Thanks.

  2. I have a 14 day cruise coming up. I currently have C752 reserved. When looking at the Princess site, I see E731 is available. It would cost me $450 to upgrade myself.

What do you guys think? Keep the corner aft or go for the mini??

  3. I'm sorry to say that the eggs benedict, in the MDR on Princess, is the worst I have ever had.

    • english muffin not toasted.
    • Can't seem to get the eggs cooked the way you like them.
    • One tablespoon of sauce put on top, then placed in the salamander to brown.

When I asked for more sauce, I was told I could not get any, as the sauce was cold and they warmed it up by putting it in the salamander. It was a dry horrid mess. I have been on 6 different Princess ships and it has been the same on all. :(

At least in the Horizon Court they will get you more sauce. But by the time it arrives you have already finished everything else on your plate and the eggs are cold.

I guess you will just have to judge for yourself.

  4. I do feel for the crew, I have seen them treated terribly by some passengers. I wonder if these folks act the same way at a land based resort?

I agree with xdudex who said Princess's service has been in the gray area. It seems, no matter what the Princess suggestion for things like dress code are, there will always be those who want to push the envelope.

Princess should empower their employees and not have them in constant fear of being sent home over a complaint by a sanctimonious blowhard. Princess should reward employees who do enforce the “so called rules”.

Yes, you are paying for your cruise, but you are a guest of Princess. Princess lets you know ahead of time what they expect in terms of dress when in the MDR on formal night. If Princess would stick by their guns and absolutely refuse to let people in, who were inappropriately dressed, I feel there would be less complaining. If someone starts to huff and puff, let them. A standard answer of “This is the required dress code for the evening. If you care not to abide, you are welcome to dine at one of the specialty restaurants or Horizon Court”. End Of Story. No reporting of the Maitre’d or Head Waiter. At this point Princess would reward the employee for excellent service.

Have someone stationed at the pool and when chair hogs arrive, let them be told there is no saving of chairs. If they complain, they can be told, if they don’t like the policy’s of Princess, they are free to disembark at the next port. Should they be total boors, they get disembarked at the next port. Why is society cow-towing to all this me, me, me?

Have some backbone Princess. I don’t appreciate crying babies at the adults only pool, nor should I be the one to have to ask them to leave. An employee, without fear of retribution, should do that.

  5. I would prefer that they did away with the whole auto tip and included it as part of the cost of the cruise while still distributing the money to the staff. Same end cost to cruise but no angst about having to tip.

I agree and wish the gratuity was included in the price. This way no one would be able to remove it and stiff the crew.

  6. When we disembarked in Southampton, we took the Princess shuttle. We were on one of the first buses to depart the pier. Our flight was at 4pm. We arrived at the airport a little past 9am. For $75 we were able to change our tickets and get on the 10:20am flight, with plenty of time to spare. :)

  7. We had B727, an inside, on the Coral to Alaska. Access to the back deck was just steps away and very few people ever went out there. We sat in the lounge chairs and had beautiful views of both sides. :D

  8. We just met a month ago. She knows I'm older. She's 24, I'm 38. She guessed my age one night over drinks at 33. She likes older more mature men. We are a match made in heaven in every way. I never set out to date younger women, we just clicked and it happened. Yeah, she will know soon enough and I will tell her. But finding out at the cruise check in stand is not the way I want it to come out.

You just met a month ago and you are taking her on a cruise???? Can you say 'sugar daddy'.

Let's hope you are still together by the time the cruise rolls around.

  9. Hello, everyone! We are sailing to Alaska on the Island Princess in August. I am a little confused about the Lotus Spa Pool area. Is it just for passengers paying for spa services? Any information would be helpful. The Princess website doesnt really address this question but maybe we are just supposed to know this.

On the Island and the Coral the Lotus Spa Pool is just for those who pay for the Sanctuary. It is not very big, so you are not missing out on anything. It is basically just to dip in to cool off.

  10. Just on the Coral in June. Pumps in the shower were for hair products and shower gel. The steward did leave a nice sized tube of lotion, and when I had put it away in my cosmetics bag, he left another, so I started doing it every day and a few to take home!

that green stuff in the pump bottles is beyond terrible, bring your own hair products and a cake of soap. The soap size has been cut in half and is just big enough to wash your hands. All the nice goodies we used to get when booking a mini suite are gone....while the cruise prices have gone up.:cool::eek:

And thus the reason why Priness has gone to dispensers on the wall. From all those folks loading up their suitcases with bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion and bars of soap! Stop complaining about the rise in costs and stop taking more stuff than you need.

  11. I would not recommend 3 women sharing a cabin, even if it is a mini. I did it with 2 friends several years ago. I would rather pay the single supplement and go in an interior by myself than share with 2 women ever again!

There were always bathroom issues. Temperature of the cabin was fine for 2 but way too cold for one. One likes to fall asleep with the TV on, one likes total darkness and silence. One refused to sleep in the upper bunk, leaving 2 of us to take turns. The upper is noisy and a pain to get in and out of.

Unless you are sisters, I wouldn't even consider 3 in a cabin.

  12. Thanks for the replys so far. I was wondering if anyone had some specific information about cabin E206 or the other O6 OV's. It looks like they are larger than the regular OV cabin and on the picture it states "your premium OV stateroom and layout will differ from what is shown here."

I was a little worried about noise from the theatre as Jazzbeau mentioned, but I am usually up and out early. I will just try to go to the last show of the evening and then I can avoid theatre noise when going to bed. ;)

  13. I had an inside cabin on the Baja deck for my upcoming AK cruise. Princess upgraded me to E206. I was wondering if anyone had some input on this cabin. It looks a bit bigger than the standard OV because it is next to balconies.

Princess also offered me an upsell to a balcony for $99/pp, but since I am traveling alone it would be $198. I don't think a balcony in May is that important. I decided to decline that since I am already paying double for the cruise. Princess would not tell me the location of the balcony ahead of time.

Just wondering if I should keep E206 or go back into the pool.

  14. It is pretty much open to anyone who shows up. Usually there is just a sign on a table somewhere that says elite lounge. If there is someone there just tell them you are in a suite as you walk in.

On my recent CB cruise there was a fellow at the entrance to Skywalkers asking to see your card on the way in. If you happen to "sneak" in you are not going to get the drink of the day at the special price anyway. All you would be getting were some munchies you could pick up yourself at the Horizon Court.

  15. According to Princess's smoking policy, "Violations to this policy will result in a $250 fine for each occurrence, which will be charged to the passenger’s stateroom account." I bet if the cabin stewards got a cut of this then they'd be a lot more willing to report any violations.

That was my thought exactly. :D A little incentive never hurt anyone. Plus it would be revenue generator for Princess. If the steward got $50 for each violation, it would be a $200 profit for Princess. ;-)
