  1. I have seen other posts about Sunday. I have been looking at tours and it appears they don't run on Sunday. Is that because the chocolate and rum factories are closed? There are other things that I want to do and see too, but I am fascinated with the chocolate process and love rum. lol Thank you.

  2. Thank you for your review. I am looking for a good tour operator. I was to Grenada 25 years ago and remember going to a spice market and how beautiful and green it was. My dh has never been.

Which viator your was "perfect" - so we can help suggest other tour options.

And the viator tours usually also do cruise ship pick-ups, as the port is in the north.

If it's the Heritage Rum and chocolate one, yeah - won't run on a Saturday as the estate home is closed one weekends; the family needs some privacy!

You can contact a couple different tour companies and see if they can out together a full day trip to the actual cocoa plantations down south! (Find Doux or Hotel Chocolat, etc). Plus see the iconic Pitons!

Check Serenity TVL, Real St Lucia Experience, GemXcursions, etc to customize a day.

I'd suggest heading straight to Soufriere, hit either Fond Doux or Hotel Chocolat for the chocolate making experience, lunch in the area, then back to the rum distillery and back to ship..  it'll be a full day, but you'll see a lot and enjoy lots of experiences.

Yes, it was the Heritage Rum and Chocolate tour. You're good!! Thank you so much for all your helpful tips here. I will do just that. Great suggestions and I appreciate you taking the time to pass them along.. Thank you again. 😄

  4. Question about the mud baths. Are you able to get the mud out of your suit and such before you move on? Do you actually get any physical benefits that you noticed? I would love to do it, but was uncertain about getting all the mud out of places that might be uncomfortable later in the day. LOL

  5. I know no one is going anywhere right now and I can only hope that they will find a way to cruise by next February. Soooooo  I am looking for a tour of a few places and includes rum and or chocolate. There is a Viator tour that is perfect but 1) they only leave from the north hotels and 2) not Saturday when we are in port. Thank you for any help.

  6. I was just wondering if someone could recommend one of the tour companies that have the stair type thing as a means of getting on and off their cat for snorkeling. My husband is in great physical shape (for his age) but for some reason struggles with those ladders, especially if they are short.

    Thank you.

I will have to try this tour group next time I'm there. The tour we used had an old van and the AC was not doing a great job. I wish I could remember their name. I could not wait for it to end. We did love St Kitts, beautiful Island, great beaches.

You will not regret it, he is amazing.

  8. I think we will be on the same cruise with you. As I am typing this from Miami (we just got off a cruise from Miami) and have done several out of Ft Lauderdale, I prefer the Ft Lauderdale area. Miami is nice for a change but I prefer FLL. We took Lyft everywhere in Miami and the traffic is horrific and the airport is a zoo.

Since you are leaving from Ft Lauderdale, I would stay there. In Ft Lauderdale there is a water taxi that you can spend a whole relaxing day on and look at all the pricey homes, you can go down to the new Margaritaville Hotel and that area is fun to walk around, you can stop at bars etc. A lot to see and do and it is a hop on hop off type of boat. So fun!!  https://watertaxi.com/store/?utm_medium=cpc&gclid=CjwKCAjwqfDlBRBDEiwAigXUaLTrQ9jaRmg499kIcvF5RP8ObyUkuePKu-vIbE4NU7Y9fxJXjbB_2BoCgJQQAvD_BwE  We usually stay at the Westin https://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/flllw-the-westin-fort-lauderdale-beach-resort/ which is right across the street from the beach and there is a lovely wide sidewalk that you can walk along the beach and view the ocean without the sand, for a long way. You can also walk along the beach too. You could easy spend 2 days there. I highly recommend it. This is what we will be doing for sure.

Yes, they will deliver the entire package to your stateroom before you arrive.

From what I saw when I went to buy the package, they do add a service charge at the end (it comes to $46.02), but you can actually choose what day they deliver it to the cabin. It can be first day or later. Hope that helps.

Also, the water on the ship is ocean water desalinated but some salt still remains. While it tastes great, I have a tendency to swell in my ankles, but I am also of "senior" age. It doesn't mean it will happen to you.

If you are Diamond you can get all you need from the DL each night or use your vouchers for water at any bar.  Just guessing you might be D from your signature.

Yes I am. Really?? I did not know that. Thank you.. I was feeling stupid about asking this question, but see, you never know what information you gain. So say, if we go to the diamond lounge and then before 8p we stop at a bar and ask for 3 waters each? That would work?

Royal sells the 1L Evian bottles, and a 12 bottle package costs around $39.

Yes, thanks Bob, that's what I was looking at.. Then I saw the $7 plus service charge on top of it.. So because I wasn't sure how many I would actually drink I wondered if it was better to buy them individually (if available and cost) or buy the package.

  12. It has been my past experience that you can only find the 1 liter bottles of water once in awhile. I don't know whether to buy the water package or not as I drink a lot of water and can drink those little bottles in nothing flat. Yes, the ship's water tastes great but I swell up too much so I try and limit the amount I drink of it. Are the 1 liter bottles of water readily available and if so how much are they on board..

Yes - they do offer a shuttle to the Port of Miami.  Need to reserve it the day before with your ship name and it costs $6 pp.

The La Granja restaurant across the street is very reasonably priced and very good.  Here is their website:

    https://www.lagranjarestaurants.com/en/about-us/

A more upscale Spanish style restaurant which would be a 10 minute Uber ride is called Jamon-Iberico Pata Negra.  Excellent but a little pricey.  Here is their website:

    http://patanegrarestaurant.com/

Another tapas style restaurant about 3 blocks walking distance is Niu Kitchen.  Here's their website:

    http://niukitchen.com/

Or you can walk a little farther (about 6 blocks) or Uber to the Bayside Marketplace on the waterfront where there are a number of the more traditional restaurants and a lot of stores to browse.  Here is their website:

    http://www.baysidemarketplace.com/

Or ask the Hotel for other options.  Enjoy your stay and your cruise!

BTW the blue drink in your avatar looks like my wife's favorite sail away beverage.  (Which would basically be anything blue in color but preferable with Curacao).  And I'll take the beer...

Thank you so much! I could not find anywhere on their site about a shuttle. That’s great!! And thank you for the foodie tips!!!

For downtown location, hotel shuttle and close to the port, food on site and good restaurants nearby, we have stayed at and been very pleased with the Courtyard Marriott Downtown / Brickell area.

But as with any downtown location it will not be as budgeted as a more remote location.

Do they have a shuttle to ship? We are staying there next Wed and Thurs night. Any suggestions for not real expensive restaurants in the area? We like fresh seafood, cuban would be good and breakfast options. Thank you

I typically don't purchase the package.  I don't drink soda and don't want all the sugar in the frozen drinks, milkshakes, smoothies, juice drinks, calorie bomb coffee drinks, etc.  I'm not a fruity cosmo type drinker and I don't drink wine.  On our last cruise (Oasis), we brought water and soda (for DH, in a carry on) and I brought all the Starbucks gift cards we had accumulated over the year.  On sea days I indulged in one or two light beers by the pool and an occasional vodka tonic with dinner.  I'm a light weight - if I drank enough "to break even", I would miss the entire cruise sleeping it off in my cabin 😂

I did not realize you could bring water and soda onboard. I thought that was a no-no?

  16. I am totally on the fence because we are Diamond. With access to alcohol from 4:30 - 8p, I just don't know. We usually have a few cocktails before dinner and then grab one to go or bring a glass of wine with us to dinner. Then maybe have an after dinner drink that we pay for. I really can't drink that much and what we found is my dh drank way more just to get his "money's worth". I will have to buy water though. I'm thinking of the water bundle so I can get the liter bottles.

Wow, that seems expensive! We are doing RCI's Blue Bay Beach Break next month, also for the ease and convenience, for the euro equivalent of $33 pp. Admittedly we got that price during a sale but even so the "normal" price is $39 pp. Our times are 9.15 - 1.15 and the price includes a lounger and a bottle of water. Maybe yours includes some food, for that price?

How did you like it? Considering this tour in 2 weeks. Looking for shade and snorkeling at the top of the list. Also wondering if RCI's tour includes chairs?

When travelling to the US, one of my favourite things to do is going to Walmart and buy tons of candy that is not available here. And when I buy candy I feel like I need to order a truck that pulls backwards to the store entrance making that backwards-beeping noice.

When boarding Oasis last November, I had bags (many!) full of snacks with me! One bag was so full that it broke and I had to collect all the good stuff from the floor in the terminal. My mother was somehow embarassed, because I had so much stuff with me...but she was nice enough to give me an empty bag from her carry-on.

At security, no one cared about my snacks.

But I do not know if there are any official regulations and rules. In my case, no one mentioned anything about the snacks that were easily visible in the bags.

I love this!!  When we have been in Germany, we load up on all the wonderful chocolate and snacks that you have and bring them back. I also love shopping at Aldi because I can get all the wonderful products made in Germany. 😄

I booked a Grand Suite on upcoming 7 night Radiance (500.00 for the two of us).  I booked a Grand Suite B2B 7 night each on Freedom, (1000.00 for the two of us).  Booked 2 different  Harmony cruise dates Grand Suites 7 night cruises.  (500.00 for each cruise for the two of us.).  Yes, I know what a suite is, thank you.  😉

A JS on Grandeur was 200.00 for the two of us on a nine night cruise.

These were booked on board Oasis the last couple of months.

Still don't understand the 900.00 deposit OP mentioned.  Perhaps OP has more than two people in their cabin?

If you book on line it is a $900 deposit. That is for a 12 or 15 night cruise in an inside cabin. That is why I would like to book on board. Only 2 people.
