  1. Thats great. My late husband and I never cruised but did plenty of road trips with the kids. Only started cruising when I married Frank (who had never cruised either), but we saw the dawn princess in Hobart when visiting there 2009 and "I'm taking my wife on a cruise" became Frank's catch cry! And we were hooked!
  2. I can only dream lol. Who knows if we’d have started earlier lol. my off topic diversion is I never went anywhere cos I was terrified to fly ( I did it rarely out of necessity not holidays). However I’ve been to South Africa 14 times in 11 years (not for the past two of course!) plus Malaysia, Indonesia twice, NZ apart from cruising 3 times - and finally went back to England 3 years ago (after 47 years)! Most of the above was accompanying my new husband on preaching trips not holidays I might add lol. Cruising started when we married and is THE BEST mot relaxing holiday we could have ever imagined.
  3. I know I’ve been to one once ! I think the most traveled had done something like 1300 cruise days !
  4. That is true, same here. Click ticked over 11.59pm on night before hubbys bday. We will check out fir future travel using cc fir me and buying one for him, however our westpac cc insurance is currently not operating re covid
  5. Probably right. I was only counting actual official formal night, not the other events.
  6. Very true. Adage has always been “if you can’t afford travel insurance you can’t afford to travel”. First glance it’s true it’s not cheap. From memory I think you (austraveller) is in upper age? I’ve done quick quote and fully comp would be $200 fully comp with cruise cover. Interesting our cover for the four B2B is $382 for us both with one of us being 83! So we felt that was reasonable
  7. There’s hadn’t ever been one on very short cruises in my experience. 7 nighters have only had one in my experience, so two on this is maybe a concession to celebrate cruising return?
  8. Out travel summaries for each of our 4 x B2B's starting 16 June is NO formal nights on the 3 and 4 day cruises, but TWO on the 7 night one from 26 June - 3rd July
  9. What? Is it new info??? Have two current policies taken not long ago????
  10. Where are you cruising? Age and health issue affect prices. Also lots don’t offer covid cover. We’ve gone with 1Cover for our domestic cruises (though all cruises need international cover cos on ship there’s no Medicare cover) which came up best for us. covermore has now added covid cover.
  11. Of course not in the literal sense hahahha maybe a rewording would help heheheh
  12. That is the one benefit that we would take carry ons for! Love walk on walk off.
  13. However, aside from the official carry on, you are allowed a handbag, back pack etc so with careful packing that will take some of the essentials???
  14. I love the first rule hahahah We have another fav rule in our house that is nothing to do with cruising but hey we derail threads on this group dont we hahahah. Our rue! The last one out of bed makes it!!!! J havent made the bed for years hahahahaha No wonder hubby likes cruising so much!
  15. Definitely doable. Layers as suggested. But I think warm clothes are less needed being brissy to cairns do we’ll be taking a jacket that will go with anything. There is at least one formal on the 7 days cruise but no need to go if you don’t wNt to include in packing.
  16. It will be on my list to find out 16 June lol
  17. My understanding is it will be available, but prices and amounts of coffee vary by length of the journey, and it will then show up on your medallion. And PvP says you’re only allowed to buy one (coffee) package (I asked if I could buy two for myself on a longer cruise). I guess it will show eventually. We don’t drink alcohol so didn’t buy plus package either.
  18. I’m going to pay special attention to it this time! In the name of research 😇
  19. Good idea. Of course we are racing down to dinner cos we’ve not eaten for at least an hour 😂😂😂😂
  20. We prefer lower temps for sleeping. We found the mdr usually quite cool and sometimes the princess theatre so make sure we take a jacket or wrap etc
