  1. Ok, quick question.

I pre-paid my gratuities for my upcoming October Cruise on the Dawn back before the cost went up. When I go to the NCL website it does list that I have Pre-Paid these, but when I print out my Vacation Summary or my Cruise Documents I do not see it listed as paid anywhere.

I had a problem with this on my last cruise (Not NCL) where I had instructed my TA to pay these and then when we got on the ship discovered it hadn't been done. This time I pre-paid them directly thru the NCL website.

Is there anyplace on my documents where I should see that this had been paid or should I contact NCL to check/confirm?

    Thanks for any input!

  2. We have always traveled with my husbands CPAP. I actually bring 2 cords, One is a straight normal 6-8 ft cord and then I actually get a split one, its like a Y and goes in two directions. The main one goes from outlet to under the bed, then the Y-splits under the bed so we both get a plug on either side. Works really well.

  3. Thanks for all of the quick replies! I had just read a review where a womans older son (20's) wore shorts to the MDR and they turned him around and sent him back to change. Wouldn't let him in so was just being careful.

    Thanks again for the confirmation!

  4. Ok, have read similar threads with many conflicting answers so I thought I would try again. I understand no shorts in the MDR's, but if my husband is wearing nice clean jeans and a collared shirt, will he be ok or do I have to go out and buy khaki's or something?

  5. Has anyone done the Jet-Ski tour with Somerset Watersports while in Bermuda? I was looking into it for something for my DH and myself to do while there this coming October. We love cruising but are not particularly beach people to just go an hang out for the day. We do love the water though and since we ride Jet-ski's at home I thought this would be fun. Saw that they offer a tour at the Snorkle Beach location but Somerset seemed to get better reviews. Any experiences?:)

  6. Really appreciate the Heads Up!..The Spa Passes are the only thing left to make our cruise complete and had planned to head directly to the Spa once we were on board. Just put a reminder on my calendar at the 90 day mark to start checking NCL.com for availability.

  7. I found a great extension cord that actually split into two. Ran it under the bed, then I had one side for my DH's C-pap and one next to my side of the bed. Haven't had any trouble with either CCL or Disney on previous cruises and don't forsee a problem with NCL. I do put it in the C-pap case just to play it safe though.....

  8. My DS was 12 on our last cruise and we allowed him quite a bit of freedom. He had a curfew (which he never missed) that was 30min after the last teen club activity. He had to check in with us at certain times and leave messages on the board we put up on our door. At times we would "spot check" to see if he was where he said he was going to be and he always was.

I have to say I really enjoyed running into him on the ship with his particular group of friends having fun. It was his vacation as much as mine and though we did spend plenty of family time together, it was nice to have some "mom and dad" time too. Being on a ship gave me a closed environment to allow him more freedom than I probably would have given him had we done something like Disney.

That said, each kid is ready for freedom at different ages and parent's know what is best for their particular child.

  9. I haven't been able to find an answer to this question in my searches. Hope someone can answer for me. I see from my reading that the automatic gratuity on beverages ordered thru the UBP program is now 18%. Is the gratuity included in the plan, or is just the gratuity billed to my cruise account and the cost of the drink covered? Don't want to seem cheap, but just trying to plan ahead.

    Thanks and Happy Cruising!

  10. Thanks so much! This may help a bit to try and convince them. The smaller "bedroom" on the two bedroom suites looks like it would be a bit tight for myself and DH...we are not small people. This looks like it might work better.

  11. Was just wondering if anyone with experience with the Family Suite's on NCL (Dawn Specifically) knew if there was any type of sliding/closing partition that could separate, even partially, the space between the bed and the sofa bed/rest of the room? Was considering trying to book one of these to travel with my parents, DH and DS, but not sure how the folks would feel about one large room for everyone. In looking at the floorplan, it looks like there might be something right next to the bed. Even a sliding half-wall would make a difference.

    Thanks!

  12. Thanks for the forms formats! Although my DS is not cruising with my parents, he will be traveling soon with his grandfather and I have been looking for forms to have notarized for this purpose. These have been a great help. He is a great traveler and loves cruising. I hope to convince his grandparents to try it with us soon!

  13. We had the same issue on Carnival last year with the NHL Finals. Only some games were shown at all due to channel coverage. Very frustruating and when a game was on, was very packed. Bartender actually gave my son a hard time for sitting on a stool because he had a broken ankle. Felt it was taking the place of a drinker and told him he should stand. I told him I'm drinking and standing behind him,, count the chair as me! Couldn't stand for 2-3 hrs on a broken ankle and there were other kids sitting down as well.......

  14. I hate ironing at home... use the "steam" method quite often. Will prob just bite the bullet and start with the steam and then go and Iron the pants and shirts. I wake up early no matter what so I will try to get it done before I go play.

  15. It a basic question, but can't find a thread. I know that you can have clothes pressed for a nominal fee, or there are also ironing boards/Irons available for public use. I just don't want to have to deal with an Iron my first day on Vacation.

Has anyone used the laundry services for pressing only on Carnival? If I sent the clothes to be pressed on Embarkation day, would I have them back in time for Formal night? I would just like to have my husbands and sons pants, Husbands Jacket and my dress.

    Any thoughts/opinions are appreciated.:)

  16. Love the reports! Keep em coming. My family and I are on the 4/18 sailing of the Splendor and you are just getting me happier and happier. Can't wait. I agree with you about the Ron Jon Resort. I have family in the Port Canaveral area so usually we sail out of there and visit a few days. Stayed there on our last visit and would go back in a heartbeat. Really nice place to stay a few days.

Keep the updates coming and have a fantastic trip.

  17. We have the C-Pap issue for my husband so I know where you're coming from. I remember the HUGE machine we used to have to travel with when we were first married. So compact now. We have brought extension cords for this purpose on board after our first cruise... had real trouble getting one from Steward when we didn't realize there was only 1 outlet on the other side of the room from the bed. Make sure you bring it in your carry on, it just makes it easier. I usually pack it with the machine in case they question it but have had no issues. Make sure its at least 6 ft if not longer.. better to have extra length than to have it stretched. Duct tape is also handy to tape it down to the floor since it usually has to cross the room and go under the bed. YOu don't want to be tripping on it.
