I only take two pairs of shoes. One for dress and one for everything else. Kind of hard to not keep that number of shoes organized. Saves space in the luggage by not carrying an organizer.

We never put our ship luggage tags on until we are actually heading to the ship. Since we always fly in the day prior to the ship sailing we wait. There is no guaranty that they will survive the airline baggage handling. We use a type of plastic tag sleeves which we purchased on Amazon. The Princess luggage tags slide in and we can put them on prior to transferring to the ship.

I have a coffee card with punches left on it, but it has been marked with my last cruise. Can I still use it on my next cruise? Thanks

Yes you can. However it will be punched for both specialty coffees and brewed coffee. I have some that I'm still using. If you are luck the staff working at the IC coffee bar will get to know you and they will sometimes not punch for the brewed coffee.:rolleyes: I drink mostly brewed coffee and when I pull out the card they will just refill my coffee cup.

Use it. I have always used a double edge blade razor. There may be a rule against a straight razor but that is all.

I have eaten the meatloaf and it was good. I'm not sure that I will like the changes in the MDR due to Curtis Stone menu changes. But that will not stop me from sailing Princess and enjoying my MDR meals.

There is no reason to pay for any drinks in the bars, Explorer Lounge or any other venue with music or other activities. You have paid for this entertainment. If you do not want a drink then tell them. I normally have my coffee and my DW normally just ask for a glass of water. If you do not want anything they will place a napkin to let other wait staff that you have been taken care of. Just enjoy the music or entertainment. :)

We were on the Caribbean Princess the week after Thanksgiving and although the always available menu was the Curtis Stone items you could still get the fettucine alfredo. I had it as an appetizer at least three times.

We have taken two cruisetours and you cabin selection on the ship portion has nothing to do with the land portion. Princess assigns the room for each Wilderness Lodge you stay in. The rooms in the lodges are all the same. The lodges are very nice.

Yes. Had it on our cruise a couple weeks ago on the Caribbean Princess. There was the stone items in place of the normal always available menu. Was not impressed.

Why would you want to carry cases of water on board when the water on board is excellent. The water systems on these ships are as good or better than those of the commercial water companies. They have to be to pass all of the environment/effluent regulation imposed by the federal government and individual states.

I would suggest that you just take reusable water bottle with you (almost everybody has one at home) and keep it full. I keep one packed in my suitcase so it is always packed prior to leaving on a cruise. You can take it to any bar or the buffet and get cold water and ice. This will reduce the amount of baggage/carry-on that you have to deal with.

The DW and I have been on the Royal twice and we have enjoyed the ship both times. We would not hesitate to sail her again.

I usually get up early too, and my wife sleeps in late. So I tend to grab my Kindle and my coffee card and head out around 5 or 6 a.m.

 

If you're getting a coffee card, then heading to the International Cafe's next door coffee bar is a good move. I also like to try the buffet's coffee a day or two and see how it's working for me. Sometimes it's OK.

 

I don't know how long your cruise is, and that might make a difference. With a week or more, there's time to experiment. Try a fancy IC coffee (or the unlimited fresh brewed that comes with the card) one day, room service (probably 15-20 minutes that time of morning) another and the Horizon Court self-serve the next. See what works for you.

 

For me, part of it is where to park my butt with a book. In the end, I usually get some kind of vanilla bean espresso at the IC-connected coffee bar, then go looking for a comfortable chair or loveseat in the Wheelhouse Bar or Explorer's Lounge.

We like to spend our time around the coffee bar during the day when not going to some other activity. We normally will be in the Atrium with my coffee and kindle, wife with tea and her kindle. It is relaxing to read, watch people and enjoy the different entertainment going on deck 5.

If my DW and I had to make the choice, we would sail the Coral. We like both the Coral and Star but the size of the Coral ( about 2000 passengers ) is what we really like. We have sailed her and sister ship Island and would always pick one of these if the itinerary is what we are looking at.

We always book just aft or forward of amidships on Aloha or Baha decks. We find that on all but the Royal class ship these balconies are covered. Princess ships tend to have a stair step configuration on the sides and the farther down you are the less balcony coverage you have.

On the new Royal class ships all balconies are covered due to the configuration of the ship sides.:)

Sailing Star Princess next week. I have cruised with Carnival, NCL and Disney. What info/tips/advice can you share that will help a first time Princess cruiser. Anything done differently on Princess compared to lines I've sailed? Thanks in advance for the help!

The answers already given are good. My only input is to just enjoy the cruise. Relax and go with the flow.:)

What difference does it make? Most Princess cruises sail full. Pretty sure your cruise will be sold out within the next 10 days. Are you asking this because of a possible upsell?

It don't make any difference. So let's not get all wound up with a simple question.:rolleyes: We live 20 minutes from the ship terminal and enjoy watching the ships come and go. Normally the parking lot is full for any given cruise but this time it is pretty much empty.

And as for as wanting an better price, our cruise is paid and we never worry about getting a better price. We sail regardless of the sales going on and we only sail Princess.:)
