We are on ship. Seems like heating cooling is not working well. Some areas of ship are very warm. Smell of exhaust in center stairwell in between calypso and Neptune. No word since 3:30 from captain. It is 10:20 now. Business as usual. Edward in palm restaurant and lester are great!
That does not sound good. Hopefully they get it all worked out.

Someone posted in the roll call that she's delayed for four hours due to technical difficulties :o

We had a very attentive and entertaining waiter in Sabatini on Grand last month so we tipped him $20. He seemed very appreciative.

We've always asked for wine glasses in the MDR. Never had a problem; they're always so nice. They also give us one of those fancy insulated wine buckets full of ice if we ask - those things keep ice very well :)

Also disappointed. It's actually still on the coffee table but it won't be there for long. The '50 Years At Sea' part was cool, but that was about it.
So, 2004 was the year they began assaulting us with MUTS :p

Yikes...sounds serious. Hope is is okay.

Sorry to hear OP :(
Here's another thread about Grand from last month: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2026273

If the new cruise terminal is open by then, you'll be at Pier 27. If not, you'll be at Pier 35.

With a big grin, I can see it now! LOL"PULL!!!!"
Glad to see that at least three of us got that :D

Children on scooters around the open decks onboard? Not a fast a clays, but still good sport.;)
LOL!!! :D
I wonder how many people "get" it.

We were in C743 from 4/13 - 4/28 and thought our bed was great! Our previous bed on Star, in C723, was not nearly as good.
-
"Did you fill up the tank?"
"No. I thought you said you were going to do that!"
:p

There she goes!
That was quite the storm they had today.

Our favorite activity it not participating in any activities. We love to kiss each other as we get dressed for fancy dinners. :)
We just search out the hottest hot tub and go there.

Thanks for the heads up!

In addition to MUTS, they do show afternoon movies in the main theater. Not sure if there's a way to find out what they'll be showing in advance. Hopefully someone else can answer that.

Oooh, a double upgrade. That's awesome :D

We don't use room service often, but if we do it is usually a full dinner for the two of us. That usually ends up being three trays. We tip $5 for that. If we end up ordering something small, we tip $2-3. They're always quite appreciative.

Search "BVE" or "Bon Voyage Experience". It's awesome! You pay $39 pp but get to board before anyone else. You can take a tour or decline, take a lunch in the MDR or decline. Or you can just hang out and do whatever you want until about an hour before the ship sails. Our BVE guests have LOVED doing this!

We've been on both Star and Grand within the past year and a half. If we had the choice, we'd probably also choose Star for the reasons mentioned above. Then again, we'd sail on Grand again in a heartbeat.

When should a person switch their cell phone to airplane mode? If you are in port will it go through normal land based cell towers or dose it go through the ships communication system?
It depends. Where are you cruising?

Thanks for all the quick replys.
To drink the taped water is not a opinion for us.
Europeans are not used to the taste of chlorine, wich is used to clean the water on ships and in the US.
Why do I get a cup when i buy the package? Do they refill only that cup, like they do it on CARNIVAL Ships, or can i order a Coke at any bar and get one in a glass?
I do not really understand the system compared to other "Luxury" Cruiselines like X!
You can use that cup OR show your card with the sticker on it. You do not have to carry that cup around all the time.

We think it is better. And it is purer than most bottled water, as they use osmosis on the ship to create it with no minerals added.
Same here. We always bring two 1-quart Nalgene water bottles with us. Fill them up from the sink, pop them in the fridge, all is well. I can only assume they make ice from the same RO water because it tastes just the same when it melts.
