  1. I actually just booked our outbound flight today. We were eyeing an Asiana flight with a wonderful itinerary, but with my luck the award availability disappeared 2 days before I was able to book the flight. So today I booked a flight from Chicago --> London --> Bangkok --> Hanoi on United/Thai Airways.

United happens to be having an award travel sale this month, so instead of the normal 160,000 miles for this flight, it was 140,000.

I'll be booking our return trip in a few weeks after I earn my last credit card/mileage bonus. But sadly, that flight will be in economy. After 20 hours in business class and 2.5 weeks with Uniworld, that will be a downer. But it's better than paying for the flight!

What???? An award sale?.. I've been watching and checking 5x a day for a flight in September and one way fares are running 150,000 miles in business class. Route is houston to prague which has a few options but return is Basel to houston which has nothing...

  2. We have booked this and are so excited...my question is has anyone booked their own travel to arrive in Ushuaia independently? I know the flight from buenos aires to Ushuaia is included in trip fare but I really have no interest in spending a day/night in buenos aires so would rather arrive directly into Ushuaia Thanks

  3. I like that idea. The cruise terminal looks like it's a short cab ride from the museum, and it'll give me a chance to unload my last kroner.

I think we'll have breakfast at the hotel and go directly there. We should get there pretty early, jet lag permitting.

Definitely worth the visit...the vasa is amazing. Enjoy

  4. We did the Baltic cruise 2 summers ago ...used a regular Credit card in restaurants and souvenir shops. Also used euros in all the countries for entrance fees to castles , museums etc and euros in the bigger souvenir shops...also bought a few things in a dept store in Denmark an d used regular credit card...not once anywhere were we asked for a chip/pin

  5. We are scheduled to take cruise oct 1 on Mariner and today I started reading the excursions offered...what is the difference between regent choice and non regent choice besides $$$$.??? The excursions I want are all labeled regent choice meaning extra dollars which defeats the purpose of taking a cruise labeled all- inclusive free excursions....kind of not fair and misleading

  6. We stayed at hotel papodopoli. Very convenient ...took express bus from airport for 5? Euros and walked 2 minutes from bus stop and bingo there is hotel. Charming hotel overlooking canal. Nice restaurants nearby. Good included buffet breakfast...30 minute walk to San Marco but it was a lovely walk

  7. We are traveling from IAH to FCO in October and started looking for reward seats on united....we are usually able to get seats to Europe for 50000 miles each way in business class. Only seats available are 125000 per person each way...crazy...one seat popped up on US airways business class for 50000 miles and I still can use my united miles...spoke with us airways and rep said another ticket might become available just keep checking...I grabbed the one ticket so now just hoping for another one...living dangerously😜😜😜😜

  8. We have stayed at hotel papodopoli ...loved it...very easy to get to...bus from airport and one small bridge to cross at bus stop...room was clean and nice...breakfast was lovely...wonderful little restaurant right across bridge at front door and to the right....about 20 minute walk to st marks but a lovely walk...would definitely stay again

  9. TC when you looked at the penthouse suite on Oceania was the bed truly a queen size only? On Oceania web page the cabin is described with a queen bed... We are considering an Oceania cruise but we are really not comfortable in a queen....while most people would consider that trivial it is important to us for then we do get a good night sleep...thanks

  10. I actually went to my bank Friday and ordered DKK, SEK, Euros, and Rubles because I like have that business taken care of already. I exchanged just enough for waters, postcards, and stamps...everything else I might need will use credit cards...but all of my friends are asking for postcards with stamps from the different countries and from past experiences the foreign post offices insist on their currency...only 3 more weeks!!!!!

  11. Thanks so much for taking the time to post...we are doing the 10 day Baltic cruise July 2012 and really excited about it..You were most helpful with your reviews...we are already booked on a small 10 person 2 day tour of st Pete...we have family meeting us in the German ports...we are very much like you in the fact that we enjoy quiet evenings in our room with a good book...go to bed early get up early have long days walking exploring the different ports...I think the only other excursions we need is the shuttle to stockolm and every where else we are quite comfortable roaming by ourselves. Thanks again for the reviews
