  1. No offense, but after living in Bavaria for four years, beers like Budweiser taste like weak lemonade. Have you ever tried Sam Adams, it is a very good American beer, if you want American.

Going from Bud to Sams is a huge leap. Sam's Summer may be a better first move. Love that stuff,

  2. He said the beverage credit will show on the Celebrity Website within 10 days, but the onboard credit will not. When does an onboard credit generally appear on your account? Is it once on the ship? If I call Celebrity directly will they be able to tell me it is there? Sorry for all the questions, thanks guys.

  3. Delicately answering your question, yes, there are TAs that offer lower fares and/or additional OBCs because they buy a block of cabins and X gives them price break which the TA passes along to you (some not all, most likely).

In my experience, if you are skeptical, you are probably right to be. There are plenty of reputable TAs that do business like this. I'm sure you will find a good one.

He did say he had a group on this sailing, so maybe that is it. I will try google again. Thanks.

  4. I know we are not allowed to discuss TAs here, but am I allowed to ask if there are any websites where I can seek out agency reviews. I have a quote that is a bit lower than what others are offering and I am skeptical . I did a goggle search for the name and I did confirm there is company of that name that has been in business a few years, but that's it. Could it just be that this company gives some commission dollars back to get you to book?

  5. Didn't realize that OP was from the UK. ;)

No, currently it is 2 perks for most sailings. No upgrade fee.

I just did a faux booking for a cruise leaving in October. Did not upgrade anything. This is what is on the reservation.

The two perks you chose are:

Classic Beverage Packages for two and $150 per person to spend onboard

I am quoting a cruise for June 2017 to Alaska on the Infinity. It costs 105 per person extra to get the second perk.

  6. OP, you should be able to get 2 perks if the new cruise is to sail by the end of April 2017. You can also book it with an online TA, this week, and get all 3 perks.

I suspect that you plan to move your cruise further out than the April 2017 date and why there are no perks offered??? If I am not correct, look into this further. Unless you have final payment coming up soon, no need to change anything yet. Wait and see what happens. ;)

No, you were reading it wrong. The BBB is not going away, at least I don't think so, but who really knows until something comes out from Celebrity.

What they are eliminating on May 1st, is the "get two perks" instead of just the one to be included with your booking. Currently (and ending this week) they have a special going on where you get two perks on some cruises. After May 1st, there will be only one perk offered per booking.

But I think if you want the second perk you have to upgrade to the GoBetter for 105/person. Now if you choose the 150 onboard credit per person you make out OK by paying this upgrade.

  7. Does anyone know how long this promotion has been going on for? Do these kinds of things usually last awhile? Or should be we book for next summer now?

We've never done Celebrity before. If something better comes along can we switch over to that? Or only if we book directly with Celebrity?

  8. I am looking at this are cruise for next June 2017. For two people is an outside cabin, it is about 3000 with taxes and fees/. There is a special going now with the classic drinks package thrown in. Would now be the time to book so far in advance? Or in your experience, is the price lower in the fall or the spring previous to sailing?

  9. Booking our first ever Alaska cruise (and first ever Celebrity) for June 2017. We are trying to decide between the Solstice out of Seattle or the Infinity out of Vancouver. Airfare will be the same.

The Solstice looks much nicer, but with a higher price tag.

Also wondering about the current promotion of getting your drinks/onboard credit included. How long do these promotions usually last for? The difference in cabin price for the classic vs premium seems drastic. Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

  10. no, say no, no to people bringing their own chairs onboard...I can't imagine a more crowded pool deck full of people's own lawn chairs and umbrellas!! seriously, come on...do you take your own napkin when you eat at a restaurant too?? I have seen blow up pools onboard and I thought that was ridiculous..there has to be a limit, we are on vacation, not in someone's backyard

I think they are for using off the boat. If you want to carry your own on, why shouldn't you? Sounds like a great idea.

  11. Go into the mian show lounge on the lowest level (It is multiple decks).

Walk right up to the stage, turn right go all the way over, turn left and OUT the door to the very front of the ship!

There has never been ANYBODY out there when we have used the "Secret door".

Wow, must try this in May.
