  1. We've always found the food to be "pretty good" Not fantastic, but not bad. Presentation is usually really nice. Lets put it this way. Have you ever had someone build up a movie to you to the point you see it and think "I didn't think it was THAT great." I would not get your expectations up and you may be presently surprised by how good the food is. ;-)

  2. My dumbass just upgraded from a minisuite to a full suite. The difference in price was $1800 per person.(For my DW and I) I guess I should have just waited for the bid email and bid $500-$1000 more per person which probably would have been enough and saved some money. Oh well at least I know I am guaranteed in a suite for sure, which is what I wanted for my 50th birthday cruise. ;-)

  3. Don't worry, they will offer excursions in

Mazatlan. They will add them as time goes on. Our reservations for our December cruise just went from 51 excursions avalible to 62 options and I'm sure they will add more because our stop in Grand cayman is still only showing two choices.

    Thank you.

  4. So, when I go to the "explore and plan" section of NCL for my cruise, there are no excursions listed for Mazatlan. In comparison, for Puerto Vallarta there are 28 to choose from. Now, I know you can book outside of NCL but my question is, is there none you can book through NCL or will that change the closer I get to my cruise date. We are currently 191 days out.

    Thanks.

  5. So, we will be on the Star in March 2018. We have done several cruises on NCL and never have been to the White Hot Party. I want to go this time(especially since we don't have the kids on this cruise) My wife said it's for the "20 something" crowd and refuses to go. We are in our mid to late 40s. Can anyone confirm the average age of the crowd? Thanks.

  6. So, I currently have a 9 day cruise booked for March 2018 and we are staying in a mini-suite with balcony. We got the room for $1449 per person. Right now, they are listed at $1999 per person, so I feel like we got a good deal.

Here's my question/dilemma, we want to upgrade to a suite. Right now, the Penthouse with Balcony is $3299 per person. I called and there are 4 left. Do I book now? Should I wait and see if the price goes down? Is that a good price? Is there being 4 cabins left considered a lot or not that much for a cruise that is still 6 months away.

Any and ALL opinions on the subject would really help me out. One other question. If I do book now, do they still do it, where if the price goes down, they will refund you the amount of the difference or book you at the new lower price. I think I did that once YEARS ago. Thanks again for any input.

  7. On my second ever cruise, I was upgraded for free to a balcony cabin. From there, I felt like I could never go back to a mere inside or oceanview. Now, I have 4 more cruises booked, all inside cabins. For me, I would rather be able to cruise more often in a lower category cabin...

I guess it all depends on your situation. We have a 5 year old and a 10 year old, so having a balcony is a MUST, just to "get away" although only a few feet. With 4 people, the 2 bedroom suite was AWESOME also with the space and extra room. OH, and Cagney's for breakfast was also an awesome perk.

  8. Without a question I'd cruise more often in a balcony.

I enjoyed our one go in a suite, but it didn't even come close to being worth the extra money for us. I've had six cruises since the suite, all in balconies and minis and not once have I even given the suites a thought whilst onboard.

I'd probably pay up to an extra £500 for a suite for a week, but the actual premium is many times that.

Honestly, I know what you mean. I mean the extra space, GREAT smelling shampoos, conditioners and body wash AND the afternoon snacks were nice, but we didn't really get much more out of it than those things. So, I am with you.

  9. First off, it is GREAT to be back on the boards again. Haven't been on since my last cruise in Nov of 2014(Man, has it really been that long?) So, just booked another cruise yesterday (7 day Mexican Riviera) I now have that warm fuzzy feeling inside that I haven't had in a while.(You all know what I mean after you book a cruise)

Our last cruise we booked a suite(just to see what it's all about....It was AWESOME) Because of finances, we had to book a balcony this time.(But, I am still looking at surprising the family and upgrading to a suite, IF the price can come down a bit)

So this got me thinking and I'll ask my question and to answer I really think you need to have stayed in a suite to answer(but I'll take anyone's comments ;) .......

Would you rather cruise EVERY year if your finances permitted, but you can only stay in a balcony or skip every other year and stay in a suite?
