We decided since our daughter got married 10 days before our 30th Anniversary last May that we would renew our wedding Vows on our 31st Anniversary on 5/27.This is what I chose to wear....the straps are filled with pearls...I know it's hard to see.

  3. I met my hubby 33 years ago...3 weeks before Valentines Day...he gave me a 14kt gold chain I gave him a Billy Squire cassette tape...come on I only knew him 3 weeks!

He has teased me all these years...I finally got tired of it and this year I ordered the same Billy Squire CD on Amazon....I made a new back cover with all the songs and wrote funny snip-its to all the songs. The last song was "Don't say No" I wrote this....

#10 Don't say No....to The Cruise I booked on the Navigator of the Seas 9/6/15

    He was quite SURPRISED!!

I love the last minute idea...go for it! He's a guy...as women we would freak out...my hubby could do it in 4 days!

  4. I have to ask.....we have a cruise booked for Sept. We are in a D1 Balcony. We did not use our C&A discount since our TA said we could not if we wanted the $200 OBC...we took that instead.

We have 140,000 points...what is the best way to use them? OBC? I have never cashed any of points in so I am clueless.

Thanks for any help you can give!!

  5. It is located in the Viking crown (next to Cosmopolitan lounge). It is nicer and bigger than the CL.

By the way, when we were aboard recently, the DL (and CL, too) were very busy. Many nights it was hard to find a seat at the busiest times (4:30-5:30, before main dining time). So we often used our vouchers at other bars; worked fine for us and always good service:). Or sometimes we'd go to the DL, get a drink and maybe a snack plate. If there was no place to sit, we'd carry it out to Cosmo bar (also a great view); nobody ever gave us a bad time about it, as the lounge was so full. So, if the appetizers in the DL appeal to you, you might well find that you can take a plate out to Cosmo to join your friends. Or you can save your appetite for dinner (probably smarter, anyway).

That's where they had it on the Mariner, so I know exactly were it is! PERFECT!!

Can you use the drink vouchers and go into the Lounge? Just thinking if it's busy and then we try and go back in later.

  6. May I ask what area your cabin was in? Sounds a lot like my cabin steward, however I don't want to name names. He was the biggest issue on our cruise, however I would not hold it against Princess.

I also thought food was not that great, but on all the cruise lines I've had so far, I don't think any of the food is better than what I could prepare at home.

We were on the Aloha Deck.

  7. While I understand first impressions.... I am curious why those of you that said this was your first and last trip on Princess. It sounds as if the weather was the main factor with this sailing and I don't think this should be held against a cruise line; especially one with such high standards.

So my question for you becomes this: If you take away all factors of the weather what made you not enjoy your cruise?

Great question......for us the weather had NOTHING to do with our opinion of Princess Cruises. We found both our waiter and room steward were very difficult to work with. When I asked our room steward to please fill the extra inflatable ice bucket when he fills the other one he said no problem. Then he left me a note in the ice bucket saying "this is unhealthy for you to have ice in it, call housekeeping and they will bring you a bigger ice bucket" When I did call housekeeping they left a large plastic pitcher in my room with ice that of course melted into water in no time. My inflatable ice bucket was purchased on Amazon for the purpose of traveling....there is nothing unhealthy about it! I also asked if we could get one of those egg crate bed pads...he immediately said "No they are all gone", yet we watched a number of other room stewards on our deck carrying them into rooms. When we left the ship yesterday morning we walked out of our cabin at 6:30...the RS was standing right there and never said a word to us....let me just say I really wanted to go back in the cabin and grab the extra tip I left for him on the desk. I did not...knowing he did make the bed and change out the towels all week for us!

We have cruised on 12 Royal Caribbean ships...we find they have much more room from the smallest ships to the largest. We love that they have "grand" atrium's and not just a small area with a piano. We also love that RC has a walking track on most of their ships...we were disappointed to see the only place to walk around the deck on the ship outside was on a deck that you had to go upstairs and then come back down to complete the loop...that was difficult when it was wet and cold out. The gym was smaller then we were used too and always filled.

These of course are all of our own opinions. So for now we will stick with Royal Caribbean.

We did enjoy all the extra time we had to relax....that's what we went on the cruise for...and we had plenty of it.

We enjoyed Crooner and Vines...we visited those bars a tad more then we should have...LOL

Sabatini's was hands down the BEST service we received on the ship.....I handed in 2 cards letting them know who our great waiter was and that the head waiter was exceptional too. I also wrote that in the survey I filled out last night that they emailed us.

I feel that each cruise is what YOU make it. This was NOT a bad cruise by any means...we had a great time we just prefer Royal Caribbean ships.

  8. I was wondering about that, since we were supposed to be the first ship into Belize and I could see from my balcony that the other three ships were anchored outside of Belize. The whole trip was just disappointing. I can honestly say that in my cruise experience (40 +) this is the worst that I've had. Granted, the weather had a great deal to do with it, but I feel that they could have handled the situation a bit better. I also didn't really care for the ship (too closed in) and they definitely did not have enough for the 800 children on board to do. My first and last Princess cruise, I'm afraid. I just wasn't impressed.

My husband and I totally agree with you! First & Last Princess Cruise. We stopped eating in the Palm Dining Room since we felt we had the worst waiter on the ship!

When we ate in Sabatini's the head waiter was talking with us and said they were all surprised how well most of "The Texans" were taking the changes....he said they mentioned at the morning meeting that there was no way a NY group would be so friendly about all the changes...I never told him I am originally from NJ...just let him think I am a friendly Texan...which I am now! LOL

We went on this cruise to just relax and it's exactly what we did...we have never watched so many movies in a week!

This was the first cruise we carried our own luggage off and we were in the first group off the ship...we were in our car pulling out of the parking lot at 7:11...doesn't get any better then that!

  9. olemissgal100: The leather shorts, flowy blouse and heels sounds like a fabulous outfit and I know dressy shorts are in style...I would say, pack it, plan to wear it...and see what others are wearing on Casual Nights. No doubt, you will look good, and if you feel confident - wear it and be proud:cool::).

My packing is 98% done - only a few more misc items to go. I'm doing a double check of my spreadsheet and packing list today. Don't want to forget anything:eek:. Only 11 more days to go!!

QUESTION: Has anyone ever had lost luggage on a cruise? I've heard that the cruise line gives some clothing, but what about under garments, shoes, etc.????

UHOH...we are going on our cruise THIS Saturday and neither of us have even started to pack!

Tomorrow morning I will do laundry and THEN the packing will begin. We drive to the Houston Port so weight does not matter for us....Thank Goodness!
