  1. Why wouldn’t those concerns also apply to younger people with chronic conditions.

I have several friends that have more serious conditions then I do...they are more at risk ,but would not be required to have a note....if everyone had to show fit to cruise I would be fine....i believe if you trace the age of many passengers that got coved on the cruises, many would be in their 50’s and 60’s

  2. Apparently that is not the case.  We booked with FCC from a cancelled cruise....before the fit to cruise form was put in place....we can cancel for more FCC which may not help us.   We have cruised for 10 years with our existing controlled
conditions...with no problems.....but Celebrity told me today , that slight high blood pressure  and type 2 pre diabetes will keep us from boarding.

  3. As I posted before my doctor will not sign because of the wording.....I just got off the phone with a Celebrity Resolution Specialist....she told me the form will be in use at least until the end of the year. As I have a scheduled cruise in November I asked what my options would be, because I will not be allowed to board... the only option will be FCC.....if the fit to travel note is still in effect 2021.....I will never be able to cruise...so they get to keep 8,000 of my money.......i guess I will find another doctor...lol

  4. In talking to my doctor, he stated he could not sign a note.  He works under our major hospital group, and is prohibited from giving patients notes with that broad of permission.  He also reminded me that  the term “chronic” means ongoing or reoccurring conditions....even through I have controlled conditions (with meds) they are still considered chronic.   The cruise lines need to make their policy very clear......

  5. I agree.  We have cruised for 50 plus years.....at 70, our cruising days may be over.  Our doctors are not likely to give us a permission to cruise note....we both have many of the health problems most older Americans have......if a doctor gives you a note , would that mean he or she is then liable if something happens?

  6. I am reading all the threads about how the cruise industry will never be the same...we are the ones to keep it going....I have been cruising for 40+ years....the industry has been through a lot.  We need to use our fcc and book our cruises now to show our support for the industry...now more then ever the industry needs the support of cruisers.  None of this was their fault....maybe they handled it wrong but the industry has never had a situation like this....we have used our credit..rebooked and planning to renew our love of cruising.

  7. Something I always do is take a spray bottle and a bleach tablet...(available at Walmart)....when I enter my cabin I dilute the bleach and spray down the bathroom , deck , and table surfaces....I do this several times during the cruise.....I leave the bottle when I disembark.....still use sanitizer and wipes.....makes me feel better...don’t know if it really works....we leave on the Edge Sunday....not really worried.

  8. Insurance is a good idea....but is doesn’t always cover what we expect.   Celebrity needs to understand today’s situation and give unsettled cruisers a reasonable option.   Who wants to cruise if you are concerned or worried about the current situation.  No cruise line can guarantee our safety.  I don’t think anyone of us can say we haven’t been in contact with someone that may carry the virus ( with the current information we have).  Giving people options is know as creating good will....

  9. Maybe it is time for Celebrity to rethink their policies....so many regular cruise are concerned about their up and coming cruises.....no one should be held hostage because of the threat of a financial loss. If you are concerned , you won’t enjoy your cruise.  Letting cruisers reschedule cruises will create more good will for celebrity.....forcing cruisers to go may create an exodus of regular cruisers to other lines.
We leave next Sunday.....if given an out, I probably  would cancel and rebook. I am not concerned about the virus but about the reaction...(ports,etc.).  Being a seasoned cruiser I can accept this situation....I cannot imagine what a new cruiser is feeling..ships turned away from ports, etc.

  10. I already have packed all types of meds....we do not get sick often...I feel this is ridiculous to have to carry all this.   I know I will be fine by the 8th.  Of course in NC we now have the yellow pine pollen affecting everyone....lol.....I was told you have to be turned down when you try to board to get a full refund.....Celebrity is taking all the right precautions to protect us......but this tends to put more stress then the virus on cruisers.  We have cruised for many years. I would never cruise sick or put other cruisers at risk. Not fun for me or anyone else....

  11. We have a cruise leaving March 8 on the Edge.....called this morning for updates......Just getting over a slight cold.......they said this may be a problem boarding .......I am fine but it seems one cough or sniffle could prevent us  or anyone from cruising....I really don’t want to fly to Florida just to be told We can’t board.   Their response was not to worry you will get a complete refund.....? We are not worried about the virus....more worried about Celebrity’s response to a cold, sinus conditions or allergies.
