So an educated guess would be that Miracle stays in Long Beach for 2018?
Trying to plan an extended family cruise to Hawaii, and they are curious which ship. :)
Patti
I'm willing to bet Splendor will spend some time out west again before heading across the Pacific.

Holiday decorations should still be up until after the 1st of the month. No special activities unless you're on a New Years cruise.
-
I don't think I ever see any offers come up other than past guest promos that my TA can get me anyways. I need more action in the casino to get one of those cruises.

There is only one ship where I've liked the Joe Farcus, design, which is Liberty. Victory isn't bad either I suppose. Of the ships I've cruised, I disliked Glory the most.
Being totally honest, while I'm not a fan of the designs, they're very photogenic.

Great to see they put a lot of work into the oldest in the fleet.
-
It depends on several things, but the main points being:
-Itinerary
-When the local tour companies have their schedules open and how negotiations go for contracts.
-
Right now its featured on cruises 8 days and longer. Theres been talk of it coming back to cruises 7 days and less (fingers crossed, it's my favorite).

You'll be fine. Deck 0 has crew quarters, freezers, a galley, etc... The louder machinery is towards the back and even then isn't really that noisy.

There are many Chinese sailing on Carnival out of Long Beach. Mainly on the Inspiration and Imagination.
Gotcha.
Today John will be sailing Imagination, so he should have some numbers too.

Great ship, great category!

Looking forward to more !

Princess has had a ship in the China market for at least a year or more now and is bringing a new ship there this year. Costa is also sending a ship to China this year.
Since they are under the Carnival umbrella, perhaps Carnival does not want to compete with them yet until they can see that there is a real need for ships to enter the China market.
It seems like Carnival is taking the same approach as it is in Europe. They have so many brands there that they sure staying away and concentrating on the Caribbean market during the summer while the other brands go there.
That has been their approach in the past. Then they looked like they would deviate, now they are backing off some. Makes you wonder why.I agree. Competing with yourself can cause headaches (see GM).
I'm still not sure that Carnival would really be a good fit for the region. I just don't see the Chinese being particularly interested in Carnival ships and their offerings. Could you imagine sending Carnival Valor over there? haha. I think CCL might have better success with South Korea or even Japan over China.
Thinking about Chinese coming over here, I have noticed in John Heald's "who's sailing with us posts" that there have been very little, if no Chinese guests on ships in the caribbean. Other Asian countries have had more attendance.

Still think it is strange that Carnival is sending two older ships and competition is putting new ships there.
Royal is the only line in Carnival's realm dedicating some of its latest builds to the Asian market longer-term. Princess' date=' Celebrity, Costa, etc are there with older ships as well. Spirit Class ships are good for market entry, and Splendor is the oddball in the fleet (and is coming up on it's dry dock). The two best candidates to go.
It's already been announced that the Miracle and Splendor are going to Asia. And I dare say the Vista's sister ship in 2018 will be heading that way.A good possibility, but I suspect Texas will get the second Vista Class (hopefully giving Liberty back to the East Coast )

Supposedly booking the ships will be done through Costa, or so I've read. Perhaps they will have it separate like Australian cruises. They haven't said much about it.
In Splendor's case, I believe they're waiting on word for the date the widening of the Panama Canal will be completed. The ship had to sail around South America to get to/from the West Coast previously.
It has been said that cruises from China will only be open to people who live there and EVERYTHING on the ship will be in Chinese.Where was that mentioned?
I'd find it a little hard to believe they wouldn't advertise at least some over here or abroad. While China would (of course) be the focus, I can't imagine them limiting it to Chinese only.

Is your friend sure they are screwed shut? Did they ask the crew?
Please re-read the posts.

The official word from a friend on the ship is that they are screwed shut in rough weather. The staff can occasionally forget to remove the screws.
WHEW!

Awesome review, Sean. I really enjoyed myself reading it. HAs anyone ever told you you should write a book? I'd buy it :D. It was great to read that you didn't end up with such a huge phonebill. Hats off to Amit.
Cindy
Thank you!
Hats off to him, indeed. I'd like to write a book, but to be honest, these blogs are enough for me.

Her birth certificate will suffice.

Senor Frogs better than Sabor?! Thats a bold opinion or an off-day for Sabor.
Actually it sounds like an off-week you had for your cruise. I don't blame you for selecting a different ship for your next cruise.
