  1. Just a heads up about the port.....there is one very LONG dock. If your ship docks at the front, its a very long walk from the ship to the exit to the street. If you dock at the back, its a very much shorter walk out the exit to the street. After a full day of touring, that walk back to the ship docked in the front, might have been to the top of Mt Everest, and in the heat....UGH! And they don't offer shuttles on the dock either, being up in age, with the heat, make sure they stay VERY hydrated.

    thanks.......good to know....our boat gets in at 7 am..leaving 6 pm...:eek::eek:..likely not the last one to dock......

  2. Yes, Elite and Elite plus will both get black, we are RCL Diamond plus, our son is Diamond, we both got black.

    It was nice to have a few extras but the perks are nowhere near as good as RCL/X.:)

    Excellent, thanks for your relevant, valuable input.

  3. Does anyone know if you purchase alcohol from the ship store or while in a port on the first leg of a B2B, do they wait until the end of both cruises to give it to you or would you get it back at the end of the first leg of the cruise?

    TIA!

    Store does not know u r b2b...we always had ours delivered last night on first leg......

  4. I just booked a extended balcony, mid ship on the 7th floor of the Legend to Alaska inside passage for $620 with $100 OBC and got to pick my cabin! It's the 9-8-15 date, starts in Seattle and ends in Vancouver. It's under their OH5 offer. I just can't believe some of the offers I've had lately.

    I had a choice of dates one in Aug also or I could have booked them all. They told me my limit was 100 cruises as long as I book before the end of the month and the sailings are by the end of Feb 2016.

    I have noticed they keep adding different ones as others get filled so I think I'll look for another in a day or 2. I already have 2 weeks booked for Southern Caribbean Oct 31th in a balcony. Some of the fairs are starting as low as $38 for solo inside. I usually look for the ones that have a discounted balcony. The one I booked today was not in my offers until today and I couldn't go on the one offered in Aug. so when I saw this one I jumped on it.

    It's great to be retired and able to take advantage of last min offers. There are a few perks to getting old!

  5. If I'm not mistaken NCL has done away with lobster in most dining venues on most ships. From my understanding you can only get it in some of the restaurants you pay a cover for.

    Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

    on the Getaway Thanksgiving week 7 day Eastern Caribbean

    - no lobster tail -

    just a pasta dish with lobster sauce and a few overcooked microscopic lobster pieces hidden under a pile of pasta ......

  6. Also just back on Dec 21st. I also think the food quality has declined significantly. But even so you can still have a satisfying meal, just takes a bit more pick and choose. I am hoping the food will be better on the Equinox in January.

    hoping for .........;

    1. Febr.

    .......... sailing with my daughter who still fondly remembers X sailings years ago ... though I cautioned her enthusiasm pointing out undesirable dining experiences during several recent sailings;

    - perhaps its time to leave X, if the X turns out to be another disappointment .... better to go with someone who does not make high flying claims of superiority without delivering on it .....

  7. I use a waterproof "fanny pack" that I bought years ago at REI. Holds my wallet, key card, and camera. Never has leaked on me. I do leave my towel and sandals on shore, and hope that nobody wants to steal these...and try to keep them in my view while I am in the water, but if snorkeling, that is not usually possible. So far, no shoe stealers!

    I just recently bought myself a Seacure pack, but have not had a chance to try it yet: http://www.seacurebags.com

    where did u buy it, ?

    i found only amazon uk selling it;

    thanks:)

  8. Ours is on the 26. Just booked 4 nights pre cruise in Havana and one after plus Air. All more than we thought but now we are pumped!:D

    eagerly awaiting your detailed report after you did the cruise

  9. thank you, we love the Versailles - but are also very fond of our tourist free accidental find when:

    ... searching for a unique lunch place in 'Little Havana' , Miami. Fl., we found exactly what we were looking for ....... excellent variety of native flavorful food ....

    "our kind of hole in the wall"

    p.s. no idea any more where exactly it is located, need to find it on the internet before going there again - (did search for it 'aimlessly' last time without success - but, I am sure its still there - was too good to go under ....)

    found address:

    1226 SW 8th St, Miami, Florida, 33135-4004

    Phone number

  10. Versailles Restaurant is the most famous Cuban restaurant in Miami.

  11. Yes there are a few. We're sailing out of Tampa on the 16th and I believe we'll park at 241 Car Services (tampaportparking.org). They seem to get good reviews.....$8 a day. Another one is called theparkingdoctors.com..... also gets good reviews....and also $8 a day. From what I've read they both have secure parking (you lock your car and keep your keys) and supply free shuttle service to and from the port....which is very close by. One nice thing is that they only charge for for 7 nights on a 7 night cruise.....I believe the park n cruise place in Port Canaveral charges for 8 days. I could never understand how they got away with that. I've found a couple other parking lots but the reviews aren't as good so I'm not considering them. Hope this helps.

    thank you for the details, - very helpful;

    we asked ourselfes the same question - because we are between Tampa and the eastern ports - sometimes, contemplating to use a cruise out of Tampa instead of MIA /FLL ....

    now we know where to park -

  12. Keep in mind that you will have some time to kill, since you'll be off the first ship before you can check in at the second ship.

    If you are driving to port, the shuttle to your car and a luggage swap might be the easiest.

    If not, a taxi to a downtown hotel, a cup of coffee in Starbucks while the bell stand keeps your bags, and a taxi back to the ship at 11 am might be easiest.

    :):):) Thanks so much for chiming in; - after mulling over the issue, I now realize that it is probably the simplest to shuttle to the car, refresh perhaps Mineral Water supplies or even drive for a quick lunch to a LITTLE HAVANA neighborhood place before shuttling back to port for the next ship on which I now also found a reasonable rate for the following week as another B2B, but this time, - on the same vessel - with different ports -

    hoping desperately for better cruising weather than the perpetual off and on rain showers our Pacific Northwest coast is 'blessed' with since almost a week,....

    ..... blaming Hurricane Ana's aftermath ..:rolleyes:..

  13. Someone able to help?

    Any B2B sailings I did have been on the same vessel / cabin;

    however, now I am contemplating a consecutive 'B2B' sailing out of POM on two different cruise lines which are not interconnected and do not share the same terminal.

    Though the respective ships are likely moored on terminals one behind the other (based on previous observations) there is nonetheless going to be a considerable walking distance of 2-3 or more docked mega liners to switch from one vessel/terminal to the other.

    One option to transition is, using the shuttle service to a Port off site parking garage downtown Miami (and possibly even switch to a clean clothes suitcase to be left in my car) and take the same shuttle back with my luggage to check in with the same day departing cruise ship,

    OR?

    are internal port OM shuttles available to ferry passengers and their luggage from one arrival terminal to another one for departure........ ?

    are hired arrival terminal porters willing / allowed to transfer "kid and caboodle" from one terminal to the next?

    regrettably, most taxi drivers flatly refuse to take such short rides ....

    has anyone done this before and how ? - aside from walking the distance;

    which, unfortunately, I am unable to do - even at moderate temperatures .......

    any relevant suggestion or advise is greatly appreciated;

    Thanks so much.

  15. Hi all

    Just returned from my 28 day Amazon River Cruise on the Pacific Princess.

    If anyone is interested in my review with photos or has any questions I am happy to share just let me know ann at century 21 vancouver dot com

    Hello from White Rock,

    I read your kind offer to email you for an review of your Amazon Trip;

    at present, I am independently researching various en-route stops / jungle excursions for an 8 weeks , (using local freighter launches) Amazon River sailing in May (starting @ its navigable Peruvian contributory leaving Pucallpa or Yurimangas via Iquitos, Leticia/Tabatinga to Manaus with a flight to Belem in order to return upstream to Manaus via Santarem's Alter do Chao before flying home. Hoping you may have some valuable river experiences / excursion trips between Belem - Santarem and perhaps even west of Manaus, hence I will be sending you an email from "fourdominus" asking for your trip review.

    "It's either now or never", as age is ketching up to this grandmother .....:(

    thanks so much in advance....:)
