  1. I'm beginning to think something is wrong. The Horizon is supposed to set sail in less than 15 months and still no launch date or itinerary released. I'm beginning to wonder if it really is slated for the Asian clientele and not for us after all.

I'd be shocked if it did. They said itineraries would be released the first part of December so I would guess it won't be much longer before we find out

  2. I would not expect many changes before 2020 aside from the ongoing Liberty/Valor swap, which could be reversed if Liberty is repaired, and then the Splendor/Miracle swap in 2018.

If Horizon goes to Galveston, I could see a ship move from Galveston to Fort Lauderdale. Given that Florida's east coast is the industry's center stage, I would still expect Horizon to head to Fort Lauderdale.

In 2020, I would expect the new LNG ship to head to Miami. Vista gets moved to Port Canaveral and joins Magic in sailing year-round from there. Liberty takes the New York/Norfolk/Charleston routes from Sunshine, which are expanded to cover the entire year. Sunshine goes year-round in Baltimore, and then Pride moves its summer service to Boston while continuing to winter in Tampa.

In 2022, the second LNG ship gets home ported in Miami. Victory moves to Mobile, and then Fantasy moves to Galveston.

I don't see victory going to mobile. Maybe charleston but not mobile. Could be they send ecstasy to mobile and victory to charleston. I've always maid o thought the sunshine going there was a test to see if they could make a profit with a larger ship in charleston

  3. The reasons for what they did to that ship were unique and temporary. At some point they may continue that again, but the need is no longer there. Without totally dragging this off topic, the Sunshine far exceeded our expectations when we finally got on her. Can't argue with the weather perspective.....

May happen to elation. Who knows what will happen in her month long dry dock

  4. Let me weigh in here with a few comments. First off, we are taking it as gospel that the fire was caused by smoking, which is received at least third hand, from someone who was not involved in the incident. Secondly, we are also taking the claim of "severe damage" at face value, when again the report is at best third hand and not from someone involved at the scene.

For the OP who mentioned that the fire must be severe if the fire doors closed, this is not really the case. If a smoke detector goes off in any cabin or location in a vertical fire zone, regardless of which deck, the fire doors at either end of the fire zone will automatically close.

Now, to me anyway, some burned furnishings do not constitute "severe damage" to a cabin, but may to others. I just saw the comment from Heald about it being on a balcony, and SOLAS requires that either the balcony have a sprinkler, or that the furnishings be flame resistant, and that there is a smoke detector. Given a sprinkler in the cabin, I would believe the fire was dampened by this until the fire teams arrived, if it spread to the cabin at all. As to the time frame, it is standard practice to not call a fire "out" until about 30 minutes after it is "extinguished" to allow for checking whether there are still embers or hot spots, and particularly on ships you have to look for the possibility of hidden hot spots above the ceilings and between the cabin walls.

So, a fire happened, it was quickly dealt with, most likely without damage to adjoining cabins, though the passengers there may be inconvenienced by the smell of smoke for the remainder of the cruise. The party involved will likely be disembarked, naturally without any belongings as they were in the fire, but I seriously doubt they would be charged for the damages. The legal fees involved would more than offset the repair costs.

    Thank you for speaking truth

  5. We just got off the Pride last Sunday. Steve is fine - not a ton of announcements. He does several music trivia events (Beatles, '80's songs, etc) through out the week that were fun.

Isn't that Steve Knisley? Had him on the elation several years ago. I liked him

Here in my pic it's not there but you can see in the bottom right corner of pool where the lift would attach. So yes they have one and it's removable.

In the Havana pool I did notice this cylinder sticking out of the water, not sure if it would house a lift, it would be a very long stretch to reach outside the pool...
