One last question re disembarkation.  Guest Services told me we have to be out of the cabins at 7 and to go to Raw on 5 where wheelchair assistance was first come first serve.  But the disembarkation letter said to go to Raw on 5 at your scheduled departure time…which is 8:15.  So if we leave the cabin at 7 and go to the Elite waiting area in Tuscan…my husband will have to wheel me there…then come back to the cabin to get our one carry on bag and my crutches.  Then at 8 or so when we go to Raw on 5 he’ll need to make two trips again.  Does this sound correct?

I’d go to the concierge & ask for assistance with the wheelchair for disembarking. You should be able to go to RAW or Tuscan in your wheelchair. Your crutches should fit in the back of the wheelchair & you could hold the carryon. Only one trip.

it’s much less expensive to buy a travel wheelchair on Amazon rather than rent one.

  2. So sorry about your leg!  The hand towels (taped into place) on the arm rest of the crutches can be a life saver. Also make sure tge crutches aren’t too short or too tall for you. That makes a huge difference in being able to crutch correctly.

I fell on Silhouhette in February & destroyed my shoulder (just had shoulder replacement surgery). The ship could not do enough for me. I sat in the front seat of park&go van (one step up). A car ride home would’ve  been better than wheelchairs through Atlanta (everlastingly grateful we were in first class)

    heal well & quickly.

  3. You’re probably all really tired if our medical crap (I know we are). Les is having to have injections in each eye on 24th (can’t get med in before then) to reduce the edema (swelling). Poor guy. Has been under the medical gun this year. Then he gets a jury summons while we’re in Hawaii…did a vacation postponement. How old do you have to be to stop getting jury summons???  Melody

  4. I wear blingy tops & silk slacks. Hubs normally wears a jacket & open collar shirt on chic nights. You will look elegant in tux & gown but you’ll likely be one of very few dressed to the nines

Thanks Terri for the suggestion.  It took me 2 years to get rid of my Covid cough, trying different things, different suggestions from different doctors, getting thrush from some of it.  I know what I DON'T want to try this time.  When I used to get bronchitis every winter, my MDs/NPs would try all sorts of things to get rid of the never-ending cough.  I keep looking for something new.  I'm getting tired of having to wear leakage pads now.

Melody - cool hardware!!  I love looking at x-rays.  It looks like it sits lower than I thought it would in the shoulder.  Question - you're the one who had issues with the metal in your mouth, right?  What is the socket made from?    The hydrocodone is the only oxy I've ever used.  I'm very diligent about the dosage.  Our skeleton team doctor gave some to me in Germany back in 2003 (flu that converted to bronchitis) and it's been my go-to since.

OOTD:  joggers and Tshirt.  low 50s and sunny today.  BUT, Monday and Tuesday have highs in the 30s and snow in the forecast.  Those 30-40 degree temp changes in one day are so hard to dress for.  Welcome to May in Utah!!

I’m allergic to nickel. This is pure titanium. It’s also a reverse shoulder replacement. Interesting fact. My ortho surgeon started out as a mechanical engineer then went back to medical school & became an ortho surgeon. He takes care of the Olympic Training Center athletes

  6. Anita!  So good to hear from you. Hope hip/knee get better. Your pictures are fabulous, love the shore ones.

The only recent picture I have is of my shoulder. I’m recovering exceptionally well, doc said in 4-5 weeks ahead of where he expected me to be. Melody

  7. Had my shoulder postop today. Doc was impressed with my progress & dropped me from giant padded sling to just a close to body sling for another month. I have 6 more weeks of therapy & I’ll have to wear new sling on flights (not while in Hawaii). He said my shoulder has zero swelling & looks like I’m at 4-5 weeks postop instead of 2 weeks. I told him I’m motivated. Melody

Lois - the microwave did not dry it out.  It's cut into chunks already and it's not nuked for that long.  I did it for 3 meals and it was still moist.

Melody - I kind of figured you'd get one of the ones I mentioned.   I remember I had a one shoulder bag way back when I had my first surgery and it was a lifesaver.  I used it for a long time even after I was healed.  I wish I still had it around.

Anyone have any good "cures" for a nasty, mucus-y cough outside of water?  I've been forcing myself to drink a gallon of water and it's not helping except making me go to the bathroom more.  Problem is the mucus is nasty enough that it makes every drink taste nasty.  I tried Mucinex  but it has always made me feel loopy stupid for hours.  I'd go back to Urgent Care, but they'd probably think I was just a drug seeker if I ask for some Hydrocodone.  The "tuss" syrup and pills have never done anything for me.

OOTD:  It's in the low 40s today and windy.  I'm hanging out in leggings and a long sleeve T.  Not going out today.

We are planning a 4-5 night cruise with our daughter, husband and 16 month old granddaughter.  Please provide any advice re cabin, if a SV is more spacious.  I can’t seem to find any FV, perhaps they are no longer with the refurbishment of ships.  Many thanks for any input.

    Fvs have been reclassified
