  1. I have never been to any of these places, and would love to visit all of them. So I vote for all of them. The more choices, and different ports the BETTER!

I really really really wish the Ship in San Juan would offer more than one itinerary. While I absolutely LOVED the current itinerary, it would be awesome to alternate each week to different islands since there are just SOOOO MANY choices when you start a cruise all the way South in San Juan. Its a shame they don't visit more of those wonderful islands.

  2. I was looking at recent Personal Navigators posted on Disney Cruise Line Blog Dot Com from the Wonder. I noticed their is a ticket distribution for a meet and greet with Disney Junior characters!

Has anyone done this on Wonder that can offer insight? I don't recall there being any Disney Junior characters on my Dream cruise last year.

Just wondering which Disney Jr. Characters are included? And is this typically offered on the Wonder? We are not cruising again until Oct 2015.

  3. I have my first Disbey Cruise booked as well. The 5 day to Cabo next fall. Booked opening day with my Disney loving cousin for 600 bucks pp for an inside. Cheap for Disney. I wish there was a casino, but at least I can take boos on. Hopefully night life will be good.

Sent from my SM-G900P using Forums mobile app

We are also booked on a 5-day Cabo next fall on the Wonder. I booked the day they released the fares, and got an inside for 3 people for $1700 total. A great Deal for Disney! Which week are you booked?

  4. What type of entertainment does a Disney cruise have for adults? Are the shows on the ship similar to Disney shows in the parks, because sitting through those are like getting my teeth pulled. I would like to see Carnival step up their shows and put a little more of an adult show on at the later hour.

I just feel that I would be stuck on a ship full of cartoon characters and would not enjoy myself. Does Disney have a casino?

I found the main shows to be very enjoyable as an adult. Yes they are filled with Disney characters, but still very enjoyable. Much better than ANY Carnival main show I have seen.

There are plenty of adult options. The Quiet Cove area is a wonderful adult sun deck complete with hot tubs, bar, and a pool! Something that is always lacking with the Carnival Serenity Areas.

The entire area of bars/lounges on the ships is all adults only after a certain time. (9PM i think) Very cool unique thememing in each one, and lots of live entertainment in the evenings to enjoy w/o kids.

No Disney ships have casinos. So if that is a main reason you cruise, than Disney would not be a great option. But with casinos so readily available on land all over the country these days, cruising to gamble just isnt a priority for me. Most cruise ship casino games have terrible advantages for the house that you can avoid at better land casinos, since the ship's casinos are largely unregulated! (6/5 blackjack anyone?? I THINK NOT!)

I'm sure Disney is not for everyone, but I really really enjoyed it. And yes the price is higher, but if you book early and at off times, there are deals to be had! I would never pay the prices that Disney charges in Summer or around Christmas! They are off the charts!

  5. Never done a day pass, but I did stay here pre-cruise last year. Its a very nice hotel, right on the beach, with a great pool, so if those are the thinks you are looking for you should not be dissapointed by this hotel at all.

I do agree though that San Juan really is not the best choice for a beach day. There are so many other options in SJ, that are not as readily available in other ports. The forts are AWESOME, with spectacular views, and should not be missed. Old San Juan offers so much to do and see. While to me the beach in San Juan are just "ok". Not the same stunning beaches you find in other ports like St. Maarten, Grand Cayman, Barbados, etc.

  6. I will agree with what everyone else said. There is def no need to book a ship excursion to view 1 or both of the forts in San Juan. You can walk to both (though Im not sure I would recommend the walk with little ones, its not THAT close.) or there is a free trolley that runs all over Old San Juan including to both forts. You can catch the trolly just accross the street from where the ship docks.

  7. Rent a car at POM instead of doing a shuttle. Then you can drive around a visit whatever you want in the area, grab lunch, etc. Then drop the car off at FLL when its time to fly home.

Its very easy to do, I did it after an Imagination cruise a couple of years ago. We went to South Beach, Bayside, and to the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood before heading to FLL to go home.

  8. Ooooo we will see about that on Saturday. The maize and blue don't stand a chance...haha.

I can't believe this rivalry is ending...

I am sad to see it "end" as well. I do think that the very first bowl game that has the opportunity to pair them up again will certainly do so! (There are not many schools that draw better than ND & MICH) So they will certainly play again, it may just take a few years. I do really hope that both schools can agree to a home and home series with each other again sometime in the future, but I def think this is the last time we will see it on the schedule yearly.

  9. The Valor is a great ship. and while it does not have the 2.0 "upgrades" it does have features that the Liberty does not have post 2.0 upgrades, like the full production shows instead of playlist for example. Many on here will tell you that the 2.0 "upgrades" are not upgrades at all. So if you have never been on Valor, I suggest you take your cruise as planned and enjoy the unique features of a new to you ship instead of getting caught up in the lack of what Carnival calls "upgrades".

  10. I had a two day cruise to grand cayman during the swine flu out break. Our ship left port and returned the next morning. May have to do with gambling.

Not about the gambling. Grand Cayman is a tender port. They don't want to run the boats back and forth all night long. They do the same thing on cruises with 2 days in Cabo because it is also a tender port.

If there is a dock, then the ship stays docked, and you can come and go as you please.

  11. On my last cruise I asked a die hard cruiser which island (Jamaica, Grand Cayman or Cozumel) was the best and which is the best beach. She said right away said 7 mile island on Cayman Island.

I would like to go and see it but not necessarily on an excursion. Would you agree and are there way to get out to it on your own.

    JT:rolleyes:

7 mile beach is awesome! I will also say that Passion Island in Cozumel is pretty freaking amazing too. Jamaica beaches are not that great, at least not the ones at Ocho Rios (I have not been to any others to compare.)

  12. If you went out to dinner in a restaurant at home and didn't order dessert when it was included in the price, would you feel you could go back to the restaurant later that night to get dessert? To me, what you are asking is basically what I just asked you.

This is not the same thing at all. On a cruise you are not paying a set price per meal. You can eat as many meals as you want as often as you want. You could go to breakfast or lunch in the dining room multiple times too.

I see no issue whatsoever with going back later to get dessert if that's your desire. You paid for the cruise fare, so as long as the cruise line allows this it's your prerogative!

  13. Not really sure about best ship because I have not tried enough different ones. I will say that the best itinerary is the Southern out of San Juan. You just can't beat 6 wonderful ports in 7 days!! Definitely not a good choices for those that love sea days since there is only 1, but man or man do you get to see the most wonderful collection of islands out there!! Every day you wake up in a unique destination and each stop offers something different to enjoy. Most other cruises you are lucky to visit 2-3 great ports, this one has 6! It simply cannot be beaten in only a 7-day cruise.

  14. I really enjoyed Spencer Ambrose Tour as well when we were in St. Lucia last year. He and Cosol are the 2 that EVERYONE on these boards do! Def better options than the ship sponsored tours. Smaller groups, cheaper prices, longer times at places, etc.

  15. I'm just speculating, but I would assume that Victory will get a guy's. Victory & Triumph are the only 2 ships in that class, and Triumph has already been upgraded. So I would assume that Victory will get the exact same upgrades as Triumph received. (Minus cleaning up all the poop of course! Lol)

  16. I am not a fan of these types of shows, land or sea. That said I have enjoyed exactly 1 Carnival production show in 3 cruises:

    Ticket to Ride

Now if you want good Production shows try Disney! I don't even like these types of shows as I mentioned, but all 3 Disney ones I saw on my last cruise were AWESOME!

  17. I thought this was old news. They started this a couple of years ago. It will probably replace La Romana, By using the north coast, it'll make it more accessible to Eastern C ships. But yeah, it's going to be a Grand Turk experience, not a Half Moon Bay experience.

You are thinking of Amber Cove, which is a port Carnival is developing on the Northern side of the DR.

This thread is about a port in Hati, not the DR.

  18. Seriously, if you show, football, than you need to show all sports. Football, has to be one of the most boring, and long drawn out games in organized sports. It is definitely, not the most popular sport in the world, and to think that it would be a good idea to use a such a public space to alienate the majority on cruisers to please the few, would be silly. Keep sports in the sports bar, and keep the big screens for family entertainment.

It may not be the most popular in the world (because they play it almost nowhere else in the world) but it is FAR AND AWAY the most popular sport in the United States where 95% of all Carnival cruises originate. So they should def be showing it on Lido.

And no it certainly does not mean that you have to show "all" other sports. Give your customers what they want which is football, but let's not get carried away showing golf to tennis or anything without a huge following on the Lido screen.
