Sunset at 9:45. Does it get any better than a sunset from a ship? Off to bed. We have a 7am excursion to the falls, baths, and lava fields.

I’m still debating whether to purchase a cruise next certificate or take the chance and go with Celebrity next sailing. It’s all coming down to food. Plus, I really like the all inclusive option celebrity offers. Why internet is not included in on board fares in 2023 puzzles me.

I hear that. I like the Prima so far, but looking at Virgin for next sailing for similar reasons.

$450 PER PERSON WITHOUT WINE? Wow, I must be in the wrong line of work. I could literally fly to some European cities in Economy class for that much dough. Yikes. I can safely say no meal would ever be worth $450 for me. Wow.

Hah yeah... Definitely NOT an every day type of place, it's a splurge, and probably only worth it if you appreciate that weird, eclectic, food / experiment that those types of places bring.

But the cool part about Reykjavik is even though it's tiny, it really is like NYC as far as food goes. Expensive, but you can pretty much get everything and any level you want.

We did hot dogs, cheap burgers, Ramen, etc while we were there. All really good.

Observation lounge. Absolutely love the modern,

almost industrial decor with lots of nooks. It is not nearly the size of the lounge on the Bliss, so I am wondering how this is during the evenings and sea days. Beautiful though.

I walked up that way earlier, already crowded but pretty spot. Really love the look of the ship, but it does feel a lot smaller then the Breakaway-plus class.

Did you have a chance to buy any food/drink while you were on land? If so, are the prices as eye-popping as they are rumored to be? I understand a small snack can cost almost $20 USD and a beer is more than $10.

Alcohol is the most expensive part, the government has a monopoly on supply. Food varies. The famous hot dogs run about $5 and it goes up from there.

I had the best meal of my life last night at Ox, which is Michelin Starred, and that ran about $450 per person without wine. So you can do the entire gamut (and we did while we were there lol)

I am following along as we are doing this in Sept 2024.  We are arriving 2 days before the cruise and added 2 days at the end.  We have been looking at the Golden Circle Tour.  I am glad to see it includes the Blue Lagoon.

For what it's worth, I much preferred our South Coast tour with superjeep over the Golden Circle tour.

The ice cave in Katla was awesome.

Has anyone ever booked one way fares on different airlines rather than using the same airline?  I remember reading somewhere that was a bad idea, but don't remember why.

I can't seem to find good times/prices on the same airline for our Tampa -  San Juan flight. Going through Orlando is unacceptable due to drive and traffic.

Booking two one-way fares is not an issue if it's different travel days (ex: outbound and return).

Two different carriers on the same portion of the journey does carry some risks and inconveniences.

You will need to collect luggage and recheck at the ticket counter, then go back through security.

In addition, you are not covered on any delays by the first airline. The second airline only has the obligation for your second flight. You'd fall under however their no-show policy is it you missed it.

For both of those reasons, I've only ever done it when I've had a significant layover, like an overnight, but usually avoid.

Thanks. I wish Delta had more direct flights between SFO and MIA, they took care of us when our flights were cancelled due to the shutdown. Gave us 2 years to use the flight credit. AA has non refundable with change fees. I’ve got the flights tracked on Google flights.

That sounds like basic economy on AA - be careful booking those on any airline.  Normal AA fares are similar to the rest of the industry (no change fees, pay the difference, get a credit back if drops).

We walked by Ocean Blue on our way somewhere, asked the hostess what was available for Champagne by the Glass, she replied Pommery. We said "Veuve?". She said Pommery.

Yeah I think the only place they for sure have it right now is Le Bistro but we got lucky at Ocean Blue

Interesting.  I have P+ for my upcoming cruise.  I'll try Pommery but have always loved Veuve.  I know it wasn't on the most recent list I saw.

Assuming I'm in a specialty restaurant, would Veuve still be included with P+?  Is it only at Le Bistro or is it at other specialties (specifically, Ocean Blue and Cagney's?)

It was at Le Bistro and Ocean Blue.

Thx again everyone!  I am concerned with Ncl’s offer, since it’s a long flight from nyc.  Has anyone flown Alaska air to Seattle, round trip from NYC?  They have an interesting deal with their credit card.  It’s a bogo deal for new card holders. At least I can book my own flights. Thx!

I haven't flown from NYC but we took it direct from Austin a month ago for our Alaskan cruise and it was great

  11. Hey y'all,

I'm excited to embark on my first Virgin sailing in April.

Wanted to share an experience with you. I saw online that I could get transfers to and from the port. Reached out to sailor services and... Had the horrible customer service that everyone here is talking about.

I'm lucky enough to be sailing in a MRS suite, and asked them how to setup the included ride I found online. They acted like they didn't know what I was talking about and emailed me info about taxis in San Juan.

In the meantime, I also found out Virgin has awesome rates on hotels and found out about the red glove email from here.

I reached out to enquire on the red glove email, and got three emails back, full of everything I needed to know, and a phone call welcoming me to Virgin.

Not sure if anyone from Virgin reads this, but if so - Kurt is awesome.

They even found an error in my wife's birthday and proactively fixed my booking, and realized it was my birthday sailing and implied they setup a surprise during the trip.

My reason for posting this is to say - man, if they can deliver that level on the red glove, why can't they get normal customer service at least at a decent level?

The experience I had was so different it's crazy. While I love and appreciate the red glove, it shouldn't be that bad it an experience on the regular line! The regular support should know how the answers to basic questions too!

Norwegian says Seattle at 6 am so with disembarking do I have enough time  if my flight out of Seattle is at 11:28 ?

Are there taxis at pier 66 ?

Seattle has been having issues with the port, and disembarkation is sometimes delayed.

That being said, we got delayed a few weeks ago, had pre-booked a car, and still got to the airport with enough time to drop a bag and eat before our 11:35 AM flight.

    what are you looking for?

on Resilient Lady last month it was mainly remixes of classic hits and chart stuff from the last 20 years. Nothing you’d actually call house/trance or similar. More Beyoncé and Britney etc.

at the PJ party there is more cheesy hits such as Backstreet Boys and Spice Girls.

also on Resilient there is an 80s party but the remixes the DJ picked weren’t great.

Dang! I saw some videos of Diplo and Major Lazer playing, and some people complaining they hated "the EDM", and was hoping they were continuing to play it 😂
