We already have reservations for 2 future Oceania cruises and are wondering if we do get the cancellation options are you required to book a new cruise or can you apply you funds to existing cruises?  Such crazy times

Posters on NCL board say that Norwegian "Peace of Mind" allow them to apply to existing 2022 cruise.

    We are sailing Tuesday!!

From the NCL board, under the NCL POM  (Peace of Mind) policy it appears there may be no set deadline to cancel before the cruise.  If you want to cancel and get a Future Cruise cert, keep watching to see when/whether Oceania joins parent NCL and reinstates Oceania's "Travelers Assurance."

The holiday weekend makes it difficult to judge whether or not this will happen.

  3. Peace of Mind:

Simply put, for new and existing bookings made by January 31, 2022, for any voyage with an embarkation date through and including May 31, 2022, guests are free to cancel up to and including January 31, 2022. Anyone choosing to cancel will receive a full refund in the form of a future cruise credit to be used for sailings that embark through December 31, 2022. Reservations cancelled outside of final payment will receive a full refund back to the method of payment used to book. If outside final payment and an FCC was used as payment, the original FCC will be added back to the guest’s profile.

Our Peace of Mind policy applies to all sailings through and including May 31, 2022, guests are free to cancel up to and including January 31, 2022. To cancel under our Peace of Mind policy, the following terms and conditions must be met:

    • Reservation must be within the final payment period AND must be paid in full.
    • Bookings cancelled inside final payment that are not paid in full will default to the standard refund process with penalties applied.
    • If the booking is outside final payment, regardless of cancellation method, refunds will work as usual. If a guest paid using an FCC, it will be credited back to the guest profile.

    Actually, it does not.

Indeed, you quoted the exact same text that I quoted, when I asked the above questions. I'm still hoping the OP replies to my questions, which I'm sure would be of interest to many here.

    Thanks for your interest.

The problem with Viking is that then you have to eat their food.
Seriously, O doesn’t have to worry about losing its regular cruisers.

    FYI: Here's Silversea's policy:  "

"The following information applies to sailings on Silversea Cruises scheduled during the nationally declared Public Health Emergency involving COVID-19.

    Cruise Cancelled By Guest

If, following a declaration of a Public Health Emergency, you cancel a booking for a cruise scheduled during the declared emergency, but the cruise is not cancelled, you are entitled to a FCC for the cruise fare paid to Silversea. If, following a declaration of a Public Health Emergency, you must cancel your booking because you are prohibited from traveling to the vessel due to a governmental travel restriction, but the cruise is not cancelled, you are entitled to a refund, or an optional FCC, for the cruise fare paid to Silversea. In all other cases our standard cancellation policy will apply, as set forth in the Ticket Contract for your cruise."

As a new stockholder I can appreciate price integrity.  As a passenger, I'll live with it.

A stockholder might appreciate price integrity. But when new bookings start to disappear because customers see other similarly situated lines allowing cancellation with fcc, it might be a different story.  Here's Viking's policy, for example:  "Plan your voyage risk free.
✓ Change your cruise date up to 14 days prior to departure
✓ All change fees are waived
✓ The ultimate flexibility: You have 24 months to select your new cruise date
✓ Combinable with all other Viking offers"

Glad to report that Oceania is now giving us a FCC for our full fare.  The existing (out-of-date) T&C are overridden by their SailSafe provisions and any new developments.  We cancelled due to our country's Dec. 15th travel advisory which was sufficient reason for them.  We would not have cancelled due to a change in itinerary as we have been on O enough times to know we would be happy on-board even without all the original ports.  Thank you to O for reacting so well to changing circumstances.

    Hi Jean and congrats.

We are potentially in a similar situation. Could you please give some detail as to how you successfully resolved your situation? Directly through Oceania or through your cruise agent? Did Oceania specifically mention SailSafe provisions? Did they say what were the new developments? Any other pointers that would be helpful in resolving?

Thanks in advance for taking the time to respond.

The final payment on my Alaska September 1, 2021 cruise is due May 4. I know it is doubtful that this cruise will go ahead, but I did get an email from my TA that the final payment is due soon. I know that they are still hoping to be able to work things out to salvage some of the Alaska cruises but it's not looking good. I hope they change the payment due date to 60 days out as some of you have noted.

Learn form my experience just recently on Vancouver/Tokyo.  RSSC extended the final payment/penalties date one day before final payment was due.  Those who paid before that or whose TA's paid for them before that were out of luck.

  9. RSSC has now extended final payment on Vancouver/Tokyo, and is keeping administrative fee as the penalty until final payment date.  From RSSC:

"We are modifying our payment schedule for the upcoming September 22, 2021 cruise on Seven Seas Explorer  for any reservations that have not yet been paid in full, final payment will now be due 60 days prior to cruise departure date.

Cancellation penalties will remain at their current level until the new final payment date."

  10. Currently on an O waitlist for Marina.  Have a guaranteed concierge cabin; on a wait list for a Penthouse 1.

    Questions:

    1.  What kind of order does O go to on the waitlist, when there is a cancellation. Earliest date, or what?

    2.  Can specific suites be waitlisted or just a class?

    3. When there is a cancellation, will the availability suddenly show on O's website or, instead, will O go to the waitlist, without the availability even showing up on the website.

    4. Must you have a reservation for a cabin, before being waitlisted for a higher cabin?

    5.  Any advice on clearing the waitlist?

    Thanks

Dear Valued Guests and Travel Partners:

On behalf of Norwegian Cruise Line, thank you very much for your loyalty and for making us your vacation of choice.

Due to growing concerns regarding Coronavirus in Asia, all Norwegian Spirit sailings from April 15, 2020 through December 7, 2020 operating in Asia have been canceled. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this causes.

Please be advised that a full refund will be processed automatically to the form of payment provided at the time of booking. As a goodwill gesture, we have arranged for a future cruise credit, worth 10% toward your future cruise, to be issued...

    Sincerely,

    Katty Byrd

    Very good news, indeed.

If I understood the letter of OC of today correctly, they will offer us also a - what they said very generous - compensation. I guess they will come up with all details early next week.

Please reference in what letter OC said "very generous compensation."  Thanks

  13. Doesn't depend on the phone as long as it is a smart phone. It depends on if your provider allow the use of wifi phoning

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

I'm no expert Dave, but according to this Cnet article, it's just the opposite. "All four major US carriers (T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T and Verizon) provide built-in Wi-Fi calling." https://www.cnet.com/news/what-you-need-to-know-about-wifi-calling/

Also note that the article points out that the carriers have different policies as to whether wifi calling is free for international calls to the U.S. For example, "Unless you have an iPhone running iOS 9.3, both AT&T and Verizon charge for international Wi-Fi calls, whether you buy an international plan or pay per use." I'm assuming that quote pertains to international calls TO the U.S., (and not international calls from the U.S., which would be billed as whatever the carrier's plan provides for international calls originating in the U.S.)

  14. The newer wifi calling technology for IPhone and certain others now seems superior to Xfinity. Had no problems with Verizon or ATT wifi calling onboard. Service was without problems and, of course, without charge as long as the wifi is free. However, on a different subject. the ATT onboard cruise package was both unnecessary (use wifi calling instead) and a complete failure as it didn't work during the entire Marina cruise. I had it refunded after the cruise was over. So, wifi calling good, ATT cruise package bad. (In deference to ATT, I'm guessing that there was something wrong with the ship's technology, not ATT's. Our Iphones never showed the logo for the ship's cellular signal.)
