Forgot to post here after returning from Australia/New Zealand. Turns out the Comcast Voice2Go app worked without fail for texting in and out. As to voice, very disappointing (at sea). Worked only intermittently and was not useful. On land, however, with data via either wifi or cellular, both voice and text worked fine.

On the 4/10/17 21-day passage from Miami to Dakar to Lisbon. Any thoughts on the south Atlantic weather that time of the year?
-
Hmmm, most curious. Several posts by at least 4 different CC members have been removed from this thread, all of which were relevant to the conversation. All pertained to the difference between NCL and O regarding suites and overall experience. None were derogatory. Never saw this happen before. Mods, any comments?
From your description, sounds like they were all way off-topic.

It's true that there is decent and above espresso all over O ships, but would still enjoy a Nespresso in the O penthouses. Pretty please?

Any suite on Oceania will provide an earlier pre-cruise reservation window, which would increase the likelihood of being able to get a "prime time" table, and booking above Penthouse level provides early reservations AND a significantly greater number of guaranteed visits to the Specialties.
In certain situations, PH also provides a significantly greater number of guaranteed reservations for the specialties. (Over 17 days, doubles the reservations.)
-
And apologies over the error in the name of the thread. Obviously not the north Atlantic.
-
Worth noting that some of the current specialty restaurant reservation rules are different than those posted above 2+ years ago. https://www.oceaniacruises.com/faq/?cat=reservations#Dining

Thinking about a southern Atlantic crossing from Miami to Lisbon via the Caribbean and Dakar, Senegal in April. Any advice on temperatures and weather, and whether a veranda might be enjoyable that time of the year? Any other comment on the south Atlantic weather and how calm/rough the sea is likely to be that time of the year? (Understand it's impossible to predict, but wondering about tendencies.)
Thanks in advance.

And the answer was???

4 per cabin or 4 per person?

For those who want to see it in black and white: here is the rule as posted by Oceania: "Guests in our suite accommodations can order in from any of our specialty restaurants, in addition to the standard items available on our 24-hour room service menu. Meals from the specialty restaurants may only be served during regular dining rooms in the suites. All guests must order from the same menu." https://www.oceaniacruises.com/faq/?cat=shipboard%20service

We have a wine tour in Waiheke tomorrow. Just off great O cruise Sydney/Auckland. Weather in Auckland perfect. Ensconced in rental apartment on Queen's Wharf until Tuesday.

Both type PH's very nice; matter of personal taste. Without question, you will feel the difference in interior space between the two. It does make a difference. Does the larger deck make up for it? That's where the personal taste comes into it.

Sorry; duplicate.

The benefits are illusory and when they make promises about being able to roll over to other cruises they then rely on the small print that you only see later.
Please tell us what was in the "small print." Are you saying that this portion of the contract ("small print") was not in the agreement when you signed it onboard or are you saying that you simply didn't bother to read it?

Comcast app works perfectly

Great! Thanks for taking the time. Have a great cruise.

It is programmed into the cash registers he to not be able to proceed with the transaction without entering in a DOB of the customer.
Can't tell you the number of times I've witnessed cashiers take a look at a senior citizen and just enter whatever legal age date of birth, without asking for ID.

Enjoy your trip!!!
Thanks. Even if the Voice2go phone audio doesn't work, I would still hope the Voice2go text function will work. Did you try the texting function?

It's early evening and there is an elderly woman (appears to be in nineties) ahead of me in checkout line. She has a bottle of wine. There is a sign on cash register reading "We card everybody." Cashier asks woman for ID. Woman, hands shaking, attempts to find in wallet. Difficult for her to see and she is fumbling. Spills contents of wallet on floor. I pick contents up and hand it to her. She appears on verge of tears. I ask cashier to waive the ID requirement under the circumstances. He actually refuses. Lady gives up on purchase. So do I.

Totally understand your need to get definitive information regarding the working or non-working of your app but, the ONLY definitive will be once you board your cruise and even then, usage will most probably differ day to day.
Understood, but info would be helpful nevertheless. And, of course, you're right to advise not to let the usefulness of the app detract from the cruise. Thanks.

Also the COMCAST App or SKYPE did not work on Riviera. They restricted user bandwidth because of the number of people using the Internet.
Paul, could you please be more specific as to whether this was your personal experience or something you were told? You personally tried to use Comcast Voice2go and it didn't work, or you were told this by somebody else, or you tried to use Skype and it didn't work or was told it didn't work and so assume Voice2go also wouldn't work? Thanks.

Ohmark. Just remembered we have used viber to make calls on board using wifi with no problem. Amazingly we had strong signal in waters near Iceland. If viber works Comcast should too. Boarding in two days and will report

You are using Comcast this time?

No matter how the industry defines it, to me free booze and luxury are not synonymous. To each his own.

Happy that its ships are better than its website.
Anybody use AT&T Cruise Package?
in Oceania Cruises
Posted
AT&T offering an onboard cruise package on Oceania (and some other lines) without data or texts as follows: $30 for 50 minutes of talk with $1.00 a minute over (no data; texts at higher price). Anybody use this service for voice? Comments?
