  1. Hmmm, most curious. Several posts by at least 4 different CC members have been removed from this thread, all of which were relevant to the conversation. All pertained to the difference between NCL and O regarding suites and overall experience. None were derogatory. Never saw this happen before. Mods, any comments?

From your description, sounds like they were all way off-topic.

  2. Any suite on Oceania will provide an earlier pre-cruise reservation window, which would increase the likelihood of being able to get a "prime time" table, and booking above Penthouse level provides early reservations AND a significantly greater number of guaranteed visits to the Specialties.

In certain situations, PH also provides a significantly greater number of guaranteed reservations for the specialties. (Over 17 days, doubles the reservations.)

  3. Thinking about a southern Atlantic crossing from Miami to Lisbon via the Caribbean and Dakar, Senegal in April. Any advice on temperatures and weather, and whether a veranda might be enjoyable that time of the year? Any other comment on the south Atlantic weather and how calm/rough the sea is likely to be that time of the year? (Understand it's impossible to predict, but wondering about tendencies.)

    Thanks in advance.

  4. For those who want to see it in black and white: here is the rule as posted by Oceania: "Guests in our suite accommodations can order in from any of our specialty restaurants, in addition to the standard items available on our 24-hour room service menu. Meals from the specialty restaurants may only be served during regular dining rooms in the suites. All guests must order from the same menu." https://www.oceaniacruises.com/faq/?cat=shipboard%20service

  5. Both type PH's very nice; matter of personal taste. Without question, you will feel the difference in interior space between the two. It does make a difference. Does the larger deck make up for it? That's where the personal taste comes into it.

  6. The benefits are illusory and when they make promises about being able to roll over to other cruises they then rely on the small print that you only see later.

Please tell us what was in the "small print." Are you saying that this portion of the contract ("small print") was not in the agreement when you signed it onboard or are you saying that you simply didn't bother to read it?

  7. It is programmed into the cash registers he to not be able to proceed with the transaction without entering in a DOB of the customer.

Can't tell you the number of times I've witnessed cashiers take a look at a senior citizen and just enter whatever legal age date of birth, without asking for ID.

  8. It's early evening and there is an elderly woman (appears to be in nineties) ahead of me in checkout line. She has a bottle of wine. There is a sign on cash register reading "We card everybody." Cashier asks woman for ID. Woman, hands shaking, attempts to find in wallet. Difficult for her to see and she is fumbling. Spills contents of wallet on floor. I pick contents up and hand it to her. She appears on verge of tears. I ask cashier to waive the ID requirement under the circumstances. He actually refuses. Lady gives up on purchase. So do I.

  9. Totally understand your need to get definitive information regarding the working or non-working of your app but, the ONLY definitive will be once you board your cruise and even then, usage will most probably differ day to day.

Understood, but info would be helpful nevertheless. And, of course, you're right to advise not to let the usefulness of the app detract from the cruise. Thanks.

  10. Also the COMCAST App or SKYPE did not work on Riviera. They restricted user bandwidth because of the number of people using the Internet.

Paul, could you please be more specific as to whether this was your personal experience or something you were told? You personally tried to use Comcast Voice2go and it didn't work, or you were told this by somebody else, or you tried to use Skype and it didn't work or was told it didn't work and so assume Voice2go also wouldn't work? Thanks.
