It's worth the $50 to me to be able to leave our carry-ons in the cabin. Lugging those around the ship isn't fun. I want the fun/relaxation to start as soon as I'm on the ship. :D

I'm pretty sure that's a crew stairwell. I don't think it should be an issue.

You can price match to any rate you qualify for (casino, military, whatever) as long as it's not a guarantee.
The casino rate shouldn't go away once you book.
And finally, if you get price drops before your final payment is due, they just reduce the amount you need to pay. Any price drops after final payment will show up as OBC.

Hey Coconut, how do you know for sure that the shampoo doesn't have conditioner in it? Not trying to beat you up here just curious. This topic is of major concern for some folks it seems.
Also, when we have booked balcony cabins we got the basket of freebies but last year we were in an OV and got nothing. Maybe they don't put them in every room. I don't know.
I noticed one of the bottles the steward was using for refilling it... it was just labeled "shampoo". And just from experience, it didn't condition my hair. (I have pretty coarse, wavy hair for a guy, and can usually tell.) I'm not absolutely certain it's without conditioner, but I'm probably 98% sure.

Do you know if iMessage works over the speed?
Sent from my iPhone using Forums
It should. Like i said, i'm pretty sure the speeds are 3G. But there will be a lot of extra latency due to the satellite connection.
The majority of people I've seen use the Carnival wifi, and not the international data, but I'm sure there are people who need to be connected and have used it. I don't remember seeing any reviews or anything about the cellular connections.
-
While the data package is only $25/100MB, you will still be able to get calls and texts (since you're technically on an international roaming plan), so your bill might be much higher than you expect using the cellular connection. Even if you don't answer your phone, and get a voicemail, I've heard stories about people being charged by the minute for the time that people are leaving messages and such.
Voice rates are $2.49 a minute on Verizon, and the texts are $.05 to receive and $.50 to send.
I guess if you need to be connected 24x7 and not just turn on the wifi every little bit to check messages, the data plan might be the way to go, as Carnival doesn't care how much data you use, they just charge by the minute...

There is a combination shampoo/conditioner in the dispenser in the shower with a dispenser with body wash in it. They have a smell like Lemongrass to me. I was glad I brought my own body wash as I couldn't really get the one provided to lather up.
If you are picky about your shampoo or need an additional conditioner you might want to bring your own supply. There is a small hair dryer in most of the rooms, in a drawer in the desk/vanity area. It is more like a travel hair dryer, not a lot of power. There should be robes in your cabin closet - they normally provide 2 in each.
Correction: the shampoo that Carnival provides does not have conditioner in it.
There is also a basket in the bathroom with random trial size stuff, but nothing regular enough to count on.... usually nose strips, maybe some toothpaste.
Most ships have a hair dryer, and there will be robes in your cabin to use for the cruise, $50 if you want to buy one to take home.

Your best bet is to buy an internet package. I think you will get 3x data on the ship, but it's crazy expensive. The ship's internet, while slow (and real high latency, due to the satellite connection) will be cheaper and allow you to access all of those over wifi.

Time for Sunday's quick fire round of questions. OK, here we go.
If we decided to put an App on the ship which when downloaded enabled you to text and call others on the ship who had downloaded the app for free..............would you use it ?
Yes or no please.
Here's the exact post.

If you simply cancel, Carnival will refund everything but $250 pp as long as you're not in the penalty period.
You can then rebook, just don't do it at the same time.
-
I'm not familiar with the rate restrictions on the Pack & Go rates, your best bet is to call Carnival, and if you don't get the answer you want, call a few more times to verify. Sometimes you'll get somebody that will go above and beyond.
-
Usually, if it ends up in you paying more money to Carnival, they will allow you to upgrade.
-
I've seen some clothes dryers that run on 220 v. that have that type of plug, but I don't think anyone brings their dryer with them. Not sure what else would fit that plug.
I'm pretty sure the vacuums that are used to clean the room use the 220 outlet.

Usually, if it involves paying more money to Carnival, they will allow you to upgrade.

Possibly, but a quick trip to guest services gets one a new card.
True, but why subject yourself to that potential time-waster? Depending on the time of day, you might wait 15-20 minutes or more in line.

I agree but I don't remember seeing in the small print that changing to a different rate code would remove any benefits from the existing booking. I know that's how it works and actually warn people about it when I can, but I just don't remember ever actually reading it anywhere. I'm going to go see if I can find it on Carnival's promo page.
Edit: I've been checking the promo legal terms here but cannot find where it says switching to a different promo will remove existing benefits. Somewhere I learned it was how things work, but I don't remember where I learned that.
That's just the thing. You are switching promos. You don't get the best of both worlds. You're not adding on to a promo. If you trade in your BMW for a Kia, you don't get to keep the BMW. :p

I do the same. Still trying to figure out who "they" are and why they say not to.
I think the safes can corrupt the magnetic strip on the card (probably a very low occurrence) and would make your card unusable to get into your room, use in the casino, etc.

I think that the $50 deposit sale they were having was an ES rate, so you may not be allowed to downgrade.
-
Hmm. I was just curious if anyone has ever canceled and gotten their full amount back, including OBC, since that was the full amount that I paid into it.
Again, I'm hoping for the best but am preparing for the worst case scenario.
You'll need to read your travel insurance policy. I'm sure different companies have different ways of dealing with claims.
That being said, you should be eligible to get back what you've paid, if it is a valid claim, but again, it would be subject to the policy terms and conditions. There's really no "one size fits all" answer for this.
-
Just be careful booking with an online TA or any other TA for that matter. Some of them will pull the promo OBC or charge a fee to submit price drops, if you book ES.
Carnival won't even talk to you about your booking, you have to do everything through the travel agent.
As for a "good price", if you get a price that you think is decent, in my mind, that's a good price. You can always book ES if you're ok with the restrictions, and watch for price drops as well.

The blank, non-activated gift cards will work, but I doubt more than one will open the same safe. Even though they're not activated, each one has a unique number.

They have juices available on the lido deck at breakfast (think they are apple, orange, and a guava-passion blend), then they are swapped out with tea/lemonade for lunch. Juices are available at no extra charge from room service, but you should tip.
You can also buy the soda card, which i believe covers all the juices you can get from the bars. For a child, it's something like $4.50 a day.

According to goccl, it will accommodate a trundle, but does not have a pull down or a couch that converts to a bed.

Question about cabin amenities on Carnival
in Carnival Cruise Lines
Posted
The "fridges" are nothing to write home about on the ships that do have them. Took a full day (24 hours+) to get a couple of sodas cold (and even then, they weren't real cold). You're better off with ice anyway.
