  1. Can you please share the contact info for the transport company that you used? Thanx

We've used Canada Transfer and the were slightly cheaper than USA and were punctual and courteous.

  2. Just curious if anyone can give me some names of nice all inclusive resorts in Cancun. Thanks

We stayed at the Catalonia Maroma in the Riveria Maya. It was just beautiful. From the walk from the lobby to our room to the beach. It carries more of a European crowd so if you are looking for party central this isn't the place. The most fantastic part is the beach. No other beach has hands on this beach from Caymans to Vina del Mar Chile. It was awesome.

  3. If you like practical jokes read on. I would tend to believe this will in any hotel but it does require some effort. I happened to obtain an ice tray for free at this liquor store I visited. Thinking of how I could amuse myself I placed a mentos in the tray and filled it with water. I covered the tray with a plastic bag and removed a lot of ice from the machine. I placed the ice tray in the machine and returned the ice. Hours later I retrieved my ice tray. My son asked for a soda from our room and I placed my special ice cube in a cup and poured his coke into the glass. Once the ice melted and made contact with the 8-10oz left in the cup. BOOM a big explosion of Coke all over him. Everyone laughed included my sticky son.

    Good times!!

  4. I've been looking and noticed the Sushi restaurant also has fees associated. that is a true bummer, their advertisement of sushi, spa, and yoga were pretty much the only reason we booked the cruise instead of a resort. I hate to sound negative, but a bit disappointed since I specifically asked carnival when I booked my cruise if all restaurants were included, she said the steakhouse was the ONLY one not included. I also see that water must be paid for. I can understand soda, and alcohol. But really water? Starting to regret my choice of vacation...Not sure what is included?:o

You can also bring your soda from your room and ask for a glass of ice.

  5. Hai'dere,

I have yet another question. Anyone know any good secrets for upgrading to a higher class cabin for free/cheap? I am currently booked in Cabin R299 on the Paradise June 19th sailing, and I really, REALLY want a Grand Suite, because of a couple of reasons, such as my desire to have a balcony and to have a larger room, because I have a large, 4 person family. Just wanted to check and see if I can know any of your secrets ;).

    Thanks,

    ^^FM

The only time I got a call from the upgrade fairy was to give up my room and go up 1 floor so that and disabled person would make better use of the room and be closer to his family/caregiver. I believe this was done not for my sake but for my fellow passenger as Carnival went above and beyond to accommodate him. I just happened to benefit.

  6. This. I don't want to constantly have to monitor my account and make trips to Guest Services or a kiosk to replenish my S&S with cash.

The last time I was on the Liberty they had these little kiosk machines similar to an ATM. Their usage allowed you to review charges and add cash without getting line at Guest Services. I'm one of those cruisers who likes to know where every nickel is and control our spending. Between our room's TV and the kiosk I was all set for success.

  7. I wanted to ask before I book: if I book online for the first cruise night, will they still offer the free wine bottle or do I have to book while onboard?

Which ever way you go they will honor the first days promotion. Also if you have a food allergy the MDR maître d will put it in the computer and the steak house will be aware prior to your arrival.

I drink that every morning at home. That indeed is delicious.

  9. Just use rum runners like everyone else.

That isn't funny though. This thread isn't meant to gather information on how to really do it but to make fun of all the inventions out there that people buy or use to do it.

The colostomy bag would probably work but EWWWW!

Another good way of sneaking the booze on board is to get tipsy just prior to going through security. Even though if you smuggle too much of the booze through your veins they may not let you onto the boat. But it does take the sting out of waiting in the lobby.

  10. We were just discussing this because I had packed 5 50SPF sprays for our upcoming cruise. Hubby said just pack the lotion kind because the spray doesn't last, and yes, it does blow everywhere if you are out in the breeze, which is a lot of the time. I don't like spraying it in the room, way too strong. I did pack one spray, though, for ease of application. I will put the lotions on in the room and do shoulder touch-ups with the spray.

I totally agree. That's why I leave my room head on about 8 doors down and apply my spray there. That way when I walk past my room out to the lido deck I don't have that smell anywhere near my room.

You don't like the smell? Aren't you applying it to yourself and walking about?

  11. What is the cheapest way to get to ft Lauderdale airport from port of Miami?

If you are REALLY feeling adventurous. Walk a little over a mile over the bridge until you get at the corner of Biscayne Blvd and NE 6st and hop on the number 3 bus. 101 stops later get off at Aventura Blvd and NE 29st and hop on the number 1 bus. 44 stops later it will leave you at the FLL rental car area. Walk 1/4 of a mile and you've entered the airport.

Now that sounds like an adventure!

  12. Just an FYI.

Last Sunday we could not go through security to the gate until 2 hours prior to our flight time. We arrived 4 hours before and had to wait in the baggage claim or ticketing area. If we had known we might have been more inclined to book an excursion. It may just have been for Spring Break?

The Mediterranean restaurant on Concourse C (Southwest) is closing today and under new owners, I don't know when they are opening.

In my opinion, you should avoid flying into FLL on the day of your cruise. Until they have the construction finished. Over the last 6 months we have had 4 flights in/out that have had over an hour delay.

That sounds like a whole world of sucks.

  13. We've been on 3 flights at 1045 and still have time to goof at MIA. I don't recommend it to the weak of heart but it hasn't hurt us yet. With that being said our next flight in January is at noon simply because it's 60 dollars cheaper than any other flight. Money is money folks.

  14. We made reservations 6 weeks in advance for round trip service from the Miami airport to the Miami Port Authority. We had asked to be picked up at 10:30 am at the Miami air port. When we arrived at 10:15 with luggage we called. "NO PROBLEM" was the reply from Yolando. 1 1/2 hours and many phone calls later they had not arrived and told us many many lies. Coming back we called when we got off the ship. The reply was, "we will be there in 30 minutes". 1 hour and 12 minutes later after many calls to an answering machine we took a taxi to the airport. We could have missed are airplane if we waited any longer. There appears to be one "owner - dispatcher", (Yolando Ramos) who will lie to you while he searches for an available shuttle then puts all calls into an answering machine. This operation should be shut down by the BBB.

We had a similar experience from the Baymont in Doral to the POM. It took him over an hour to get to my hotel to pick us up. I was about to get on the shuttle to MIA and then pay for a cab to the port. I originally thought it was a fluke and was going to leave it alone since they apologized so much. Now that I have read this post, I too won't be using them again in the future.

  15. We are currently scheduled to fly into Miami the morning of our cruise on June 1st. After reading all the posts on CC, I realize that wasn't the best choice.

The airline just sent notification that our flight has changed. The change appears to be on my return flight home, switching us to another airplane. Would this change allow us to make changes to our flight without an additional fee?

We would like to change our flight to arrive the day before. I'm already nervous about the early morning flight and the airline changes have only intensified my anxiety.

I had my previous flight changed by 45 mins and AA have me no issues in changing my entire ticket around.

  16. We're taking a 10 year anniversary cruise next year. I am hoping to put together a vow renewal. The one on the ship is kinda pricey. Does anyone have suggestions for ones during port days? We're going to Isla Roatan (sp?), Cozumel, and Costa Maya.

    Thanks in advance!

Were you looking at doing it while at sea or while your were on your cruise such as Cozumel.

  17. Seriously??? I can't imagine anyone who works in a client or customer based industry would want all of their customers or clients to try to be their best friend! I'm sure those young men and women have plenty of friends. I'm sure they want the same things out of their job that the rest of us want out of our job...... money, respect, and to have a life separate from the job. So if you want to fulfill their dreams do the following:

    1) give them extra tips,

    2) when you leave your room put out the "cruisin" sign so they'll know they can enter to clean the room without having to put up with talking to you

    3) and lastly tell their boss what a great job they do.

    100% agree with your statement!

  18. We made an 11:30 am flight last year no problem, this year the flight out is 11:40 a.m. we in fact sat around the airport forever, we grabbed a cab as soon as we walked off the ship, no problem at all

We've gotten a 1045 flight out of Miami with plenty of time for us to be bored at the airport.

  19. Belize may be what it is but I would take going on that route just to go to Roatan. Its so great. I kinda make Belize our chill day and we do big fun stuff the other 2 places.

We are on that western route on the Conquest. DW and I are using Belize as an extra day at sea with us making use of the laundry room on that day.
