  1. The beverage packages don't cover specific cocktails. They cover certain brands of liquor. If you go to a bar and ask for "a pina colada," it will be covered because they'll make it with well rum (I think they use Ron Roberto), which is covered by the Classic package. If you order it with Bacardi, it'll be covered, but if you want it made with Mount Gay, you'd need to pay the full price or upgrade to the Premium package. So if you'd be happy with Ron Roberto or Bacardi and other similar quality liquors, stick with Classic, but if you like premium booze, then upgrade.

  2. When the welcome-aboard "champagne" touches my lips :D

For me, its when we arrive at the port and spot "our" ship for the first time.

On our first cruise we flew in the day of (I know, big no-no, but we had no choice.) Despite all the stress of wondering if we'd make the cruise, one cool thing was that as we turned to line up with the runway, we descended below the clouds and there was our ship! For me, nothing beats first seeing the ship from the air, even though I never want to fly in the day of again!

  3. I take a photocopy of my passport and put extra copies of important docs and excursion tickets in my checked luggage. I also create a PDF of all documents and trip information and have that in my email in case I need to access it.

One thing I would NEVER do would be to make a photocopy of my credit cards or write down the credit card number. I see this recommended on these boards all the time and I don't know why because it is so dangerous. I think someone would be much more likely to misplace or accidentally throw away the copy of their credit card than to actually lose their credit card or have it stolen. I do write down the contact number for the credit card company, but that is it.

  4. The ship seemed to be in great condition. It's funny - the summit is actually a lot smaller than the Oasis, as an example, which was my last ship - but I actually felt like things were more spread out - walking from the dining room to the theatre seemed long at times. That being said - there is nothing that I outright disliked. The beds were comfy. The cabin was a comfortable temp too -which is a first for me on a cruise ship. Usually the rooms are too warm for me.

On my Summit cruise I was in 7049, so in a similar neck of the woods. I agree with you about how far apart things seem. It was such a long walk to get anywhere, especially to the buffet and dining room since they are so far aft. In a weird way, the Silhouette seemed smaller even though it is quite a bit larger, but I was in a midship cabin so I was pretty close to everything. If I ever cruise on the Summit again, I would definitely get a midship or aft cabin.

  5. My BF and I will be in Cozumel in December. We want to do a tequila tasting and decided on Hacienda Antigua. I would also like to go to the beach and maybe get in a tiny bit of shopping. The two beaches that look most interesting to me are Playa Palancar and Punta Morena. I want a beach that is not too crowded but also has good, inexpensive food and drinks. Which beach would be better to go to after the tequila tasting, and what would be the best way to get around to these places? We absolutely WILL NOT rent a car. Punta Morena doesn't look like it's far from Hacienda Antigua, but would we be able to get a taxi back to the other side of the island? How much might it be if we have the driver take us to Hacienda Antigua, wait for us, and then over to Playa Palancar? And how long would that take? I don't want to spend a fortune on a taxi, but I'm hesitant to book a driver for the day because we usually like to be flexible about our plans in port.

  6. Are the seafood kabobs seasoned with anything special? Is there a good portion of scallops and shrimp? How is the fish?

The seafood kebab is just scallops and shrimp. I think they season the meats and seafood with whatever they think tastes best but if you wanted something different or no seasoning at all, just tell them. The different glazes and seasonings are listed on the bottom of the menu.

  7. Are we missing something? Our printed e-docs seem to be the 3-pages-only Xpress Pass.

There was a separate Cruise Ticket Contract you can print with cancellation penalty information - is that what you mean? I don't think it was that many pages long or had anything about "Onboard Confirmation."

(We just did the online check-in recently for an upcoming December cruise sailing round trip Ft. Lauderdale on Constellation.)

E-docs aren't issued until at least 49 days before your cruise, so you won't have them yet.

  8. Did the prices for any of the other specialty restaurants go up? My BF and I were just talking about the prices of the specialty restaurants and he was saying he thought they were pretty expensive. We will probably go to Tuscan Grille on our upcoming cruise since that's the only one we haven't tried yet but I'm disappointed to hear that it's $45 pp now. I'd book it now to get the cheaper price but we want to use our OBC.

  9. I've noticed that when TAs have made changes to my booking that it sometimes affects the info I've entered into online check in. Have you checked through all the sections to make sure none of your entries have disappeared? I think something like this happened to me before and either checking over all the sections or waiting a day fixed things for me.

  10. It's so depressing to see the price start to drop now that final payment time has arrived. But, alas, I suppose Celebrity has a right to do whatever it can to fill the cabins. Does anybody know if most Celebrity sailings are sold out or near capacity? Not that it matters, but I wish there was a way to check a specific cruise's passenger load.

I think we are on the same cruise. Final payment isn't due until Tuesday (9/30). Your TA probably told you a final payment date a few days early so they can make sure everything is processed before the actual date. So you could try for the lower rate and see what happens, but I think the drink package will probably complicate things. I saw that the price for the cabin I booked is down another $50, but it looks like a 3 day sale that Celebrity is doing, which means it wouldn't be combinable with 123 Go/Pick Your Perk. At the last price drop my TA told me I couldn't have it and keep the drink package, although later she said Celebrity agreed to do it as a "courtesy."

  11. Thanks all! I decided to book the 1:30 flight since it's only about an hour later and we can be a little more leisurely in disembarking. Plus, I was remembering the looooooong lines as we disembarked last year, so I (hopefully) won't be looking at my watch too impatiently as we go through customs.

  12. I'll be on Celebrity Silhouette this December, disembarking on the 21st at Port Everglades and heading back to Boston. I'm trying to book my flights right now, but for my return flight I can't decide whether I should book the 12:40pm or the 1:30pm flight (I know, I know, poor me ) I don't want to be waiting around unnecessarily, but I don't want to book a flight that's too early and be stressed about making it. Both BF and I will be heading back to work the next day, so we don't want to get home too late. It looks like Celebrity says flights 12:30 or later are okay, but is 12:40 cutting it too close?

  13. There's a place in the online check in to order luggage tags that's totally separate from the e-docs. The only thing e-docs have to do with luggage tags is that there are some printable luggage tags in the back of your e-doc booklet if you can't or don't want to get them in the mail. As previously mentioned, hardly anyone prints the full booklet...it's a waste of paper and ink for not much important information.

  14. I've been trying to find out if smoothies frozen drinks and non Alcoholic cocktails are included in the Non Alcoholic classic package. We've always bought this package but never ordered any.

I've bought the premium this time so we can get them but now wonder if this was necessary.

The link to the list produced by celebrity is very informative but doesn't cover the non A packages. :(

All the non-alcoholic things that are included in the Classic Alcohol Package are included in the Classic Non-Alcoholic Package. The list Celebrity posted shows smoothies and NA cocktails available on the Classic package.

  15. Makes me kind of chuckle........my preference would be a week at sea with no port days.

This would also be my preference :D I love sea days...I'm happy to eat, drink, relax, and not worry about the logistics of a day in port.

  16. This whole discussion is driving me to drink.

I haven't had a drink since Labor Day and was waiting until tomorrow to have a few during the NCAAF games but couldn't resist it and had to pop open a Sierra Nevada seasonal OKtoberfest.

    Drink up 🍸🍺🍻

There are NCAAF games on Friday night! You could have had a few while you watched my beloved BC Eagles get pantsed by Pitt. If I wasn't already drinking I'd want to have a few...

  17. On my last cruise, there was a guy that came up to me and my BF and started talking random, drunken nonsense at us. Nothing abusive or anything. It was a little annoying but kind of amusing. After his GF/wife recovered from her embarrassment, she led him away. Now, he probably had the drink package since there were several 123 Go/Pick Your Perk sales before that cruise, but maybe he didn't. People who get that drunk are going to get that drunk package or no package.
