Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Plenty of room for carry on luggage in the cars we rode in.
  2. June 11 Midnight Sun. Sushi was only available at dinner. Some form of seafood was available at every lunch. Grilled shrimp was available daily.
  3. The June 10th tour of Oslo included Vigeland Park and the Norwegian Maritime Museum. The train to Bergen on the 11th turned into a bit of a fiasco. An hour into the train journey were were informed of track maintenance, and that there would be busses waiting for us at Voss. When we arrived at Voss there were no busses. We arrived at the ship considerably later than we expected.
  4. Bridge camera and stick with the automatic settings. I've been to AK 6 times and always took a bridge camera for those really long shots and for taking pictures of eagles. I use two settings, automatic and sport. I got some really nice pictures of the glaciers on a moving train train going from Anchorage to Seward using the sport setting. I upgraded to the Panasonic FZ80 since that picture was taken.
  5. 6/11 cruise. One tour we wanted was sold out. We are hoping they are able to add extra or someone cancels. Two other tours we had picked out for 2020 and 2021 before getting cancelled are no longer offered. All-in-all we got what we wanted and still have a chance to get the one tour we were too late for.
  6. That is a 6 star rail journey. We didn't go directly to a ship so our procedure was to check our luggage with the RR and then check in at the terminal and get our Gold Star pins. Gold Star is worth every penny. Both time we took the train to Seward I spent the times from Girdwood through the mountain passes on the observation platform. Fantastic photo opportunity.
  7. This ^^^^^^. Assuming you have an APS-C sensor and at Denali 640mm equivalent beats 480mm equivalent for animals, as most are distant. You will want wide angle for most of the rest of your photos.
