  1. We sailed on the Sky in the 80s. I believe it was to China. Captain Vebenstadt was in command. He later taught at the maritime academy and is now deceased.

We were on the RVL Star on its last cruise before becoming the NCL Star for its next cruise. Had a long evening with the captain in his cabin. It was quite a treat. Having said that I forget his name.

  2. We were on one of the early cruises of RV Sun. It was the North Cape and I remember the large numbers of people along the shore line and on bridges watching us pass and taking pictures. Of all the cruises we have taken this one holds the most memories, of the ship, the crew and Captain Harshiem.

Wondering where Capt. Harshiem is now. I heard he had left Residencesea.

  3. When we went to a TA and asked them to recommend a cruise, our first, she told us that everyone should cruise RVL at least once. We took the cruise, Alaska, and cruised with them five times before they folded. Our last cruise was on the Star before it went to NCL. We did the North Cape to Spitzbergen on the Sun when it was new. Third cruise for it I believe.

The captain was Olaf Harshiem who made you feel like he was operating your yacht. He was later on the World of Residence Sea. Don't know where he is now. Great memories. Nothing half as nice since. No pretty Norwegian cabin attendants. No European waiters.

Next cruise 25 days on Oceania in November.
