Not sure how "new" this is because I seem to remember this pre-Covid. Souvenir cups sold at bars have had auto-gratuity added to them for as long as I can remember (yes I have a couple of the coconut monkeys, my daughter wanted one of those fish). I would think the coffee mug probably came with a cup coffee? Seafood Shack has always been a charge and had gratuity added I think so nothing really new for me.
The coffee mugs were boxed for sale and didn't include a beverage. Maybe I didn't notice the service charge at the Seafood Shack last fall. It's possible.

I searched the forums but didn't see any threads about this. We just came back from the 6/4 Magic sailing. Carnival has started adding surprise 18% "Service Charges" to things such as coffee mug purchases from the coffee bar and food purchased at the Seafood Shack. Last year, two orders of lobster rolls were $24, and this year we paid $35.40 for smaller portions. The service charge is automatically added to your purchase and is separate from the optional gratuity line on your receipt. I went to Guest Services to have the charge removed from the coffee mugs, but my account was never adjusted as promised. Did I miss an announcement about this? It really left a bad impression, and I am unlikely to purchase extra items on future cruises.

Pretty sure that we're just SOL regarding the lost value of the car. I'm sick about this since I have fewer than 6K miles on it. I do tend to keep my cars for many years, though, so it is unlikely that I'd sell it.

Or the cost and time delayed in reaching your destination. Does that car even drive?
We drove the Mazda to Richmond yesterday. It makes a weird noise when going over bumps, so I'm not driving it again until it goes to the shop for repairs. The Subaru drivers were still there with the rep when I left. They were trying to figure out what to do regarding towing.

Wow, that is crazy and I would have been over the top mad...did they contact their insurance company when it happened? They should have sent in pix immediately and filed a claim to get the process going. Sorry, but if you not able to make contact with insurance is not a good sign and hopefully their insurance is with a reputable company, If you cannot get anywhere I would contact my attorney to light a fire under the car company to do what they should have already done when it happened. I would definitely be suspicious of this situation and stay on top of it.
Yes, I'm still over the top mad and suspicious as well. It is infuriating that the company did not have the claim in process when we returned! The Allied Universal security company's leased fleet is covered by Greenwich insurance, but every person I reached on Friday told me to call someone else. The security company's Norfolk Account Manager committed to providing us with the correct claim information on Monday, but I have started the claim process with my own insurance as well and placed it in a pending status. I was hoping to avoid having to come out of pocket for my deductible by dealing directly with the at-fault party's insurance. The break-in victims are now being told that the security company will not take any accountability for repairs.

The guard allegedly hit the gas instead of the brake after rounding a corner. I'm skeptical.

We parked in the designated "secure" Norfolk cruise parking lot for our 6/4 cruise on the Magic to find our car heavily damaged upon our return today. On 6/7, the security guard crashed into 5 parked cars. The security company rep said that the company will cover repairs; however, I was unable to initiate a claim with their insurance company today. In addition, more than 20 cars were broken into during this sailing. Was anyone successful in initiating a repair claim today?

Look under the itemized charges on the right side of your booking confirmation. Mine says: Cheers is included in your offer.

I would not go on the Sunrise again due to all of the overcrowding points made in the previous posts.

Lol Melissa, it's an awesome coincidence that we're in the exact same cabin right after you. It still has that New Car smell 😉 hope you enjoyed it as much as we are...
We loved this cabin! Say "hello" to Larsen the cabin steward for me. He's a fantastic steward.

I didn't notice any gelato station. We had the New American Brunch and the updated deli menu.

If the third passenger in a fully-paid cabin is a no-show, does it make a difference if you communicate this at the port during check-in vs. doing it on the ship?

Hi Abby,
I'm on the 4/23 and 4/30 sailings.:)
-
Today's price is $464 per person for the interior guarantee cabin.
-
The price I have listed is for the whole cabin. Depending on where you're looking, you may pulling up the per person cost if you have 2 in the cabin.
-
New sale started today, I'm showing $908 (int), $1118 (ov), $1458 (bal), and $2188 (ste) for the 4/30 Splendor (solo). You're welcome for the tip!
-
Current past guest prices for the 4/23 sailing are $1098 interior, $1218 OV, and $1608 balcony. The 4/30 sailing is $908, $1098, and $1378.

Carnival Splendor has a lovely thermal suite with a Thelassotherapy pool. I booked a reasonable back-to-back Eastern/Western Caribbean trip from Miami. Sailing dates are 4/23 and 4/30.
-
Subscribing since I'm booked for a cruise on the Splendor in April.
Thanks!

I just booked this for $106 per night at the end of April through Booking.com:
Rodeway Inn & Suites Fort Lauderdale Airport & Cruise Port. It was recently renovated, has OK reviews, and has a free airport shuttle.
SAS will pick me up at the hotel for the transfer to the port in Miami.

Another vote for the Maxwell. I was there with my two young-adult daughters last week and we loved it.

Oh, I will still have a great time, you're right. I just don't enjoy surprises like that. I'd rather just pay $18 per coffee mug as opposed to paying $15 plus a mandatory $3.00 service fee that wasn't disclosed until the item was already purchased. 🙂
