Funny you should say that, after almost 6 months I still use the wrong stick every time I start the car up again.  Just returned home from an appt a couple of kilometres away and I twice tried to wipe the non-existent rain off the windscreen when turning.

I read that MGs are designed in Europe so I guess that explains the difference in position. My husband's Renault is the same.

When I have a choice, I always buy a manual. Have had a couple of used cars that were auto, but I always go back to manual when I buy new. Current car is a manual Mazda 3 and I'm very happy with it. In some ways manual cars deter thieves. I read a lot of news stories where low lives have tried to steal/hijack a car only to discover it was a manual and they had no idea how to drive it.😆

I have only made the change due to a bad shoulder although I understand that not too many manual cars will be made in the future.

We traded in our Ford Territory on an MG ZS and I can't speak highly enough of this little car.  Our Territory was a brilliant vehicle for us when we bought it travelling to Perth several times a month, driving interstate and just generally doing quite a few kms a year (+20 000).  In the 9 years we had it the only thing we ever replaced were tyres and a battery.  Fantastic!  However, she was getting long in the tooth and since buying our motorhome during the dreaded COVID years we were doing less than 2000 kms a year - time to trade.  The MG is basically a shopping trolley, it goes locally to the shops and back, to the Drs on occasion and that's about it.  The only time it will go further is when we travel overseas and leave it at the airport.  Still it was a magic price and with 7 years warranty and capped servicing, we're pretty damn happy.  Just sharing.....

I bought a MG 3 earlier this year, smaller than your ZS but suitable for the driving I do. We have had a few longish trips down the south west coast and it has driven very well. My previous car was also nine years old and we only had to replace the battery and tyres on it. It was still running really well but was manual and with a crook left shoulder I need to drive an auto. My husband traded in his ute, no need for it now and bought a Renault Clio, another small car. I am very happy with my MG3.

I flew into SYD from the US in early April and spent about 10 days in Uluru and Cairns prior to boarding my cruise. I also have several prescription medications, but never had to show any of the medication or prescriptions going through customs or immigration. I would advise you to read the carry on requirements for domestic flights, however.  I was quite surprised to read what is considered a “liquid” and although there is no quantity restriction on domestic flights, there seems to be a requirement for a “clear” bag for such items and medications.

There is no limit on the amount of liquids, gels or powders on domestic flights in your carry on luggage and no requirement for those containers to be in a clear bag either unless you are leaving from an international terminal on a domestic flight which your ticket will specify. What Can You Bring on a Plane?

We are doing 3 B2B cruises as well as spending 10 days traveling in Australia before boarding our ship. We are both on several different prescription medications. I know going through customs when we land in Sydney can be difficult and want to be sure we're doing everything correctly as it applies to bringing in our medicines.

We will have everything in a bag or bottle with a pharmacy label but is this enough? Do I need to get a paper Rx for each prescription from my Dr. to carry on with us?

    Thanks for the help!!

Why do you think going through customs in Sydney can be difficult? As long as your medications are in their original packaging, you should be fine. We also always carry a printed list of prescribed medications that our doctor provides for us. You don't need a copy of the prescription. This link may help -

    Travelling into Australia with Medications.

Don't forget to carry them in your carry on luggage.

This link may help with what Free2bMeForeve mentioned in their post above -

    Powders, Liquids, Aerosols and Gels

If you'd actually read of peoples situations in Vanuatu right now, it's not paradise and most Aussies are still stuck there with no assistance from Australia. The couple we know, one has to line up at 7am everyday to join the queue when the bakery opens to get their rationed two baguettes and if lucky a pastry while the wife lines up at the supermarket for very basic and rationed food stuff. They don't have access to cooking facilities.  Their hotel has pretty much run out of food. The hotel staff can't come in and out anymore but there are some who are stuck there and can't leave. So there's no linen service, Food service etc etc. They are also curfew room bound from 6pm until sunrise. They don't know when they can return to get back to work. This is not paradise.

Are you talking about Vanuatu or New Caledonia where there have been riots? Smart Traveller up to date as of this morning, is not mentioning anything like you have described for Vanuatu but is for New Caledonia, in particular for Noumea.

Whenever the topic of the new Brisbane Cruise Terminal is raised it is something of a bugbear. A lot of people are upset because the old terminal at Portside was so convenient and well supplied with public transport. Others will point out that with ships now getting bigger than Majestic Princess, there are almost no cruise ships left in Australia which can travel upriver and actually reach the old terminal.

So the new terminal gets so much criticism that we Brisbanites get a little defensive about it, because it's at the only place it could be and still receive modern cruise ships. But people call it ugly and in the middle of nowhere, which some of us think is a bit unfair given the alternatives.

And I'm not even a Brisbanite, and loved sailing from Portside but realise that where the new terminal is situated is the only alternative.

    My azaleas are flowering now?

    Google says

"They are at their peak from late winter to spring when they are in full bloom. Azaleas flower generously and many varieties also bloom at other times of the year, a habit called 'spot flowering'."

I have a white azalea which flowers nearly all year round. It is full of flowers at the moment.

Interesting to see how Princess is getting the blame for the Darwin dock change. Local port authorities have a big say in where ships dock and I doubt they would arbitrarily allow a cruise ship to choose to dock in a working port unless there was no alternative.

Was any reason given for the change to the Darwin dock?

I agree Julie. A forty five minute trip each way sounds over the top too. It is only 21.7 km from the East Arm Wharf to the CBD. Must have been very slow shuttles.

Hi.  We will be taking a Celebrity Cruise in March 2025 and starting to look at fights.  Our best option is an 11:15 am flight from Sydney and we wanted to see if we could make it.  It is helps, we will get a car service from the cruise terminal to airport and have top flying status with American. We will not carry off our luggage.  Many thanks and appreciate thoughts.

If all goes well and you dock on time, it is likely you could make your flight. But if you are late in, there is every possibility you could miss it. For domestic flights, we always book them for afternoons. We have been late into Sydney and were very glad our flight was late afternoon. As for international flights, there is no way I would schedule a flight in the morning. Sydney airport recommends arriving three hours before your flight is due to leave, which would mean you would need to be at the airport by 8.15am.

Prepare for Flight from Sydney Airport

I will be flying home to Orlando after a 28-day round Australia cruise on Crown Princess in April 2025. We are scheduled to arrive at 6am. I will be flying on United using miles for a 1st/Business class seat. My only options are 9:20am or 10:30 am departures.

I always book afternoon flights, especially when flying international. Does anyone have a good feeling about this situation short of my spending another night in Sydney? I will have splurged on 4 days there pre-cruise (already pre-paid, so that’s not negotiable).

I agree with Cbtours - we too only book flights for the afternoon, even domestic. We have been delayed arriving in Sydney. We smugly enjoyed breakfast and relaxed until we could disembark as we knew we didn't have to worry about our flight back to Melbourne.

Might sound a bit harsh, but on our last 3 P&O cruises had to ask to have our table in dining room changed on at least one night on each cruise.  couldn’t hear above the yelling and insane screeching from well lubricated fellow diners.

Will continue to cruise with them, because they are cheap and we can drive to port, but the demographic is going downhill fast.

We have had the same happen on a Princess cruise - a large group seated nearby, sounded as if they had started drinking at breakfast. The noise - the overtop loud voices, screeching and one woman's ridiculous laughter was terrible and disruptive to enjoying our dinner plus everyone seated nearby too would not have enjoyed it. We decided to eat slightly later and only came across them once more. Fortunately they were finishing and left the dining room not long after. We did see them in a bar later when we went for an after dinner drink, so found somewhere else to have that drink.

    Thanks Leigh,

Good win and keeps the Swans in first place all by themselves on 32 points as Geelong lost to Port Adelaide last night in the early game.

We watched the Geelong v Port game which ended up being a cracker, very much like the Melbourne v Carlton game on Thursday night.

Swans are playing well and deserve to be on top of the ladder.
