  1. I love the fact that Carnival grants the next status at the beginning of your cruise.  We were on the last Med cruise and the Transatlantic on the Vista in October, 2016. We didn't officially turn Platinum until a few days into the second cruise. Because our bookings were linked, we were Platinum from the day we boarded, which was greatly appreciated for the free laundry service!

Someone posted on the Oceania board that BA has some good prices for next year.  Does anyone have any input regarding BA's first and business class?  Looks like the long haul flights would be in either a 777 or 747 from JFK to LHR (although ORD and PHL are also coming up as options, depending on the dates we travel, and possibly which class we select).  It looks like both classes are flatbed seats, but first is better quality, based on the website.  I think lounge access is different, but that likely won't matter for us.  The price differential is about $400 PP.

Our only business class travel experience is in United Polaris, so that's our reference point.  If BA business is similar to that, we'd be fine.

We've only flown DEN-LHR on the 747, and we weren't overly impressed. Yes, the seats were lie flat, but not particularly comfortable. It was extremely awkward trying to balance while climbing over another seat when exiting your seat, and juggling a dinner tray over the window and across another passenger was a little dicey, especially with drinks on the tray.

  3. Well, we downloaded the new Medallion App, and everything seems to have transferred over just fine.  Except, now we both have an orange exclamation point next to our picture, as well as one on our Travel Documents  circle.  When I tap on the circle, it just says to bring our travel documents with us to the port. Our passports are scanned and showing up on Travel Documents, so not sure what else we can do to get the little exclamation point to go away!

  4. Unfortunately, just as your cruise fare was probably higher, so are air fares during the holidays. For our New Year's cruise this past December, United was actually cheaper than Southwest, and we still paid over $600 per ticket. I booked our flights in June, and prices only went up as availability went down. I would not wait to book your flights.

Everything that you pre-purchase must be charged to your credit card, debit card or gift card. These purchases cannot be applied to OBC, which stands for “onboard credit.”  OBC can only be used for onboard purchases, which is why it’s referred to as such.

I really wish that Carnival would let you use OBC to pre-purchase like Princess does. We have $1250.00 in OBC for our upcoming Princess cruise, and have used our OBC to pre-purchase everything from water to excursions.

  6. We received an email stating we could book using a special early offer under our VIFP numbers. We're booked on the 9 day out of Copenhagen, followed by the 15 day TA.  We booked using the link provided in the email, and was shocked that entire decks were already sold out. We couldn't book the same room for  both voyages, hopefully, we can get that changed between now and then.

  7. Pay balance due and leave friend on and not checked in. Can be a no-show if sailing solo. Or, if friend changes mind and can go, it's all set. If another person commits to go, then call Carnival and inquire about a name change but no point in doing it now to TBA.

Thank you, I'll pass this on to her!

  8. My daughter booked a December cruise with a friend, and now the friend can't go. Daughter is the primary, and the cruise was booked under Past Guest Rate. Daughter has a Spa balcony cabin, and doesn't want to give it up, so is willing to pay the balance due next month when final payment is due. What would be the best way to go about this? Leave friend on booking, and don't complete online check-in for her? Can she change the second person to TBA now, and add someone later if they can go? Thanks in advance.

  9. Going on a family cruise, and daughter and friend booked a cabin under Past Guest Rate. My daughter is the primary on the booking, but the friend can't go now. Final payment is due in a month, and daughter is looking for someone to join her, can she take the friend off, and change the second passenger to TBA? If that's allowed, can she go ahead and make the final payment for both passengers without naming the second passenger? And, if that's allowed, what's the latest you can add a passenger to the booking before sailing? Thanks in advance for any insight.

  10. Are you referring to the Gold appreciation drink on the last night of the cruise? That's different from the Platinum/Diamond drink at breakfast/brunch/lunch in the MDR.

Sent from my SM-J727P using Forums mobile app

I don't understand why they limit the Platinum coupon to daytime only in the MDR, and the Gold coupon can be redeemed anywhere the last evening. Because we generally don't drink before 1 pm, we've not used ours.

  11. This is a really nice perk that Carnival offers. We were on the Vista back to back for 23 days in 2016 (10 day med cruise and 13 day transatlantic), and we didn't turn Platinum until halfway into our second leg. We were granted Platinum status the day we boarded for the first leg. This was much appreciated, especially for the laundry service, as we had been traveling around Europe the week before we boarded.

  12. My advice is to roll your clothes before putting them in the bag, as you can fit more in that way. And the bag doesn't have to close, just make sure things are packed in there snugly. Also, fill out the name/cabin info on the bag before filling it. P.S., those paper bags rip easily!

  13. Hello all!!!! Can anyone tell me if the Serenity area on the Sunshine is still adults only? We were told on our last Vista cruise that Carnival was going to be getting away with adult only areas.

    Thanks a lot in advance

    Heimey

Curious as to who told you Carnival was doing away with adults only Serenity? Was it another passenger, or a crew member?

  14. Now I'm going to be "that person" - I know that sharing is not allowed. But honestly, how often is the package taken away from someone? I mean, if my husband gets our 6 year old the occasional milkshake or virgin drink (and I mean occasional, not regular), is he going to lose his package?

From what I understand, as long as you're not obvious about it (ordering a shake and immediately turning and handing it to your child), you should be okay. Just leave the counter and walk away from the area a bit before giving it to them. The 5 minute rule between Cheers orders still applies, regardless of whether it's alcohol, bottled water, shake, coffee, etc.

  15. Very safe assumption since there are only two stations with 8 seats each and 3 sittings per night @ 530, 715 and 900. So only 48 people each evening can partake. Great move locking in your reservation. Now all you need to do is figure out which 4 people in your group are at table 2 with 4 strangers. ;)

We're putting 6 at each station, so it should be fun! They must be nearly fully booked already for our cruise 9 months from now, as the only time available was the

    last night.
