  1. Prepaid our grats for our November ‘24 cruise a while ago, I wonder what happens with that.
  2. Yeah not sure inflatables or noodles are ok. I have never seen anyone using them on any cruiseline tbh.
  3. I can almost guarantee you are going to float around very happily - no need for a float, it’s salt water and for some reason (I think ladies have a different centre of gravity) the ladies all happily floated around and the chaps had a more difficult time just floating. You will be fine - one of my favourite things to do onboard is an afternoon float 🙂
  4. The IC is so close to the port … it’s not an expensive cab to the port and very easy to get one. I don’t think I would ever use a transfer to get to the port from there.
  5. Honestly the rote reading of Currents needs to stop. It’s ridiculous.
  6. I find O to be above Celebrity, in terms of size and ambience and certainly food. We left Celebrity because it was too busy and the food ceased to be of a tolerable quality. O was a breath of fresh air for us. It’s comfortable for me. It’s not perfect. If you believe the marketing and expect it to be of the same idyllic level as the pics you are going to be disappointed. Due diligence is your friend. Off on a Regent cruise next month, one of the smaller ships, I shall be able to get a good comparison between luxury and premium.
  7. When dealing with anything to do with a country state I always find information via the government website or use information from my own country’s guidance website.
  8. I always take our own travel cups. There’s nothing that brings more brownie points than a cuppa delivered to your SO first thing in the morning 🙂 Also i like to have a first cuppa with first breakfast before I take him his cuppa and we can then go to second breakfast (for me!!). well, I do live in The Shire..
  9. What would you have liked to have happened? If you do rebook for a different cruise, you should ask for any benefits you accrued to be transferred to the new booking. I think a year out is enough notice, but I can understand it would be disappointing.
  10. Thanks for this info, we are on the Cape Town to Rio in Jan so this is very useful!
  11. We are doing the winelands I believe - thank you! the transfer info is useful - I signed up for the loyalty card for the hotel so we can get a discount on the food/bevs. Thank you!
  12. Hi there all you lovely experienced Regent cruisers! Just a quick question about the included transfer from the airport. We arrive early morning, as I expect most people will be. As we are doing the pre cruise tour we arrive a few days early - same as everyone else doing that tour. I have been a bit proactive and booked the night before we arrive so we can check in straight away at the hotel (husband can be grumpy post flight), are we going to have to wait for a coach full of fellow guests before we leave for the hotel, or is the transport more like people carriers or minivans? If we are going to have to wait for a lot of people, I may let the rep know we are just going to get ourselves to the hotel. The hotel will be the Southern Sun Cullinan. Seen some gripes about it, but not really bothered, it won’t be cold and wet UK in January! Experiences please?
  13. Glad you are having a good time! I know you had done some very thorough research before this cruise, and had a good idea what to expect. What has surprised you? There is a certain ambience on O which is hard to quantify, and I feel you have to be in it to understand it, and no matter how much you think you understand O before you go, unless you have experienced O you don’t “get it” til you are onboard. Speaking to the a senior member of crew one evening on Sirena I asked her what she thought it was…she said it’s the crew - I tend to agree. It is a very beautiful package that all fits together well to make a great product. Not without crinkles in the packaging, that can happen anywhere of course.
  14. That’s just a bonus imo!
  15. Shhh don’t tell everyone about 8000 😉
  16. When the buns are properly prepared they are a thing of beauty. My last experience on Riviera was a bit of a sad sack with regard to them but I live in hope!
  17. If I may suggest the hot buns at The Terrace when you have breakfast - I am hoping for the sublime experience for you I usually have with them. The sense memory of those things kept me going during lockdowns.
  18. Keep spreading your distaste of the R class those who dislike it … means more bookable space while we can for those of us who like it 😄 I will mourn the eventual loss of the R class ships. I am happy on the O class and have yet to try an A class trip. For me, a TA in 8000 on an R class is perfection 🙂 (cheaper than normal itins as well 😉 )
  19. My first embarkation on an Oceania ship was in Athens. It was a very good start to the cruise and a breath of fresh air from what I had experienced on other lines. Nice small terminal, very quick, a lovely little walk to the ship. Enjoy embarkation 🙂
  20. I do wonder if that is because Azamara only has R class ships. Either way due diligence will give anyone an idea if their desired cabin on an R class ship will be suitable for them. I am very happy in a PH on an R class. I am very happy in a standard verandah (or even an ocean view) on an O class.
  21. Well I actually meant I wonder how the staff will deal with people who are essentially off plan 😉
  22. Are there socket points near the bedside tables on deluxe verandah cabins on Voyager? Asking for my cpap machine..
  23. It will be interesting to see what happens when non SM are the minority guests on a cruise. We are next on an O ship in November 2024, and booked before SM came out and it makes no sense for us to change to SM.
  24. You won’t need to eat in the specialities every night, the GDR and buffet restaurant are a huge step up from what you will be used to 🙂
