  1. I really like the late booking deals, a few weeks before sailing, which were around this year for the start of the season in Alaska,

No OBC, no free anything just a cost per 7 days of as little as $299 plus taxes.

May happen next year, may be not, who knows?

I did 4 x B2B like that several years ago roundtrip Vancouver for the same cost but at the end of the season, it was good.

I’ve never seen 7 days for $299- where do you see these?

  2. We’ve done one Disney cruise- it was a VGT on the Fantasy- even at that rate it was still double the cost of our cruise on RCL’s Oasis.

While we LOVED the cruise (we try to go to Disney as much as we can although are from BC Canada) I doubt we will cruise Disney again as we’d rather do more cruises are say a week at Disney and a cruise

  3. Breakfast is usually 6:30 to 8:30 in the MDR but doors will close when the room reaches capacity, which could be before 8:00.

Buffet will be serving breakfast until around 9:30.

You are generally expected to be out of your cabin by 8:00.

But there is no such thing as "typical disembarking". Case in point: the response above was geared for US citizens disembarking a round trip USA cruise. According to what I could piece together from the extraneous information on your Cruise Critic member account, you are a Canadian citizen disembarking Emerald Princess in Los Angeles from a repositioning cruise you will embark in Vancouver. As the only intermediate port call is in the USA (Astoria) you will very likely--though not guaranteed--be processed by US immigration as entering the USA as you board at Canada Place. If this occurs there will be no immigration or customs inspection at the pier in San Pedro.

Since this is only a four night cruise Princess will assume the vast majority of passengers will do self-carry disembarkation rather than claim their bags in the terminal. If you wish your bags to be picked up the night before and be placed in the terminal be sure to indicate so on the disembarkation questionnaire you will find in your cabin, so the correct luggage tags can be delivered to you.

If I have erred in picking out this cruise from your signature and you are asking about a different ship/itinerary/disembarkation port please be kind enough to clarify in response.

You are correct- just doing a short 4 day Vancouver to LA :)

We plan to only have carry ons so will probably just self carry.

Thanks for the info re the MDR - we will aim to be in before 8 :)

  4. Thanks so much for your review.

My husband and I are sailing on our first Princess cruise in Oct, just a short 4 day on Emerald from Vancouver to LA. We picked this cruise because

    A. It sailed out of Vancouver and we can drive to Vancouver, visit some family and then head to the port

    B. It is super cheap...

    C. This is our first time away from our 2 year old and it's a short cruise with minimal travel time

We are 36 and 38- our cruising history is 2 cruises on RCCL and 1 Disney and 1 on HAL to Alaska last year. We are expecting this cruise to be a lot like HAL..ie we don't expect much for night life, plan to just enjoy pool/deck time, each other's company and the port day in Astoria...hopefully we will be pleasantly surprised. Although we love the pzazz of the big ships, we are just happy to get away, and the date worked and the price was too good to pass up :)
