  1. Just some thoughts for visitors. Yellow cabs are mostly everywhere in Manhattan except during rush hours. The use of Uber, etc. has made them a bit more available. If you find visiting a location is somewhat exhausting take a cab to your next stop or hotel.

I was looking at this and wondering how convenient and affordable cabs are. I'm walking stick disabled so don't want to try and walk too far if I can avoid it. We are being put in Le Parker Meridian on 56 or 57th St. Our departure is June 2018 so time to plan but I'm guessing we will be content seeing a Broadway show and or Radio City Music Hall.

  2. Hi Gary,

I have many pre-existing conditions and I have used All Clear and Avanti for the last few years. I usually buy an annual policy as it works out cheaper in the log run.

    Anyway good luck

    Andy

Thanks Andy but I had already found a reasonably priced one through one of these compare sites. The main criteria was the £10k each cancellation cover.

  3. I believe they no longer do that. It's now easy as pie, and done routinely if you ask.

so are you saying that if I book a Regents Choice Excursion from home presumably with my Credit Card all I need to do is go to the desk on board and they will cancel the card charge and put it against my OBC?

  4. With all due respect, TC, all of us, including Regent can strive for improvement. Please stop suggesting that we move along to another cruise line if we have suggestions that enhances our cruise experience.

I'm not a cocktail drinker (not much of a drinker at all really ;p ) but would like to add my two penneth worth if I may. Regent advertises itself as a 6 Star all inclusive Luxury Cruise Line and charges top dollar for the privilege. As far as I am concerned using packs of mixes as either a short cut or a cost cutting exercise belittles the ships good name and lets us passengers down who one way or another have paid good money for a 6 star experience. I also would not expect in anyway it should have any impact on the price of the cruise.

  5. Yes that's exactly why. I'd read on here about aft vibration and so I walked round the decks the first time I was on Navigator. I think anything aft of the lifts at the back has too much vibration for me. An H guarantee should be OK as they are at the front, but you could get an upgrade to a different category. We liked Navigator very much though and I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time.

off topic a bit but what is it like the other (bow) end of the ship? We will be in 902 next year and it bit wary as it isn't mid ship. There was nothing left so we had no choice :( . Apart from the possible bumpy ride I am concerned as to the length of the corridor to the lifts. I'm hoping it is a reasonably small corridor as I am walking stick disabled and am a bit worried about it.

  6. Gary, We have stayed there several times for weekend stays. It's an SPG property. The location is great. The rooms are small like many in New York, its very busy. There is a burger take out place next to the lobby so there are lines for the burger place in the lobby. The restaurant Norma's offer humongous breakfasts that is an experience, just bring a lot of money :). It is not a luxury hotel (eg. Ritz Carlton, St. Regis, etc) For one night I would have no hesitation staying there.

    thanks taxare :D

  7. I just looked up past excursions for a port (by selecting "Find a Cruise" and then selecting a port.) All excursions were listed. In terms of excursions for the past cruise, Regent has been a bit late in adding available excursions (at the 240 day mark). Our November 17th cruise did not show any excursions for more than one port when bookings opened (two ports were added last week). I'm not sure if you are asking about changes to current or past bookings. We do not see any change on the website from the way it was previously and how it is now.

Wow Jackie I had no idea I could look at the excursions on offer from a past cruise. As a newbie to Regent this is just what I have been looking for. - thanks :D

Edited to add - if there is a 'How to' section somewhere this should be added to it.

  8. So far, there are no cocktails offered during the day, this morning we sat on the pool deck with 6 other people, we were not asked did we want a drink for 2 hours, so it was off to the bar myself to get our drinks, however this has not detracted from our cruise, I do not expect to be waited upon hand and foot.

Several other guests have commented on the "slow" bar service.

For the price of the Regent cruise I think I do LOL. I must say my upcoming cruise in 2018 will be my first.

  9. Garyb, your Exec club number could be attached to your booking - we quote ours when we book but I'm sure that your travel agent can attach the details at some point, or you could probably do so yourself by contacting BA Exec club on the phone using the number on your card (which we have found to be the easiest/most successful way of getting something done). Good to have that number on the booking before you get there - who knows, there might be upgrades available and some seats (particularly upstairs on a 747) are prioritised for Exec club members, too.

Gilly, Thanks for the advice - I have just given my details to my TA.

  10. Again, it may be different in the U.K. but our cruises are never paid in full 270 days in advance of sailing and I suspect that this is the case with most cruisers. We book almost all of our flights through Regent (using deviation), and always receive our Booking Reference immediately. For some reason, BA is one of the easiest airlines to change seats online. One airline (think that it is Air Canada), we have to call them to change seats.

This bit isn't necessarily Regent. My cruise is 20 June 2018 and Regent want payment in full by 23 of March, HOWEVER my TA is asking for Final Payment 17 January. I have yet to query them as to why but...

as an aside can I give my Executive Club number at the airport and get my AVIOS points?

  11. flossie, I think that it bears repeating that Regent bookings in the U.K. do not include assigned seats. One off the reason that we prefer booking BA thorough Regent (in the U.S.) is that owe get assigned seats. We promptly go into the BA website and change the seat to whatever is available (even the pricier seats upstairs).

    .

I was under the impression that the same applies to us in the UK just like a scheduled booking once confirmed.

  12. OK - this thread is starting to concern me as I only convinced my wife (who hates flying) that we are promised Business Class Flights which should be a lot better for her. Has anyone in a PH or above suite ever been put in economy because there were no Business Class Flights available? I have been assured by multiple TA's that it will be ok but I haven't seen anything in writing as of yet, just a Regent disclaimer which I was assured was Regent just covering themselves.

  13. Just an aside - really puzzled by Regent's flight arrangements/contract process. Less than 11 months from our HK - Bangkok cruise yet they can't provide access to business class flights with BA on the day we need to go. As they also have not yet got a contract with Cathay Pacific for April 2018 that is not an option.

Consequently, we are now having to book an extra night in HK - because they can access business class the day before ( and the day after!) we need to travel. It is just bizarre tbh.

I would be tempted to phone BA myself to confirm that. I too find it really hard to believe.
