  1. Thanks teamflames for the info - a bit alarming but hope we will cope with it in the North Atlantic. The Navigator will be the biggest ship we've ever been on so maybe we won't notice it that much.

It isn't the longest I have been on (only my second ship) but we too are sailing the North Atlantic on the Navigator in 2018. We are in PH 902 near the bow of the ship. I must admit the vibration coupled with the North Atlantic does concern me a bit.

  2. Best not to ignore previous posts, there could be some wisdom!

As for pre and post refurbishment not that much change - they even managed to keep the stains on the carpets from when were last on-board!

A tip - there is a good USB charging point, for phones and tablets etc, hidden in all the ships now (I know the explorer has dedicated ones) - It's on the back of the Samsung TV!!

didn't realize you can charge from the tv

  3. Wondering how to get waitlisted for a better suite?

We are offered suite 968.....but now thinking an assigned cabin might be even noisier if under pool area.

I talked to my TA who in turn phoned Regent and I have been 'wait listed' on the Navigator.

  4. I've never tried Cherry Coke Zero and didn't even know it existed. Diet Dr. Pepper has a cherry flavor also which is why I said it is somewhat similar. :) Give Diet Dr. Pepper a try and see what you think.

Saw Vanilla Coke Zero in the shops but haven't tried it. Pepsi Max do a cherry version that I really like too.

  5. You will only be able to pre-order via your website account if you are booked in a Penthouse or above; in this case you will see a 'Butler Request Form'.

If you are in a suite without a Butler just let your Steward/Stewardess know your requirements when you board.

I hate asking this as it is pretty much a 'Booze Cruz' but are you limited to the offerings on the Butler Request Form? I am rather partial to Coke Zero + Cherry Coke Zero but they only offered Coke or Diet Coke. Also no Stella Artois? - scandalous.

  6. seriously? I'm new to Regent as well and what you just said is the complete opposite of what I am expecting. I'm also booked on the Navigator next year and glad to hear you love the ship and the food.

  7. Gary and Anne, Greenland will be quite a bit cooler. Iceland could be quite wet.

Key for you is to layer clothing and yes to have waterproof gear.

    Keith

Thanks Keith - looks like this isn't your first rodeo ...LOL. Was looking at the June temperatures in Greenland and was colder than I expected that time of year. Iceland isn't much warmer either. My main concern is the small ship (Navigator) up in those ruff North Atlantic Seas.

  8. I'm watching this thread with interest as I'm going to Greenland and Iceland June 2018. I would imagine your Alaskan cruise would be very similar. As I have some USA + Canada to pack for as well it should be very interesting.

  9. Blame the search engine!

    In this post;

    is:

    Electrical

The main domestic power distribution is 230V ac using Schuko sockets, i.e. Type F. In the cabins in

addition to at least two of the above are at least two 110V ac US style two flat prong sockets, i.e.

Type B. There is also an Italian 230V ac socket of the 10 amp variety (Type L). As the 110V USA

sockets are mounted very close to a Schuko or Italian socket it is generally not possible to use 110V

sockets at the same time as the adjacent 230V socket as they physically foul each other.

There is also a 110/230V switchable shaver socket in the bathroom but this will not accept UK style

shaver plugs, i.e. it is not a BS4573 socket. An adaptor to a European sized socket is required.

I had spotted the posts your referred to but I ignored them as they were pre refurbishment.

    thanks for your reply.

  10. Sorry if I missed this but my search didn't come up with the answer 'm after.

What Power Sockets are there on the Navigator in the Penthouse Suites? Are the sockets US only or are there the UK 3 point ones as well? Is an multi extender strip recommended?

  11. Thanks - I have now found a company called 'TopDog' that offers a £10k per person cancellation. The rates were reasonable too considering my per-existing medical. It doubled it up but still under £600 so went with it rather than leaving myself exposed on the deposit.

  12. Thanks Travelcat for the link. While it did not specifically give guidelines for a reserved limo, it does give some guidelines of about 10% for a reserved taxi for the airport to London ride. Just to clarify we are using a hotel limo service and he/she will be at the custom exit waiting for us. Am I still on track with the 10%?

I would say these days 10% is the norm for tipping in the UK for anything. Some people don't even bother with that as they were brought up in a non tipping environment. I have rarely seen anyone (apart from tourists) tip over 10%.

  13. Have you tried the comparison sites? Insure and go have been good prices for us but today I used a supermarket comparison, it allowed all screening online and it ranged from £130 to £2000 for the same cover. Well worth checking.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

I have thanks. Unfortunately the best cancellation I have seen is £7500. I'm looking for closer to £20K for the two of us.

  14. Don't know about UK, but in the US pre-ex conditions cost the same-you just have to buy the policy some many days after you make your first deposit and some companies let you wait until just before your final payment.

sadly that isn't the case here in the UK :(

    TC - I didn't realize there was a UK board - thanks
