  1. Thanks Gail

I was hoping someone who liked the other arrangement would post so Sascol could have his/her question answered.

Funny how different things matter to different people. Location of bed would never even come into my mind when researching what cabin to pick. For us it's port vs. starboard. On our very 1st cruise we were on the starboard side. 19 cruises later, we've NEVER had a cabin on the port side! I suppose we'd do it if we got some offer we could not pass up though.

  2. We are first time Hawaii cruisers/visitors. There are quite a few excursions available to us through Celebrity and the choices are a bit overwhelming. I have listed our ports below. It would be appreciated if anyone could offer suggestions for excursions in these ports. We are open to excursions on our own as well so if anyone has any thoughts on things to do outside of the cruise line excursions, we'd be interested in your thoughts there too. Our ports are:

    HONOLULU (overnight)

    HILO

    KAILUA KONA

    LAHAINA, MAUI (overnight)

    Thanks in advance!

  3. You know, rules are rules, and I'm not one to try and circumvent them, and we didn't with any of our boys. If there's an age limit, there's a limit, and if people ask if an exception can be made for their child, then why even have a rule? I don't care how well behaved a child is, there needs to be places that an adult can enjoy without kids around. And to those who want a rule exception, you're putting the person who's in charge of the venue in an impossible situation. Do you really think they're going to say no, right to your face? Please, let places like Normandie/Murano/SS United States/Ocean Liners keep their age limit. I mean, it's not as if there aren't other places for your child to eat.

    Score!

  4. We were in port at the start and then started heading out near the end of it. I went straight after the safety drill. The guy explained that on the ship, they use one with a special guard that helps keep it steady.

Interesting. When I went for my shave I asked if he used a straight razor. He laughed and said "hehe, no, not allowed to use on ship".

  5. I DID have a men's cut and shave on Eclipse on April 19, when I boarded for my TA. I got a shave with a straight razor, not a disposable one, from the South African man providing the service.

This was perhaps 2 weeks into Canyon Ranch taking over the salon.

Odd. Was the ship sailing at the tme or was it still in port? I was specifically told straight razors were not allowed (although this was prior to the change to canyon ranch).

  6. Can one get a straight razor shave at the onboard salon/spa?

NO - it is against policy to use a stright razor on a ship....too dangerous. I had a shave last year and they used a 4-bladed razor. The pampering was quite nice (there are about 7 steps involved) but the shave I give myself is much closer than the one I got at the salon.

  7. I really don't want to lose the will to live!

So I am trying to avoid calling Celebrity!

I hoped someone may have a non speculative answer.

Contrary to popular belief us BRITS don't like to queue:D

I must be in the VAST minority here. I have NEVER, EVER had an issue with the Celebrity website nor have I ever had an issue when calling them.

  8. The Martini Bar is an open venue - many walk past, or through on the way to select dining on the starboard side. There are lots of alcoves with nice seating and tables about - I doubt anyone would bat an eye at your family having a pre-dinner drink. Having them take a seat at the actual bar would be in IMHO inconsiderate to other passengers.

    Well stated.

  9. I copied and pasted this from another thread where someone posted all the prices for laundry services.

I don't know what you pay in the UK, but compared to what I pay in NY, these prices arent bad at all.

    Pressing Only

    Item Price

    Suit $5.95

    Jacket $4.95

    Pants $3.95

    Long Sleeved Shirt $3.95

    Short Sleeved Shirt $2.95

    Sweater $3.95

    Shorts $2.95

    Dress $5.95

    Skirt $3.95

I do not find these prices to be reasonable at all. I pay less than that at home to have things cleaned AND pressed.

  10. Just curious as to WHY they have a policy against steamers? They are not a fire hazard like an iron would be and they do not use any more power than a hairdrer or a curling iron. Thoughts?

  11. We have cruised on numerous cruise lines over 35+ years and never had a bad cruise. When possible we select Celebrity because we just feel it is offers the best value, service and ships of all the Mass market lines. I don't why this forum has dramatically changed in the past several months but I am so tired of the "drive-by" reviewers who come on and complain about one or two very minor things and say because of these things they will never cruise X again. And after posting they never come back to respond. Is it just me or does it seem to be an orchestrated effort to paint X in a less than glowing light?

People have WAY too much time on their hands if their sole purpose here is to be involved in an orchestrated effort to slam the cruise line. If someone has an issue and it is important enough to them to post it here, they will. It is not up to any of us to decide if the issue is important enough for them to never sail with Celebrity again.

  12. Are the Aqua Class rooms on Deck 11 on the Millenium different from those on Deck 8 (or is it Deck 9?). I know they were added with the refit.

They are newly added cabins as opposed to refurbished ones but other than that they are the same with the exception of the balcony covering. Deck 11 has little cover while most of deck 9 has a HUGE overhang. We prefer 11 but others may find positives in the ones on 9.

  13. Blu does not do special orders, but they are quite accommodating in mixing and modifying things that are on the menu or on the everyday menu. No different than going to a restaurant at home. If pheasant isn't on the menu, they aren't going to find a pheasant....but if you want the steak blackened instead of with a bernaise sauce, they might be able to do it.

Based on our experience, I would disagree - when we were on the Summit and dined in BLU nightly, my wife had a special order almost every night (initially at the staff's suggestion when she could not decide on a menu item). She got dishes that were not even remotely close to what was on the menu. After the second or third night they actually offered to make her a special meal before she even opened the regular menu.
