  1. I (plus family members) will be in an Owner's Suite. Rest of family will be next door in a Junior Suite. The two reservations are "linked". Food / excursion reservations I make will be for the entire family. Will the rest of the family (in the JS) be able to join the family for meals in Coastal Kitchen???

Unfortunately not. Only GS and above as well as pinnacle members.

  2. We were on the 11/29. Coastal kitchen is great and so is the suite lounge. We ate there most days for breakfast and dinner. You can take drinks out of the lounge. As one other poster mentioned you do receive a zero'd out receipt on the last day for tipping. We left 100$ for the week. Not crowded at all and saw a few diamond members and people staying in JSs who were upset they could not get in, one guy even pulled on the door so hard he broke the lock. Rami said he tried to sneak in every night. The diamond member threw a fit because he wasn't allowed in, it was quite comical.

  3. Cannot wait to see how the new suite lounge on the Oasis splits up the crowd from the old CL.

I am sure it will still be crowded, but we go early and leave early.

I hope someone posts a recent experience.

    Thanks

Suite lounge on oasis is great! We were on the week of 11/29. Not crowded at all and yes you can take beverages out of the lounge. Coastal kitchen is great for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We ate breakfast there everyday. We ate dinner there 4 nights on our cruise and lunch 3 times.

  4. We have 11330 in August. Do you have any photos of your suite ? I think for two of us 11330 will be fine. I think the privacy and large balcony overrides the walk to the stern. I would probably be concerned about deck 14, but I think 11330 will work. Still feel RCI rushed these rooms and will have better balcony furniture and finishes down the road for these suites. Maybe they will have custom sofas and sleepers made to fit these awkward rooms. Gerry

2 people will be fine in 11330. Hopefully it will be complete by the time you sail. You will like the suite lounge and coastal kitchen! I'll try to dig up more pics, these were what I have on my phone.

  5. I have 14730 booked for August. After seeing the reviews I also booked a regular GS just in case I wanted to change. If I were booked in the GS's on deck 11 or 12, I would have changed. I'm holding out though because I want to see the layout of the room on deck 14. One CC'er said that a construction manager told her that room had the best views of them all and that is the one he would choose. I want to see where the floor to ceiling windows are located. Are they in the living room or bedroom. I just don't have enough information yet to cancel. Hopefully those pictures and or video will surface soon!

We looked at the suites on 14 while we were on oasis last week. They are tiny and seemed much smaller than the one we were in(11330) the views weren't much different than ours was as you are jus about 18' higher than deck 11 also you can not fit a lounger on either of the balconies on deck 14. They should have made those suites 1 room instead of 2.

  6. This is where I so agree with you. I have probably spent more $$ on Royal over the years as a D+ that a good % of those people that book suites. Some of them it is their first cruise. I have taken 69 Royal cruises. don't even want to add up the $$ that has generated for Royal. We never do inside, it is always balconies on longer cruises or min OV on a 3 nighter. So yes, lots of money.

But how how many years did it take you to rack up 69 cruises? A cruiser that books suite is more attractive to Royal as it is higher revenues now vs over 20+ years. Let's say you spent on average 2500$ for each of your 69 cruises, that equals 172.5k and it took you 20 years to do so. Suite guests on average spend 3-5x+. So if a suite guest cruises 30 (less than half) times over the same 20 years their contribution to revenue is 225k. Who is the more attractive guest at that point?

  7. Thank you for your reply. How about the bar area compared to the traditional GS? I am leaning to change. We are only two people, my DH and myself. But I am very partial to an open space feeling. Also the constant long walks to everything has to factor in. We stayed in an aft JS on Indy last year and felt the constant long distance was not worth the balcony size. Just our opinion!

There is not a bar area in these cabins and yes there is a long walk to pretty much everything.

  8. I know this has been discussed by many threads in recent weeks and I apologize upfront for this, however, we have one of these new suites booked for my 65th birthday next October and I am getting really nervous about this room. We have cruised in several GSs before and they are really our preferred room. Have also been in JS.and OS but, as I said, really like GS. We have room 12330 booked for this cruise and the way people have posted it seems to have a "tight" feel with the two small rooms. When we booked we thought it would be one large room and, of course, loved the idea of the large balcony. Thinking of changing to a regular GS but would love input from anyone who has seen or cruised in these new rooms. Thank you in advance!

We sailed in 11330 a week ago. The rooms are decent size in 11330 but the higher you go the smaller the rooms get. I know for example in 11330 we had no problem opening the pullout couch, however in the rooms above (12330 & 14330) the couches either had to be moved to open or they didn't open at all. The room is nothing like a traditional GS. In fact they are actually Aqua suites. If you are booking the room for the view you might be ok. We would not book one of these suites again as we too love the traditional GS and could careless about the view of the Aqua theatre. I also would not book more than 2 people in these cabins, maybe 2 adults and a small child. Overall the cabin was ok but the ceilings seemed lower than any other cabin we have ever had on RC. Happy to answer any specific questions if you have any.

  9. Does anyone know if the GS lounge on deck 17 on Oasis has a concierge like the CL used to?

I remember on the Allure the old lounge had two working the lounge.

    Just wondering.

    Sea Ya

Yes. There are 2, Rami and Allan in the suite lounge.

  10. Just about to go on Oasis and I understand there will be major changes.

What specially will I see as a diamond plus member?

Has the fabulous Concierge lounge towering above the boardwalk been replaced?

Is the new suites concierge lounge up in the Viking lounge open to diamond plus?

    Any other information please.

CL is still there but not sure for how long as it is being converted to wonderland. DL is on deck 4 and no only suite and pinnacle allowed in suite lounge and coastal kitchen. We were on oasis last week.

  11. Thanks for that. One of these days I'm going to head over to the digital photography threads and practice.:)

Quantum has GS and Superior GS, the difference being the balcony (and presumably the price - I haven't done a booking to see). RCI can't sell the new cabins as Aquatheatre suites (I think that's what Decks 8-10 are called, not Aquasuites). Better to create a new category than to remove the notation about a single sink in the bathroom - not everybody knows to come to CC and do a search for something that obscure.

They are Aqua Theatre Suites. All the senior staff on the ship told us that is what they have always been. We just sailed in one last week. When we boarded and saw what the actual room looked like we contacted guest services and shared my booking statement which clearly indicated we booked a GS. They were shocked to find out corp were calling these rooms GSs. All you have to do is look at the stateroom plaque by the front door.ImageUploadedByForums1418227285.518707.jpg.78ec97144a208c08bd64c322a8193add.jpg

  12.

Did you tip in CK or is that covered with the gratuities we pay overall?

On the last night we ate there we were handed a zero'd out receipt which was for gratuity. We left 75$ for the week as we ate there 4/7 nights. So no it is not included and neither is the tip for the concierge who we also tipped 100$ for the week

  13. I have this booked in November, but put a traditional GS on hold for the sailing two weeks before....We have 4 sailing, my husband and our two girls, 8 and 11. I kind of like the idea of having a separate room. We have always had one room that we all shared. We have never stayed in a suite. When the beds are out, it is always crowded in the cabin, but that is only at night when we are headed to bed and in the morning before we leave for breakfast. If we stayed in the traditional GS, the living room would be crowded with the sofabed as well right? The regular GS only has one bathroom, and the extra sink won't be that major amenity for us. Can you tell me more about the closets? Do you feel like it is enough storage?

We were in 11330 last week which is the largest of the new cabins. I would not put 4 people in this room. We had 3 and it was tight.

  14. The original Aquatheater suites are more expensive because they sleep up to 6 or 8 in multiple bedrooms and are a lot larger than these GS.

It looks as if even the Deck 11 Grand/Aqua suite doesn't have much shade on th balcony, which would be a deal-breaker for DH. Did they take the last cabins (boardwalk & balcony) to make these suites and then take some of the balcony space as well? The balcony looks nothing like the deck plans - no room for a table & chairs as other full suites have.

If the price of a CLS comes down, we'll move to one - we are doing a B2B with the first leg in the CLS but originally booked a GS on Deck 11 on the second leg (1) to save money and (2) to be near the current CL, which will likely be just a fond memory by the time we sail in 2016. We'll wait to see more pictures before we decide to keep this cabin or move back to a traditional GS. Maybe even a JS, if there's a hump one available.

You don't have access to the CL anymore on deck 11. Just the suite lounge on deck 17 unless you are diamond and above. We were just on oasis last week in 11330. There is shade on either side of the balcony.

  15. From what I understand, AS are more than a GS.

So, if these aft suites are being considered as Aqua Suites then they would be more expensive.

I am pleased with what I paid for my aft GS 11730.

You can't compare a traditional AQ and new rooms by price. AQ is 2 bedrooms and a huge balcony on more desirable floors.

  16. I understand that. However we just sailed in 11330 and from what I was told by senior officers on the ship is that the crew does and has always identified these rooms as Aqua suites. Corporate on the other hand decided to list the as a grand suite. There was a plaque on the door of 11330 that said "330 Aqua Suite". I even pulled up my booking (which was for a GS) to share with the officers on the ship and they were confused as well why corp was selling these as a GS.

So if they are saying a "Aqua Suite", did you still have the "gold" seapass card?

    Karen

Yes and everything that comes with it. We liked the suite lounge and coastal kitchen.

  17. I am hearing that the sofa bed in 12330 has to be moved in front of the balcony door to be opened. Is it the same in 11330? Thanks for helping us all make a better decision on whether the room is right for us with such helpful information. Sorry that you had to suffer through the "not really ready" blues.

The sofa bed in 11330 can be fully opened without moving the couch

  18. Even a mock booking for a GS shows 11330, 11730, 12330, 12730, 14330 & 14730 as Grand suites.

  19. So everyone knows, these new rooms are NOT grand suites. They are Aqua Suites. I meant to take a picture of the stateroom number plaque next to the cabin door but forgot before we left the ship. The plaque says "330 Aqua Suite" also all of the staff on board said the same including the hotel manager, guest services and the concierge and his boss.

  20.

Thank you for all of your information. Do you think a family of 4 consisting of two adults, one 4 year old and one 10 month old baby would fit okay?

Sure if the baby is in a pack n play in your bedroom. Are you ok having your kids sleep in a separate room with balcony access? We were not and either my wife or I slept with our son each night or he slept with us. That is why we usually book a "normal" GS so there is just a curtain between the pullout and bed not a long hallway and doorway.
