  1. Ye who lack the experience of finding otu one day that they are Parrotheads....have faith your day will come!

As for Falmouth....love those reviews that say it stinks! We have been there several times, last time found a truly wonderful little beach 15 minutes away. The Jerk Chicken was truly a religious experience.

So remember, when one person trashes a port, any port, take the comment witha grain of salt...salt, where's the d*** salt, sorry had to slip in a little Jimmy B. The odds are they got off the ship, walked around for 30 minutes, then ran back to the ship to hide in their cabin.

One other time, we made best friends for the day with a guy selling red label, sat and listened to reggie for an afternoon....one particular harbor...darn, I did it again!

THANK YOU! I always wish the posters perpetuating the danger myths would provide the deets of their brushes with danger.

Or, choose their words more carefully, as in "Falmouth is out of MY comfort zone. Your experience will depend on your own comfort zone."

We loved our day at the free local Burwood Beach after walking into town to stock up on our own drinks and snacks at a local grocery where everyone was very happy to help.

  2. I suppose you're correct. I'll settle for 150 Central Park. ( Wow, I just realized how annoying and cocky that sounded.) And the reason I wish to spend time in more civilized areas, is due to the fact around 75% of my school is unbelievably rude, annoying, and childish. They literally were CHEWING marijuana in class. I hope you get the picture. But I wish you happy cruises in the future!

I am a single mom of 3 teens. I get it. Really, I do. :( I also know that despite my children's claims that "everybody" is doing this or has that, it's simply not true. And if 75% are undesirable, stick with the unpopular minority. It's really okay to do that, too! :)

  3. That answer doesn't really make sense since I said adult activities, where Im surrounded by other teens who frankly don't necessarily portray adult qualities. I hope Im not sounding rude, I don't intend to be.

Why the rush to grow up? You do not get the teen years back as a do over. You sound like a great young person, so accept that you will have to wait a few more years to experience adult only venues. I hope that gives you much to look forward to in life. As another poster pointed out, you are likely expecting a parent to pay for your experience. Sometimes, when we wait and treat ourselves to an indulgence as a paying adult, it makes the experience and financial achievement even sweeter. You'll understand this better as you mature.

I am quite certain that there are other teen cruise enthusiasts onboard. Seek their company. You might have a better time with them than you think.

Last, don't talk back to your elders! Bad manners!:D

  4. I am hoping it's the perfect inside cabin. Have it booked for Oct. 5!

Cruised in May in 12327. We hardly used our Boardwalk Balcony while we practically lived on the public aft balcony. Great view of the wake and the AT shows. Too high to hear movie dialogue though. Watched NBA playoffs just fine from there. Hardly anyone else used it except for the AT shows.

Will be my first time in an inside and booked because of that balcony being right outside.

  5. Once a Pittsburgher, always a Pittsburgher. I also left in 1966 and moved back in 2007.

I also think a Steeler Nation cruise with normal prices is a great idea. I live within walking distance to Steeler Training Camp, and I always see license plates from all over the country & Canada in the training camp parking lot every year. Steeler Nation is everywhere. Carole

Good idea! We could call it 'Steeler Nation At Sea'. Oh wait......that's me! :p

  6. So sounds like one can take a cab to the rickety restaurant, sit on some beach towels and enjoy some Red Stripes on the cheap. :D

Is the place down the beach past the rocks ?

Recently walked into a Falmouth grocery and stocked up on Red Stripes, rum, juice, snacks and water for $11. Caught a cab to Burwood Beach (public) for $5 each way per person and spent the day relaxing on a pretty empty gorgeous beach. We could see Red Stripe Beach? to our left and I believe Chukka is also in this area. Vendors there offered 4 loungers for $20, red stripes for $3, other snacks and rum drinks and the usual beaded crafts. There was a school holiday that day and the kids were so curious about life in the US and spent some time talking, swimming with and quizzing my boys. Fishing boats returned with their catch throughout the day and the kids always made a bee line to see the bounty. It would have been idyllic if not for the persistent hawking of ALL manner of goods:rolleyes:

I noticed as a single mom with 3 older teens (20, 19, 16) that I was being bothered much more than the other 3 non Jamaican groups on the beach that day so your experience could vary. Could also be that I purchased the loungers and the other groups did not, making me more of a target?

Never once felt unsafe, just tired of saying no thank you! Cab driver returned at the requested time and we asked for his recommendation for roadside jerk lunch next. He charged another $20 for the side trip and we enjoyed talking with him over lunch. Overall, we felt it was a good day and would do this again.

  7. I liked the orecchiette pasta with short rib sauce, my DS liked the chicken cordon bleu and my DD liked the sea scallop and chorizo appetizer in the MDR for our favorites. My three kids gave the Sorrento's pizza a big thumbs up. Giovanni's was our favorite meal overall.

Favorite desserts were the Gio's tiramisu and the MDR warm chocolate cake.

  8. Oh my. You have convinced me that I must go to morning stretch just to see Ms Diaz' twin and the young Arnold in action! Any monkey business over mats or class start time, they better look out. I imagine myself organizing the other participants to revolt with a battle cry of "This one is for Sherri, the MADQ!"

Please excuse the interruption. And now, back to our heroine!:D:p

  9. My son is kinda odd in that he feels he doesn't need friends (other than his cousin) and thinks the teen get together is lame. So he didn't participate in that event. He met kids on the basketball court.

    Debbie

That's not odd at all. It's exactly what my son is thinking and why I'm starting 2 months ahead of time talking it up!

  10. Thanks for the comments Debbie. We are doing this cruise in 2 weeks! I am worried about the debarkation like you mentioned so I hope there is some positive news on the customs front before we sail.

Also, would you recommend the prohibition party? For a long time people's reviews talked about how fun it was and there was a story to it. Recently I am reading reviews like yours -- weird and kinda uncomfortable setting, not worth $35, etc.

We signed up but we may cancel at this point. Thanks! Katherine

Would love to hear your opinion of the event Katherine. I go on May 19th and have started to second guess it, too, based a few recent reviews. I think I saw that there was a cancellation fee, too.

    Debbie,

I am impressed with the room photos. It actually looks fairly spacious. Do you remember the Sq. footage?

Also, did your kids naturally group together with their cousins or did any of them head to the teen club? My 16 yr DS is the youngest SIB, my others are over 18. Because they normally "hang" together and his age isn't going to allow him to go where the others are going, I am encouraging him to at least try the Teen M&M the first night to see if he can find some companions. Otherwise, I may have to increase his arcade limit for the times he is on his own!

  11. I used EZ out of Miami last November. The counter and cars were on-site, however, there was a wait to check-in with customer service. There were no self serve check-in kiosks or pre-registration offered. I am using EZ again prior to my May19th cruise, this time out of Ft. Lauderdale.
