  1. OP's post is so hard to read - one big paragraph. I'll take everyone else's word for it.

I wasn't able to finish it. The print was so small and as you said like one paragraph with no spaces. I am glad someone else had a problem with it.

  2. Thanks everyone.:) Just did a 3D tour of the mini suite on the Golden and saw the grab rail. DH feels a bit better now after all the comments, especially from West Coast Cruiser who has had a THR and been in a similar cabin. We may take a rubber bath mat with us for extra security. Hate him to slip.

Taking the bath mat might be a good idea. The bottom of the tub had some none skid things on it. But you will probably feel better taking it.

  3. We are starting to have misgivings about the cabin we have booked on the Golden Princess. It has a shower over the bath. We are both in our 70's definitely not invalids but DH has had a hip replacement. The cruise is for 34 days next year. Have any CCs had experience with this configuration, if so has it been a problem?

I was in a mini suite on the Grand in January. I have also had a hip replacement. My concern before boarding was if there would be some grab bars. There was a small one and I did fine. I had no problem getting in and out of the tub.

  4. I would definitely go on the Star. Since Sky walkers has been removed from the Grand that would be a deal breaker for me for a Hawaii Cruise. I spend much time up on sky walkers on sea days. It is great to sit and watch that beautiful view of the sea. I was on the Grand in January. She is beginning to show her age a bit and I really missed Sky Walkers.

  5. I believe that I will most likely never need the information from the muster drill but I can't say for certain so we go and actually try to listen. It would be nice if people would just shut up for the short time necessary so everybody could actually hear what is said.

If we have to actually muster in an emergency all I really need to take with me is my room key, my passport, my wallet, my meds, and put on clothing relevant to the weather. It doesn't take much time for that preparation and I have a small "shore bag" with straps that can hold everything needed for both my wife and myself.

Attending muster seems a small price to pay for cruising.

    Well said.

  6. Hi All

Ships captains should safe this video, and every time some passenger

complains about missing a port, or says another ship made it in they should

    show this,

    yours Shogun

I will sure think twice about missed ports after seeing this. There have been times when we all have wondered why the Captain chose not to go into port.

  7. A few years ago, I was on a HAL Med cruise that I booked as a 28-day cruise but was also sold as two 14-day cruises. We were required to attend the 2nd Muster. Two nights later, the emergency signal went off at 1:50am. A fire onboard. It amazed me how many people, most of whom had booked the full 28 days and thus attended two Musters, didn't know what to do. Some even ran in their nightclothes with their life jackets to their Muster station; not dressed, no jacket, totally unprepared. Turns out it was a transformer in the cooler (commercial refrigerator) in the buffet. It was out within minutes. This experience impressed on me the need to not only continue to attend Muster but to also pay attention.

I totally agree with you. I never mind going to Muster.

  8. I submit OP loves regimentation, order and control. Everything must have its place and time. No exceptions.

I find the suggestion about charging for shows and entertainment amusing in that there have been a few that you couldn't pay me to attend ...

You have that right. Totally agree.

  9. Have a great cruise no matter which you do!!! Sometimes it just as easy to toss a coin, smile.

We have have cruised Princess, Celebrity, Holland America, Crystal, Cunard, NCL plus some lines that are no longer around. When ever some one asks which is the best line for the Mediterranean which is a common question.... I them we have done all, it really doesn't matter much, it really is all about the ports. If you have not been to Alaska before - I suspect the same is true here.

I will probably be booking another cruise on the Grand soon But I really miss Sky walkers. I know they had to remove it, but I so enjoy it on the other ships.

  10. I laughed when I read this. Was it on Costa Line? (I sailed on several of their cruises in the early 1980s.) I was so embarrassed when I returned to my cabin and found my nightgown "displayed" on the bed, with the waist area narrowed and the bottom part fanned out. I hid my nightgown after that. LOL. You brought back a memory of my early days of cruising.

I had that happen on another cruise line years ago and it "freaked me out" that he had been going through the clothes in the drawers. He was kind of creepy anyway. The next day I asked him not to go through our clothes and he stopped.
