I took my first Princess Cruise in 1976 on the original Island Princess. I have seen so many changes. Cruising is not what it used to be,and it is hard not to compare. I have just accepted it and I guess because of the changes, Cruising is still affordable.

I got both the e card and one in the regular mail. Nice touch.

Thanks for the update. I agree about the towel animals. Have seen maybe 2 in the last 15-20 years and that was when the kids were 12 or so.
Stewart does enough. ;)
I agree.

I have been on over 20 cruises on Princess. Don't remember ever having towel animals. I have seen them on other lines, but not on Princess.

good morning from the Grand….
a few additional observations on our B 2 B…currently cruising southeast off the baja….speed is 21-22 mph so whatever needed to be fixed got fixed….been a bumpy ride since we departed SF….to cold to be outside for my thinned out florida blood but its getting better….we have seen a few passengers who were on board for our hawaii portion. we have a new captain, this one from Scotland…...the crew remains one of the best ever….
Thanks VERY much to the posters who took their time to share thoughts and tips on Cabo and other places to stop…i will try them all…
like others have said , no towel animals on this cruise or our last 10 cruises at least…but as hard as these stewards work i lose no sleep over that, they probably would if they had to do them….. my baby granddaughter would surely disagree with me but personally i like that princess cuts their costs wherever the are able ,so i can afford to keep cruising more….we are paying about the same ..or less sometimes…than we were 5 years ago….there aint no free ride. (except when your ship has a small fire and breaks down off hilo hawaii!!)
one of the interesting things about doing a back 2 back is watching the passenger demographics and personalities change from the last cruise to this one. i dunno if its the 15 day cruise vs. this 10 dayer or hawaii vs. Mexico or what…but there sure is a different group of folks on board going to Mexico…. the passengers at the lunch buffet on this one so far could challenge the patience and good will of the Pope.
if i was king of the world i would limit every passenger to taking no more than 2000 photos of themselves PER DAY , on a 10 day cruise. on this cruise that restriction would upset a whole lot of passengers. ….although i own a canon DLSR and a really, really awesome GoPro…i personally don't see the need to take that many photos of myself or my wife in front of every staircase and wall painting….heck i saw one passenger taking a selfie next to one of those yellow plastic caution signs indicating "wet floor- slippery"..
Thanks for all of your posts. I hope you keep them coming. We will be boarding the Grand on the 30th.

In case anyone is interested in the schedule, according to tomorrow's Patter, we are expected to be in Ensenada from the usual around 4:00 to 8:00.
Thanks for posting this. I was wondering when you would get there. I have been watching the bridge cam. I am assuming this is in the p.m.
We cruised with you on a RT Hawaii several years ago. I remember you from the meet and greet.

8pm this time of year in Ensenada? Bring your flashlight. It is going to end up looking like this ...
Pretty pictures.

What exactly have they done to the Island Princess?
-
So good to hear from all of you again.
It will be good to know when you are in San Francisco.
Any updates on repairs being made on the ship while you are heading to Ensenada?

Is this thread being hijacked by hamburgers?

There are also lots of shops available right at the pier as you get off the ship if you don't feel like going into town.

Forgive my lack of intelligence but doesn't allowing passengers to fly home violate pvsa?
I was wondering the same thing. Do you think Princess paid the fines for all those people?
Probably were able to make some kind of arrangement.

Thanks so much everyone for all of your updates. I hope you will be able to keep them coming. There are a lot of us on the main land sending good thoughts your way.

I would. :)
Me too.

Thanks to everyone for all of your updates. Please keep them coming. It is so nice to hear your attitudes about the whole problem. Great that Princess is taking such good care of everyone.
You are having quite an adventure. Stay safe.

I am just anxious to hear about the extent of the damage. I am glad everyone is safe. Most of the passengers we are hearing from on this thread seem to be taking things in stride.
When you travel things happen. I think it is mostly those of us who are not on the ship are the ones talking about compensation,

I have been watching the webcam as I always do for ships that I will be boarding soon. I figured something was wrong when it showed you were still heading to Hilo.
I hope repairs will be able to be completed in a timely manner for you. Glad you are all safe.

I was on a sail boat for a sunset cruise as the Grand sailed out of Cabo:
Nice picture.

Would like to see them enforce no ball caps too.
Agreed.

Last night was one of the rockiest nights of the cruise. My DW got very little sleep. I don't know if it was part of hurricane that is near Mexico, or what. Not bad for 10 days of cruising. Taking Bart home, we ran into others who were on their way to the Grand, for 15 days in Hawaii (wish we were taking a b2b). What was crazy was we stayed on mountain time, until the night before we arrived back in SF. We had a lot trouble knowing what time it was, I was constantly calling for the time.
The trip up from Mexico to San Francisco, or even to L.A. is usually pretty rocky.

Yes they had ukulele lesions, my DW and I were wondering why on a Mexician cruise, but it appears to be very popular. I forgot about Mazatlan, we had a very enjoyable tour with a private company, at half the price. We were always leery, worried that we would have to run to make the ship. No problems, at half the price. We will be back in SF tomorrow, my DW is more sad than I am. The staff in Sabatini's was first rate for breakfast.
Thanks

On the Regal on the Nov 3rd sailing we were in a mini suite.....there was no top sheet on the bed.....which I found very odd......is this normal for Princess ships? This was our 1st Princess cruise...have cruised on several other lines and top sheets were always on the bed until now...... so did they just "forget" ours...or is this normal on Princess?
I always ask for one the first day and it is on the bed that evening.

We did this cruise almost two years ago. No ukulele lessons. Those are only on the Hawaii cruises.
We were wondering if they were since the Grand is going back and forth to Hawaii this year.
Hopefully someone who is on the ship will let us know.
Thanks,
