  1. I agree with SeaPortMike. Most post negative, but won't take the time to post when they are satisfied.

We cruised our 1st NCL cruise on the Escape 2 yrs ago. The reviews scared me then, but once we got onboard, our family loved the NCL cruise experience. So much so, we leave for the Bliss next weekend. Kids are thrilled. They are 8 & 10 and understand the GoKart situation, and that we will pay for each to go once or twice. Satisfied with that, they look forward to just good old family time. Not interested in the camps, but just exploring the ship & what it has to offer. Every kid is different, but mine are happy with the fact we just get to be away and that all 4 of their grandparents will be joining this time around.

  2. Two Wheels, ditto to all you said in regards to NCL. My family will be cruising NCL for our 2nd time on the Bliss in a couple weeks, and we cannot wait. Our children are 8 and 10. We sailed on the Escape 2 yrs ago and loved her. Why? Because of the Freestyle cruising NCL offers. My husband and I cruised Royal Caribbean in the past, and enjoyed it...however, our children did well with NCL and we all loved the fact that we could eat in a main dining room each evening without dressing up. We dress up for work each day, so going to dinner in jeans and a nice tshirt shirt for my husband, or a pair of capris and a nice tee for my daughter and I are a welc:rolleyes:omed break. Additionally, the less we need to pack, as we are always flying to our port city, the easier and better.

  3. I agree with drcarp4. Ncl & Carnival are pretty equal...with NCL buffet slightly better. My husband and I have sailed Royal Caribbean, Carnival & NCL. We enjoyed the food in the MDR of all 3 lines just as equally. When we are asked which line had the best food, we reply we enjoyed them all.

  4. Thank you for your helpful review! Much appreciated, as we sail the Bliss in August with our 2 children and my parents/in-laws. Much of what you said, I thought to be true of the Escape. Great MDR food, Margaritaville could be easily replaced and they could maje better use of that space. Service always good. We did buffet minimally on Escape, but liked the outdoor eating space, so thanks for info you provided about ceiling heaters there.

Just wondering about pools? Will they be heated for Alaska?

  5. Sailing out of Seattle to Alaska in August. Wondering about state taxes that are sometimes charged on alcohol until the ship is out far enough into waters? Or does this only apply more for the Caribbean cruises? I know out of Florida on the Escape until we were out a certain distance, the state tax would apply

  6. A few questions, since I'm new to this upgrade process. We are booked on Bliss for August on a family ocean view. What is a good upgrade bid for a balcony or mini suite?

Additionally, just wondering if anyone knows whether our prepaid gratuities & free at sea promotions carry over to the upgrade if we bid & are accepted?

  7. Oh we'll make use of the drinks included with the package. Love me some wine with dinner. I just wondered about espresso. We usually have just 1 espresso a day. I figured lattes & cappuccinos weren't included, just wasn't sure if regular espresso was or not.

  8. Sailing Bliss in August out of Seattle. Is Seattle a port that charges tax on beverages if ordered before the ship sails far enough out? What about Alaskan ports? Anyone have info on this? Sailed Escape 2 yes ago out of Miami and waited until we were in international waters to order a drink to avoid charges on drinks. Have UBP
