  1. In early July we will be returning from an Alaskan cruise. The first leg of the flight home is Vancouver to Minneapolis where we have a 55 minute layover. EZ Air said that should be enough time since we will be in the same terminal for the second flight out of Minneapolis. They also said "they think" we will go through Customs in Vancouver, so no need to worry about that in Minneapolis as we change planes. They also said that should we miss the flight, it's "their (EZ Air's) problem" and they would take care of it and get us another flight at that time, which btw will be on the 4th of July.

    So my questions are:

    1. Disembarking in Vancouver, will we go through Customs at the airport?

    2. Flying Delta and in the same terminal in Minneapolis, is 55 minutes enough time?

    3. Anyone ever miss an EZ Air flight? If so, what is the procedure. I would imagine we'd be standing at the Delta counter.....how does EZAir come into it?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I checked in for our flight last Thursday while on Royal Princess using the computers at the internet cafe. I did not have any internet package so I paid by the minute at $ 0.79 per minute. I checked in on AA and then checked weather. I used 6 minutes and it cost me $4.74.

Thank you! This is EXACTLY the advice I was looking for. Much appreciated EMS8

  3. The staff at the Internet Cafe can help you set up the pay-as-you-go plan so you will only be charged for the minutes used. Then you can use the Delta app on your phone. If you've had Internet packages before, then you know to make sure to sign out when you're done!

Sent from my SM-G930R6 using Forums mobile app

Thank you. I was unaware of the pay-as-you-go option. I've only ever seen the plans that begin at 100+ minutes for onboard use.

  4. Despite researching, I cannot find the answer to this dilemma. I hope someone on CC can help…

We are traveling southbound in Alaska in June on the Coral. Having AT&T as our cell provider, I am pretty certain I will (for once!) not have to purchase a WiFi package onboard since we will be in ports enough to keep in touch.

However, here’s the dilemma: 24 hours before our flight out of Vancouver, we will be at sea. How can we check in to our flights 24 hours in advance without an onboard WiFi package?

My research tells me that with the Delta app, all you have to do is open it, and you are automatically checked in. Has anyone ever done that with the Delta app? Is this possible onboard without a WiFi package?

What might my other options be regarding checking in 24 hrs in advance for our Delta flight while we are at sea?

    TIA!

  5. Thank you all for your valuable tips and shared experiences. I had never considered EZAir for any of our trips as we do so many from our home ports that we can drive to. I booked using EZAir for the first time today for our return trip from Copenhagen to Tampa. Huge savings and will monitor as suggested although will be hard when on the move. Great thread ~ thanks, again OP.

My pleasure! The Cruise Critic community is such a wealth of great information and have always come through with helpful answers when I’ve had questions. I am happy to have been able to provide a valuable warning for ALL flights— not just EZ Air—I am learning. But I am happy also that you have discovered the benefits of EZ Air. Just monitor your flights as closely as you can in your Personalizer and on the airline’s site.

Also, last year for our Baltic cruise wanting Premium Economy seats, we contacted our TA who was able to purchase the flights early through Princess EZ Air (before final payment), and then we were free to contact the airlines to secure specific seats—and to pay for— the upgrade from economy. The TA sent us a form via email to fill out, then she contacted Princess and paid for the flights. Of course, at that time we were locked into those flights.

  6. I am the OP and just checked my flights on the Delta site again. Yep--outbound has changed times, and there was no notice to me from Delta or Princess, and my personalizer does NOT show the change.

I am going to have to be vigilant in checking. My TA had not received any notifications either. She was shocked (her words) to see these changes occurring without notifications.

  7. Thank you for your post! I am using EZ Air and after reading your post I checked directly on Delta's website only to find Delta had changed our return business flight to a different carrier in economy, at the same fare. I contacted Princess and they contacted Delta to find that Delta had changed the outbound due to their schedule changes. Princess was able to find us business class out bound from Barcelona at an addition $100.00pp more, while not happy it still is less expensive than booking directly with the airline. The lowest I could find was $8,000.00pp. Which is 6K more than EzAir. Plus I have not paid in full, so it's nice to be able to hold a reservation with only a deposit, and get air fare to Europe. Booking directly with an airline I would have had to pay in full upfront and still be at their mercy if the airline changes my flights. At least for now I can continue to monitor fares up until final payment day.

I am so glad my post helped you divert disaster! :D And I agree EZ Air is a great option.

  8. I realize that some who posted "Capt. Hook" realize it is Capt. Cook, but I hate seeing errors perpetuated. So for those who don't know, the hotel is named for Capt. Cook, the famous explorer. The hotel looks out over Knik Arm of Cook Inlet (and on a clear day has a great view of Denali from the Crow's Nest on the top floor). The hotel is not named for Peter Pan's nemesis.

Too funny! I did, indeed, know the hotel was Captain Cook....must be something in my subconscious that made me type Captain HOOK  :')

  9. For a 15 day land/sea cruise in Alaska this coming June, I booked EZ Air flights last fall, monitored them daily, re-booked twice for lower fares, then continued to watch the flights checking on them daily for further reductions. No further reductions showed up, and nothing changed on the flight portion of my personalizer on Princess—all flights remained the same. However, “something” made me plug my locator number into the DELTA website, and that’s when everything blew up. The flight to Alaska was now an hour earlier with a longer layover, but the worst part was that our return flights were no longer in synch. The flights all over lapped and did not line up at all. There were red exclamation marks all over the page and notices to contact Delta immediately. I did that, but was told since the flights were not yet ticketed, I needed to contact Princess/EZ Air. It took well over an hour on the phone with Princess and resulted in very satisfactory flights. However….

    Two items of note here:

#1 I’m not sure what would have happened if I had not had the “feeling” to plug my reservation into the Delta website. The problem likely would have come to light at final payment, and then I’m sure it would have been much more difficult to find flights similar to the ones I had booked last fall

#2 When I asked what I could/should do to avoid something like this happening again, she said it seemed to her to be quite a fluke, but to be certain of your flights —since the airlines can and do change/cancel flights all the time—occasionally checking your reservation on the airlines’ website is good advice.

Finally, If Princess is indeed reading these boards—kudos to Ophelia, the Princess rep who worked so very hard for me to resolve this issue. Thank you Princess and Ophelia!

  10. Thank you everyone!

(Still not totally positive we'll be dropped at the Captain Hook hotel--am hoping to hear from others)

I did see reviews for the Glacier Brewhouse. It looks good.

    How about F Street Station?

I'd love to try Moose's Tooth, but I see it is a ways away from the hotel (if that is where we will be dropped off)

  11. Our itinerary tells us that as part of our land portion, we will be transported from McKinley Lodge to the Kenai Lodge via motor coach and along the way will make a stop in Anchorage for lunch on our own. Can you tell me WHERE in Anchorage we will be dropped off and how long we will have for this stop?

    Thank you in advance!

  12. I was advised from the Alaska pages to post here~

We are on a Connoisseur Land/Sea trip with Princess in June and as part of the tour are scheduled to take the train from Fairbanks to Denali (4 hour train ride).

Are seats assigned? But more importantly, are the seats at tables of 4 with two people facing forward and two people facing backwards, or have the seats been changed to all face forward?

Anyone from 2017 land/sea trips with Princess able to tell me?

    TIA!
